Betrayed by My Pack – Wolfless Hybrids Escape

Chapter 139 –

Cara's POV

I noticed that Mom had been quiet for most of the day. Something is going on, and we can both feel it. We had the same feeling the day that Robert got sexually assaulted by Adra. When the knock came at the door, Anton came down from his office upstairs and stood at the top of the stairs as Cheryl opened the door. Kevin had taken up a spot behind the door, just in case of intruders, but it was Alexei, Robert, Dmitry, and Jaxon. Chase stayed in the SUV at the tree line about a hundred feet away.

I knew Alexei was supposed to come early, but this was too early. He dropped me off at ten a.m. and headed to work. Tatiana had immediately flown over and jumped into Dmitry's arms. He was like a giant teddy bear with her. He was a dangerous fighter, but his smile while looking down at Tatiana was anything but fearsome.

"We need to talk," Alexei called up to Anton, who immediately descended the stairs. Sasha and Emerson gathered the children up and headed upstairs to the playroom. Alexei lifted me off the couch before sitting down and placing me on his lap. I snuggled into him as just being with him calmed me down. I have been worried for the last two hours, but with Alexei holding me, all my fears melted away. I looked around the room, with each couple seated just like us.

I could see that the men seemed to have something to say but were trying to figure out the best way to do it. Alexei finally broke the ice. "I got a phone call today. They said that Clay was coming at 8 pm to attack. I immediately went to Jaxon to tell him. Ivan has the coven on lockdown. I can call them in as backup if I need them, but with just five rogues coming here, I don't think we will need them," Alexei told us. Instead of getting upset, that lifted my spirits. I would be glad to get this over with. I am tired of being treated like I can't defend myself. It was insulting. I have had plenty of experience feeling like that, and I didn't want to feel it again.

"I have increased the patrols already. I also added men to watch the monitors to see when an alarm gets triggered. We came here to discuss the plan we came up with, and discuss our options. I also wanted to advise that I believe the man who called in the warning to the Council and Alexei is one of them. I will offer him an opportunity to live here in the Black Adder pack if you are OK with it," Jaxon was looking at Brenna for an answer to letting him stay here.

"If he gave us valuable intel, which I think he did, I would not mind him living here. I knew you would not make that kind of an offer without a reason. I know how much you care about your pack members. He seemed to go out of his way to ensure we knew when they would be coming here. In that case, he is a hero for saving my sister. I am happy to accept him into our pack," Brenna told him.

"What do you need from us," I asked.

"I have already taken your shirt from the hamper. Clay is planning on finding you, by using his sense of smell. Using that, we could make sure he goes where we want him to go. He will not be able to stop himself from coming exactly where we want him to," Alexei said as he glanced over at Luna. She was sitting in Kevin's lap, completely relaxed.

"You want one of my shirts too, Alexei?" Luna asked with a smile.

"I do, actually, Luna. I think with him catching your scents. He will be less cautious and just more likely to rush in. Saoirse, I will need your help as well. Can you create another home in the woods? You don't need to make it the same as your home. We need it to be a shell. You can make it look like your home. We need to lure them into the home. We will do that by placing it closer to the perimeter wall and using their scents to draw them in," Alexei replied.

"Using the home like a trap?" my mother said thoughtfully.

"Exactly," Alexei responded.

"I would like to be there. I can end Clay and his friends. I still have enough power to do that," my mother answered.

"No baby, I can't take that risk with you or the babies. You are a strong witch, but we both know your powers are lower because of the pregnancy. I can't take the chance of you doing that. Please, just let us take care of it," Robert pleaded.

"Lunch is almost ready. Let me do a few more things as we have more mouths to feed, and then you can go out there and set everything up. You can go with the men so you will be safe. We can wait here until it is all over. I can't risk my grandbabies," Cheryl said. We could all tell how concerned she was about it.

I didn't even ask, as I could see the expression on Alexei's face. I was content to stay here. It would be my last day confined if they can deal with Clay and his men tonight. I didn't need to take part in ending them myself. Knowing they would take care of Clay was good enough for me. I knew that Alexei would be the one to end him. I leaned over to his ear and said, "Make him suffer before you end him."

