POV
It seems like Cara and Alexei might have moved forward in their relationship as well. I am happy for them. I know just how serious Alexei was about Cara, and she deserves to have a good man. I am very happy myself, as Robert is a good man. He is dependable and strong, and I can feel the difference between him and James. I was only a plaything to James. It was a challenge. That was why he had pursued me so hard. It was a matter of pride to him.
I woke up before Robert did and slowly turned around to watch him sleep. He is a very attractive man, but it is not his appearance that is the best thing about him. He was kind and loving, and his best feature is his humor. I was a little nervous as he wanted me to go and meet his mother today. I have to say that I was a little nervous about that. I had never met James' family. They lived in another pack, and he had never taken me there to meet them. It was the first red flag, and I stupidly ignored it. He also didn't take Cara there to meet them either.I am sure that in his heart, he knew that Cara would never be a wolf. He didn't really want to keep her. He did it only to hurt and try to control me. Believe me, he did hurt me. I refused to accept his offer of returning to my cottage in the woods for him to come and 'visit' me. "Attention! He lied so smoothly to me that I never suspected a thing. Not until the day he was out of the pack, and I felt my mark burning off my neck as he marked her.
I should have packed up right then and taken Cara with me. I should have been gone when he returned. But after he chased me for over two years, marking me as his mate. I honestly believed that he loved me. Apparently, he only loved sleeping with me. I was so shocked at the offer he made me. He knew I wanted my baby girl. He thought I would be willing to accept his offer. Keep sleeping with him in order to be able to see my daughter when he decided to bring her around. He had just met his true mate. Just knowing that he was fine with cheating on her showed me exactly who he was that fateful day.
I may not have any love lost for his mate Ellen, but she really deserved better than that. I was told that after I left, he stayed true to her. I guess he did have some sort of affection for me. I just wasn't going to lower myself to be blackmailed by someone so vile. Everything he told me had been a complete lie, but I was young and inexperienced. I had accepted it all at the time.
I had been living on my own since thirteen and had to teach myself how to cast spells. After I left Kamaria, I learned much more about how to be a witch. When I left, I took my mother's spell books. They had been passed down from her mother and had been in our family for several centuries.
I was so caught up in my memories that I hadn't noticed Robert awake and watching me with concern. He took my hands in his and said, "I am here. I won't allow anyone to hurt you again."
It was such a simple statement, but it moved me that he wanted me to know that he would always be there for me. I have to admit the care and concern that he had for me was unprecedented. I have had a lot of interest in the last twenty-one years, but I was never willing to open myself up to get involved with anyone else. I have guarded my heart so carefully for so long. I am so glad that Robert and his wolf were willing to knock my walls down and show me how much they truly cared.
"Let's get ready. I can't wait to introduce you to my parents today. Jaxon gave me the day off, and I want to spend it with you. I would like to show you around the pack. That way, everyone knows that you are off limits," Robert announced with a smile.
He got up from the bed and walked to the shower, and I enjoyed the view as he walked away. He is a glorious specimen of a werewolf, his muscles rippling with each step. He is stronger than James and is better than him in every way. As I heard the shower start, I got up and headed to shower with him. I was not going to miss this opportunity. By the time we were done, the water was getting cold. I just hoped that his parents liked me. I know some have had a bad experience with witches. I could see where this might not go my way, but I will not give him up. He is already in my heart. I refuse to let him go.
"Are you sure that they are ready to welcome us this early?" I asked as we stepped up to his mother's home. It was just after eight a.m., and I was a little nervous about what my reception might be.
"They are all here, and they want to meet you. They are going to love you, just like I do," Robert replied as he rang the doorbell and waited for the door to open. It wasn't long before the door flew open, and a set of twins with golden eyes were standing in front of us. They were adorable and had the widest smiles on their faces as they cried out, "Brother, you came." They danced out to greet him with a hug and looked up at me with interest.
