Chapter 68
Eleanor Amato - POV
I quickly covered my mouth and ran towards the bathroom with Xavier right behind me. I barely reached the toilet bowl when I started emptying the contents of my stomach. Tears started flowing down my cheeks while Xavier kept rubbing my back and holding my hair away. “Are you done?” he asked me, and I nodded my head.
My throat felt like someone poured acid on it while the taste of vomit still stuck to my tongue. I walked to the sink and rinsed my mouth a few times with water, followed by mouthwash to get the taste off. “How are you feeling now?”
“Tired, and I still feel nauseous,” I commented, and I saw Xavier roll his eyes at me.
“I told you not to eat weird combinations last night. Now look where it has led.” he scolded me, and this made me pout.
“Would you please stop scolding me? You know there is a saying that you learn from your mistakes, right? So from here on, I will not eat that combination. Are you happy?” I asked him, but he didn't say anything. He led me out of the bathroom and made me sit on the edge of the bed.
“Why don't you lay down on the bed and take some rest? I will get you some chamomile tea.” Xavier said, and I nodded my head and walked to my side of the bed, and laid down while Xavier walked out of the room. “Ellie, Eleanor.” Xavier gently shook me, which made me open my eyes.
“What took you so long?” I asked him as I sat against the headboard. There was a tray on the side table with two slices of toasted bread and a cup of warm chamomile tea.
“I was waiting for the kitchen staff to bring the bread.”
“But I don't feel like eating anything, Xavier,” I complained, but he narrowed his eyes at me.
“You have emptied the content in your stomach, Ellie. And you are so weak. I don't think I will allow you to walk out of this house looking like this.”
“But…”
“At least have one slice.” he insisted, and I nodded my head. He gave me the plate, and with a lot of difficulty, I finished one slice and placed the plate on the table. “Here.” he handed me the cup of tea, which I began to sip while he got up and made his way to the closet. A few minutes later, he came back outside holding two dresses in his hands. “Which one would you want to wear today?”
“I don't like either,” I said as I felt the urge to cry. I don't think I have the perfect dress for this event.
“Woah! Why are you crying, Ellie?” Xavier asked me, panicked.
“I…I don't know. I just feel overwhelmed.” I said, and he placed the dresses on the bed and came and hugged me.
“Shall we both go into your closet and see what is there?” he asked me, and I nodded my head. I don't why I am acting all emotional. I felt silly, but I just cannot control it now. Together, Xavier and I walked into the closet, and my eyes began scanning the clothes that were neatly hung on the rack. The theme for the wedding is the color of the sunset, the bride will be wearing a dress in a pastel purple and pink. “What color do you want to wear today?” he asked me.
“Anything that is pastel and also represents the color found during a sunset,” I said, and as I looked at Xavier, I saw a thoughtful look on his face.
“And you don't really have anything from that color range,” he said, and I nodded my head. I have never tried wearing pastel colors because I feel like it makes me look pale as a ghost, so I have always bought dresses that have vibrant colors on them.
“And you didn't think of this dilemma yesterday?”
“The wedding was supposed to be next month, Xavier, and I had to pull it all up in under three days. Do you expect me to worry about my dress during that time?” I asked him, getting angry.
“Okay, calm down, I will figure something out. Meanwhile, why don't you go and take a shower?”
“Can I trust you?” I asked him with an arched eyebrow, and he nodded his head. He gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze before he walked out of the closet.
Beta Xavier Costa - POV
I walked out of the room and dialed my mother’s number. The phone rang for quite a long time when she finally picked it up. “Mom, good morning.” I greated, but I didn't get any response from her. My heart ached to know that she was still angry at me. “Mom, I am calling to ask a favor from you. Ellie is attending Ivan’s wedding today, and she doesn't have a dress to wear, could you please help her out?” I asked her, but I still didn't get any response. I felt like I was talking to a wall at this point. “The color theme is the sunset in pastel colors,” I told her, and a few minutes later, she cut the call.
“Will she send a dress?” Kyle asked me.
“I hope so. Let's wait and see.” I told him as I walked downstairs to make some breakfast for myself. I made an omelet, a few strips of bacon, baked beans, and some toast. I soon sat down and began eating my food when I heard the doorbell.
Who can that be?
I got up from my place and made my way to open the door. As I opened I saw an omega standing there with a bag in her hand. “Beta Knight.” she greated as she bowed her head. “Mrs. Costa told me to give this to you,” she said as she handed the bag.
“Thank you,” I told her, and she nodded her head and walked away. I closed the door, made my way to my room, placed the dress on the bed, and walked back downstairs to finish my breakfast.
