Chapter 71

Eleanor Amato - POV

“Erica, we are pregnant,” I told my wolf, but I didn't hear anything from her. “Erica?”

“Ellie, I am so happy. I was speechless for a couple of moments.” Erica finally spoke. I looked down at the two pink lines again, and I couldn't take my eyes off. “Let's go and tell mate about this.” Erica chimed in, but I shook my head.

Even though I wanted to show this stick to Xavier and see his reaction, I wanted to make this moment a little special. “Let's bake a cake and hide this inside. What do you think?” I suggested.

“That sounds like a great idea too,” Erica said, so I quickly got up from my place and walked out of the bathroom. Initially, I wanted to go to the bakery and bake a cake there, but then I thought better of it and made my way to the kitchen. I first took out all the ingredients that I would need and began making the batter.

Three hours later, the cakes were nicely baked and cooled, so I staked them on a flat plate and began coating them with whipping cream, giving them a crumb coat, and placed them inside the fridge to set.

Ding dong.

Who can that be?

I placed all the dirty dishes inside the sink and washed my hands before I made my way to the front door. As I opened it, a huge smile appeared on my face when I saw Rebecca standing there with a lot of shopping bags in her hand. “When did you come back?” I asked her as I led her into the house.

“Just now, but I wanted to see you the moment we came to the pack,” she told me as she took a seat on the sofa.

“What would you like to drink?”

“Anything cold, Ellie. I am parched,” she said, and I nodded my head and made my way to the kitchen. I looked through the fridge when my eyes landed on a bowl of fresh blueberries, so I took them out and made both of us a tall glass of milkshake. I placed it on the tray, but when I was about to leave the kitchen, my eyes landed on the jar of peanut butter, and my mouth started watering.

Let's have some peanut butter in the milkshake.

I know it sounds weird, but right now, I was craving to have them together. I quickly took the jar, put two generous spoons of peanut butter into one of the glasses, and took it out to the living room. “Here you go.” I gave her one glass, and I took the other.

“What is that brown color thing in your glass?” Rebbeca asked me with a frown.

“Peanut butter.”

“Peanut butter, in a milkshake?” she asked me as she had a disgusted look on her face.

“You will understand soon,” I said in a cryptic tone. “Anyway, what is in all these bags?” I asked her, changing the topic when her eyes moved to the various bags that were haphazardly placed on the floor.

“Well, I got some gifts for everyone I know. Let me show you.” Rebecca said as she placed her glass on the coffee table and began taking out the items. “This is a waffle maker for mom.” she showed me a waffle maker that had three different patterns on it. “And this is for you.” she took out a flat wooden box and handed it over to me.

“What is this?”

“Why don't you open it and see it for yourself.” she asserted, so I placed my glass on the coffee table as well and opened the box. My eyes shone with awe and shock when I saw the beautiful necklace that was inside. There were semi-precious stones of varying sizes and shapes placed in regular intervals around the necklace. But what made it more beautiful was that the stones were all luminous colored.

“Isn't it beautiful?”

“Isn't it expensive?” I retorted. “You know you don't have to get me expensive gifts like this, Becca,” I told her as I closed the box, and when I was about to hand it over to her again, she glared at me.

“It's a gift, Ellie. And I really want you to have it. While Ivan and I were walking along the coastal area, this necklace caught my eye, and it immediately reminded me of you.” she explained.

“But I don't think it's appropriate to gift something this expensive, Becca.”

“You are the only person who is close to me in this pack and who genuinely considers me as your friend, so I don't mind getting this for you.” she asserted.

“Thank you.”

“You're welcome. Now, would you help me wrap this for Mom?” Becca asked me, and I need my head.

It took us half an hour to finish wrapping the gift, and once we were done, Rebecca got up, ready to leave. “I will see you tomorrow.”

“Sure,” I told her, and when we were near the front door, Rebbeca turned around to face me.

“I am going to the human town tomorrow, would you like to come with me, Ellie?”

“Why are you going there?”

“I am going to buy a gift for Ivan since his birthday is in three days,” Rebbeca said.

“Oh, shit! I completely forgot about that.” I said, and a smirk appeared on Rebbeca’s face.

“I forgot as well, but then I saw Mom baking a cake in the bakery, and she was the person who told me.”

“Well, in that case, I will come with you. I have a few things to buy from there as well.” I told Rebecca, and she nodded her head.

“I will see you tomorrow then,” she said and pulled me into a hug, and I nodded my head.

“Okay, take care,” I said. After she left my house, I closed the door and walked back to the kitchen again. I took out the cake to see that it was nicely set. I took the knife, made a hole in the center, and took the pregnancy sticky that I had put inside a zip-lock bag. I slowly placed it inside the cake and covered it before I gave another thin layer of whipping cream and placed it inside the fridge.