"This is my mate, Saoirse," Robert told them. Their eyes lit up as they immediately released Robert and came over to hug me. I was surprised at how happy they were to meet me. I could tell that they were more than vampires. They were obviously hybrids, and I sensed great power in them. Robert reached out to take my hand and laced his fingers through mine as he entered the home behind his younger siblings. There were several people seated at the table drinking coffee. I recognized the blonde woman at the table, from the hospital. She had visited Cara and been very kind to her, which made her a friend in my eyes.
The adults stood up to greet me, and I saw four more children playing in the next room. A gorgeous redhead stood next to a man who was clearly Roberts's father. He had the same strong build and dark brown hair as Robert. I notice that his father has yellow eyes. It is odd that all four of them are clearly vampires. Robert had to have gotten his werewolf side from somewhere. It is wonderful that they were willing to find their true mates, even if they weren't a werewolf. It gives me hope that they will accept me as Roberts' mate.
The blonde lady came forward with her hand out towards me, "I am Cheryl. I am Robert's mother. I am very glad to meet you." She turned to smile at a blonde male stepping up to her side. She said, "This is my husband, Anton. I believe you already know his brother, Alexei." "I do. He is my daughter's mate. It is a pleasure to meet you both," I smiled back at them. During the introductions, Robert had come to stand behind me, with his arms wrapped around my waist. I know that he is pushing out his aura, as I felt it myself. He is proud of me, and he is definitely sending out signals he wants them to like me too.
"My name is Blake, I am Robert's father. This is my wife, Kira," Blake stated with a curious gaze aimed at me. I could tell that he used to be a werewolf. He still had a very strong build for a vampire.
"Dad used to be the Alpha at Black Moon. Mom was his chosen mate. Kevin took over from him and is the current Alpha now. My brother Kevin is mated to Cara's sister Luna," Robert explained to me.
"We heard that Alexei met his mate. We are so very happy for them. All of us have wanted someone special for a long time. Anton was the one who lucked out first with Cheryl. Then I found Blake, and now Alexei has found his mate. I am very happy to meet you as well, Saoirse. Robert is a good man and deserves to be happy," Kira announced.
I was surprised at their acceptance of me. No one asked about or mentioned my being a witch. No one was rude, ugly, or skeptical about me being his fated mate. It was kind of strange, actually. I thought that this was going to be a very stressful introduction, especially since Robert was so much younger than I was.
Yet, no one seemed to have a problem with it. It was almost as if they believed that nothing was better than a true mate. I guess since they had finally found their true mate, they were even willing to become a vampire to live out their lives together, and that level of love was beautiful to me. I will be doing the same for Robert as well. Spelling him, so we both live for centuries. I cannot bear to lose him, and I will do whatever is needed to make sure that he lives a long, happy life with me.
Robert and I overslept a little this morning. Cara also got to rest this morning because Brenna had canceled to go to the doctor. I enjoyed getting to meet everyone. They all seemed to be very pleasant. I am hoping that due to my daughter being mated with Alexei, this is going to be smooth sailing for me. I don't harbor any ill will toward any of them. But I know better than to drop my guard too soon.
I get to meet all the children. Cheryl and Anton have five-year-old twins, Maksim and Milena. A three-year-old son, Boris Nikolai, and a one-year-old daughter, Risa. Blake and Kira have a four-year-old daughter, Ania, and a two-year-old son, Victor. Ania was a miniature version of her mother. Her red hair was striking, and she had her father wrapped around her little finger. Victor was a quiet little boy, handsome just like his father, Blake, and brother, Robert. He also had dark hair, but both children had the same amber-yellow eyes as their parents. I felt my eyes get damp at the thought of having such a cute little boy.It hit me that I was going to have to tell Cara. I wanted her to hear that Robert was my mate from me. I am pretty sure she is going to be happy about it. That is, right up until she realizes the possibility of our both being pregnant at the same time. I mean, it is not a given, but it could happen, and I am open to giving Robert children if he wants to have them. He is so good with his siblings. I am sure he will be a great father. I am not going to wait. I will tell Cara as soon as I get back home.
