Betrayed by My Pack – Wolfless Hybrids Escape

Chapter 142 –

Robert's

POV

The moment I got the mindlink from Saoirse, my mind froze. My mate and babies were at risk. I was so terrified at what Clay would do to them that I almost couldn't get the words out. Thankfully, Cara had messaged Alexei too. We immediately headed to Anton's house quickly. Anton and Alexei passed us by as we headed to the house. When we arrived, they had picked up the warrior and moved him to a safe location. He had been shot, but he would heal. He just needed to go to the pack hospital.

I could see Jaxon linking people to come here and take the warrior to the pack hospital and bring backup. He is just as worried as I am about his mate. Kevin is the only one in there with them, and things are tense. We hear gunshots. So many gunshots, and my heart was in my throat. We have to get in there. I know I am not the only one with fear racing through them. Anton and Alexei are almost feral, worrying about their mates.

Chase and Blane tried to hold them back, but not very successfully. Surprisingly, although their frames are smaller than ours, their strength is comparable. Chase kept speaking to them, trying to calm them down for several minutes before they were finally willing to listen. Alexei helped to start healing the warrior as we waited for the doctors to get here. They will need to check out our mates, too, but the injured warrior needed help now.

"Listen to me! You can go in, but you must wait for the guns to arrive. We will go in with you. You are not impervious to bullets. Ivan just recovered from what Jana did to him. You can't just run in there and expect Clay and his men to surrender their weapons. We have to be smart about this. It would help if you had a gun. You have to be able to protect not just yourselves but your mates too. Robert is a good shot. He can go in with you, but are you sure you are calm enough to do this? We can get others here quickly to go in and deal with this. We will send in the best sharpshooters we have to go in first. Then, after they take them out, you can go in after them," Chase suggested.

I am sure he is trying to do what is best for all of us, but he needs to stop. He doesn't understand what we are going through. The fact that we have no way of knowing if they are OK or what they are doing to them right now has us almost in a frenzy. Clay is a disgusting parasite, and he needs to be dealt with. I could feel how disgusted Saoirse was at the moment. I wouldn't put anything past Clay.

"My mate is in there. I am not waiting on anything other than the gun I need. I built this home to protect her. My family should have been safe in there. That little miscreant managed to enter and now has my mate and children hostage. I won't be waiting any longer than until the guns arrive," Anton ground out.

"Can you shoot?" Chase asked.

Anton shot Chase a scathing look before saying, "I have known how to shoot for over a hundred years, Chase. Just because you haven't seen us practicing doesn't mean we don't know how to handle a gun. I want to remind you that we have our own team. A team that comes in armed to deal with threats just like this. We only use guns when the species we are dealing with can be affected by them. Otherwise, it is a complete waste of time and resources." Anton replied.

I noticed that Anton is much calmer now. Maybe getting mad at Chase had taken his focus off the situation and allowed Anton to look at this in a different light. This was what they did, and they went all over the world helping others from those who would do them harm. I am a little calmer, too; the reminder of how good their team is helped. I just needed to remember that Clay and his men were not good enough to beat their highly-trained team.

"I know you can shoot, Anton. I was trying to get you to listen to me. We needed to be logical about this and remove the emotions. Lives are at stake here, and I couldn't let you go in there as emotional as you were. That is why I suggested sending the sharpshooters in. We could also send your team in on this too. I know you have a way to get in there. I remember you telling us when you built the extension onto the house. We will go with you. Just wait for the guns to arrive. They are two minutes away," Chase advised.

I saw a movement in the upper left corner of the addition Chase had just been talking about. He added three rooms to their house-one on the first floor and a new bedroom on the second floor. The third room was the massive home gym. Anton, Alexei, and their team used it frequently. It still made the pack members here nervous to watch them train. I think it is more of a blow to our pride as wolves to see how strong they were. The addition was three stories high, with the far wall having a small ledge to jump up from the floor to land on. It kept them out of the sight of our pack members, making them less nervous.