The smirk on Alexei's handsome face let me know that Clay would suffer before he died. I didn't feel bad for Clay at all. I still remember the look on his face when he tried to catch me in his home office. He is an evil man, and he will not be missed. The trash needed to be taken out. I was glad the men were ready to get this done. We had a great lunch, and I got a short nap as my mother went out at two to create the shell of a house they needed her to make. The second story would be an illusion.

We all knew that none of them would make it upstairs anyway. It was just a spot to catch Clay and his men. The home was just a temporary spell that would last about twelve hours. That way, even if they came late, it would still be there. They would be using our scents to lead Clay right to the door.

They were gone for about thirty minutes. The men returned to stay in the newly created home to wait for our guests to arrive. Anton went with them, as he would be the one who advised which one of them had been the one to call in the warning. They left a warrior on the door outside to make sure we were safe. Cheryl made a pot of tea for us to drink. Kevin had stayed behind to protect us, along with his mother Cheryl. Tatiana was waiting until she got the all-clear for her to come and search for anyone who might have gotten away.

Sasha and Emerson had come back downstairs with the twins as the younger children were taking a nap. I wanted a nap myself and glanced over at the couch. I only got about a fifteen-minute nap earlier, which was not enough. I'm sure some of my exhaustion might be from having Alexei drink from me this morning. I gave a little shiver as my orgasms were always good with Alexei, but the one from this morning was utterly mind-blowing. We were going to have to do that much more in the future.

I relaxed and enjoyed my time with my sisters. Luna will be leaving again to return to Black Moon with Kevin as soon as this is done. I am glad that Brenna is here with me, but we both miss Luna. The most essential part of today is keeping her safe. If Clay is not dealt with, he could one day return to try to take her away from Kevin. I shudder to even think about what he would do without someone there to stop him. I am okay with waiting patiently for the good news that he is dead and can't hurt anyone else.

Kevin was in the kitchen, sitting at the island, and working. He can have coffee, and I don't blame him. He must be bored with all the accounting numbers he has to go through. I would probably have to do the same thing just trying to keep myself awake. Brenna likes accounting, and so does Luna, but I have never enjoyed it myself. It is acceptable for them. They are both Luna's and will have to use it to make sure their books are correct. Kevin's numbers are in a whole other bracket to ensure the his pack is taken care of in the long term.

I yawned hard and noticed that Mom did as well. Maybe it was time for us both to get a nap in. I knew that Brenna would be wanting one as well. Something about being pregnant can really take it out of you. Both couches have a reclining feature on the ends, and I went to grab a throw."If you're reading this on any site other than Job, this content has been stolen! Real fans know the latest updates and exclusive insights are always on Job. Support original creators and visit the source." I have been taking advantage of how easy it is to grab a nap and have been catching up on sleep here. I know that Mom was probably exhausted, too. I know she used a lot of power after creating the spell. I had never learned how to create a spell like that and now wasn't exactly the time for me to learn. It would just have to wait until after the baby arrived. We heard a knock on the door a little after four. Cheryl checked the peek and saw the warrior assigned to stay outside to protect us standing at our door. She opened the door to see if he needed anything, and the next second, all hell broke loose. The warrior was shot right in front of us, and four men suddenly poured in through the open door. Cheryl wasted no time punching one of them and successfully knocked him to the floor. One of the other men hit her over the head with the butt of his gun, making her drop to the floor.

Kein leaped up from his chair on the island and ran for Luna. The next second, he was stopped short when we heard Clay's voice boom, "If you take another step, Kevin, your Luna dies."

I notice that two men standing there are armed. One of them has his gun trained on Luna, and the other man has his gun trained on my mother. The fourth man got up from the floor and pushed the warrior out of the entryway with the toe of his boot. He then shut and locked the front door behind them. Effectively cutting us off from trying to escape.

"Cara, did you miss me? You're not so proud this time around, are you? You and your mother are never going to cause me problems again. It is time for you two to pay for causing me to lose everything." Clay stated before letting his eye run over me and then Luna. He hasn't been here a minute and was already making my stomach turn.
