Chapter 66

Eleanor Amato - POV

I stayed outside in the backyard watching him clean while browsing through my Instagram feed.

Ring, ring.

It was a call from my dad, so without a second thought, I answered the phone. “Hello?”

“Hi, Eleanor, how are you doing, dear?” he asked me while my heart swelled with bliss. I can't even imagine how many years I had yearned to hear him ask me this question.

“I am doing great. Do you have any updates regarding Avery’s whereabouts?” I asked him when my eyes landed on the omega again. Shit, this information is supposed to be classified. With one last look towards the omega, I walked inside the house and made my way to the living room.

“I got intel from one of the trackers that they have found a piece of her dress, so hopefully we can find her soon,” Dad said, but I could hear the sorrow in his words.

“Don't worry, dad. We will find her soon.” I reassured him. “Okay, I got to go. Shall I call you again later?” I asked him.

“Sure, honey. Take care.”

“Okay, bye, Dad,” I said, and the phone was disconnected. I got up from the sofa and walked to the backyard again when I saw that the omega was missing.

Where did he go?

I quickly made my way inside the house, but he was not there, and I walked to the foyer walked, I saw him standing near the front door. “Where were you?” I asked him with suspicion.

“I was done cleaning the gutters, ma'am, so I was waiting outside for you, but when you didn't come out, I came into the house to check,” he replied, and I didn't hear a tremble or a pause in his speech which means he was telling the truth.

“Okay, thank you for helping me out with the gutter,” I told him, and he nodded his head, and walked out of the house. I was about to head upstairs when the doorbell rang, so I went to open the door.

“Mom?” It's been quite some time since I last saw her, and I didn't even get the time to visit her as well.

“I was starting to miss you, so I had to come and see what you were doing,” she said walked closer to me, and pulled me into a hug.

“Me too,” I said and pulled away from the embrace. “Please come in,” I said. We made our way to the kitchen, and I made her take a seat at the breakfast table and started preparing a strawberry milkshake for the both of us.

“I can see the bridal glow on your face,” Mom commented as I brought the milkshakes to the table.

“You knew about this earlier?” I asked her, and she nodded her head as she took a sip of her milkshake.

“Xavier asked for our suggestion before he printed that card and gave it to you,” she said. After that, we spoke about the upcoming mating ceremony when Mom finally left the house since she had a luncheon with her friends. After I had washed the glasses, I made my way to the bakery.

As I walked inside, I saw Rebecca at the cashier. “Looks like you have got a new job?” I asked her.

“Yes, and I love it here,” she said with glee, and a smile appeared on my face.

“Yep, I can see that. You have put on a few pounds.”

“All thanks to the apple pie. I just cannot resist,” she said. “Anyway, what would you like to have?”

“I will have a slice of apple pie and some maple syrup,” I ordered, a frown appeared on her face.

“Why do you need maple syrup?”

“For the apple pie,” I said in a duh tone while she gave me a weird look. I know that combination sounds weird, but since last night, I have been having a craving to eat that, so I am going to fulfill it now.

“Okay, why don't you take a seat, I will bring the food to your table?” she asked me, and I nodded my head, and walked away. A few minutes later, Mrs. Tanner came with my order.

“Mrs. Tanner, how are you?”

“I am doing great, dear. How are you?”

“Fine as well,” I said, and she placed my food on the table and took a seat opposite me.

“Darling, if I ask something, will you be able to do it for me?” she asked me, and I nodded my head. “Is it possible to have Ivan’s and Rebecca’s mating ceremony in three days? I know that is very close, but.”

“Why the sudden change in dates, Mrs. Tanner.”

“I feel sorry for that girl, Eleanor. I know it was me who told you to have it after a month. But that was because I was a little wary about her. And I wasn't sure if she truly loved my son. But now I have seen enough of your affection, and I don't want to keep them apart anymore.” she explained, and I nodded my head.

“Give me a minute, Mrs. Tanner,” I told her, and she nodded her head. I pulled out my phone and called the wedding venue to check if it was available, and then I made a few calls to the flower shop as well. “I think we are lucky, Mrs. Tanner. The venue is available for that date, and the florist also told me that she can arrange the flowers to be delivered as well.”

“Thank you so much, Eleanor.”

“That's not a problem. So what about the cake shall I…”

“I know you have been baking cakes for all the new brides, but can I make the cake this time?” she asked me, and I nodded my head.

“Sure, I think that would make Ivan even more happy,” I told her, and she nodded her head.

“I am sorry to move this forward like this, Eleanor.”

“That's all right. I am happy that you took such a decision, Mrs. Tanner.”