I hit Anton in the arm and ran to the ground directly below the area after I saw the movement. The Twins were there and waving at us. A large panel of the wall came out and made a four-foot wide window when it was opened. I could see Tatiana behind the children. I knew what she was planning on doing. She would drop the children down to us, which was pretty risky.

"Wait, Anton. Give me one minute. I have something in my vehicle that will help us." Chase said before running off. He ran back with a large orange duffle bag in his hand. I had seen it in his SUV before. Chase is always on top of everything. He is always well prepared, and we teased him, calling him a boy scout. He is ready for any emergency. He has a jump bag filled with blankets and several changes of clothes inside it, a medical bag to treat basic injuries, and this bag. I have no idea what the third bag was for.

I soon learned what it was. Jaxon and Blane helped Chase set the base up and then started inflating it. In less than a minute, a giant blow-up square was in front of us, about five feet away from the wall, and blowing up right in front of me. This would be a lot safer than us trying to catch them. The child or the person catching them could get hurt. We might drop them if the injury we sustained was severe enough. I was again amazed at how well-prepared Chase was.

"How long have you had this, Chase?" I asked in surprise.

"For the last three years. I had Dad order it before he stepped down. There are two of them in the old packhouse and two in the new packhouse. They are rated for jumps up to ten stories high. So they will work well here with our five-story packhouses. Better to be prepared and not need it than to need it and not have it," Chase replied with a smile. He is older than his years, but I already knew we would be teasing him about this for months.

"Tatiana, start with the youngest," Chase called up to Tatiana. The first child had to be helped, as Risa was only a year and a half old. Anton quickly helped her out of the rescue cushion to let Boris jump next. At a little over three years old, there was no fear on his face. He jumped on his own. The smile on his face made it seem like this was more like a game than being in a dangerous situation. The twins were next, and Milena gracefully leaped out of the window. Once she was clear, Maksim did his jump, too; it was clear that they liked it, too. Dmitry motioned for Tatiana to jump, but she hesitated. "Come watch the children for us, love. We are going in," Dmitry called up to her. We could all see her struggling with what to do. She loves everyone in the house and doesn't want to leave them.

"Go get Sasha and Emerson, and come back to jump. We can't take any chances, Tatiana," Jaxon ordered. The power in his voice was unmistakable. It was not a suggestion. He meant for his order to be followed. Although Tatiana was not a member of our pack yet, his authority rang out. She disappeared for a short time, and Emerson jumped down first. Sasha followed, with Tatiana coming out last.

Once they were out, they collected the children and took them a safe distance away. It was time for us to go in. The guns had arrived while Chase was setting up the jump cushion. Anton and Alexei took turns taking Jaxon, Chase, and me to the landing. Anton had built the decorative ledge near the hidden panel to be more than just decorative. It was holding our weight up as the three of us stood here.

I slipped in the window and stood with Jaxon as Anton and Alexei entered the room behind me. Dmitry was the last one up. We were on the third floor of the gym, and I am ashamed to say that I had never been there. In my defense, this room had nothing for me to do in it. It had been specifically designed for the vampires to use. I didn't have time to look around either because we exited the room as soon as Dmitry arrived.

We entered the central part of the home and quietly went down the hallway to Anton's office. I didn't know why we didn't go straight to the first floor until I saw that he had hidden cameras on the first floor. They covered the kitchen, dining room, and the living room. It was all I could do not to run down the stairs when I saw that jerk using a chair to try to break down Saoirse's barrier. It was the only thing keeping him away from her. She looked tired, and I knew it took it out of her to keep the barrier up. Add to it being pregnant, and I knew that soon she would not be able to stop him.

I wanted to roar angrily, but Jaxon and Chase grabbed me. "Don't let them know we are here. We should have the element of surprise. Let's get a plan together, and we will deal with them. But don't tip them off. I don't want him to get away again. He is going to die today for what he has done," Alexei said as he looked into my eyes. He is pissed. Just as angry as he was when Paxton took them. I nodded and tried to calm down.

Before I could fully calm down, I heard my mate taunting him. I don't know why she would do such a thing. I know that I have to get downstairs and deal with Clay. I can't let him live and try to come back after my mate again.
