Chapter 6
Eleanor Amato - POV
Xavier ignored the man’s questions walked toward me, and extended his hand for me to take. With a little hesitation, I placed my hand on his, and for a moment, we froze in that position while the sparks traveled all over my body, making a shiver travel down my spine. Xavier quickly pulled me up and steadied me before he let my hand go. The smell of peaches and pears invaded my nose, making me momentarily close my eyes.
“So, anyone wants to explain what is going on in here?” the man asked, and that was when Xavier finally turned around to face him.
“I found my mate,” he said in a monotone, and this made a surprised look appear on the man’s face.
“Wow, I never expected that,” he exclaimed while he looked at me in awe.
“Can I speak to you in private?” Xavier asked the man, and he nodded his head before Xavier turned around to face me. “Would you mind staying here for a few minutes?” Xavier asked me, and I nodded my head.
“Sure, I will meet you here after I go to the restroom and come?” I asked him, and he nodded his head before the man and he walked back into the room that they walked out of earlier. As soon as the door closed behind me, I walked in search of the restroom and quickly locked the door behind me.
My heart was beating hard against my ribcage while what just happened a few minutes ago began to slowly sink in. “I found my mate,” I mumbled in the silent bathroom, and this brought a smile to my face. Even though he didn't display any sort of emotions I know that he must have already accepted me as his mate.
“Of course he did. I mean, he would not have introduced us to that guy if he didn't accept us.” Erica chimed in, and I could clearly hear the bliss in her voice.
“I never in my wildest dream thought that I would meet my mate today, Erica,” I said, and she nodded her head. I was practically floating on cloud nine when a thought slowly dampened my mood.
“I never asked who he was. I mean, what if he was a Gamma or a beta?”
“Despite his ranking, he is our mate, and he did accept us, so I know he would never reject us,” Erica reassured me, and I nodded my head. I quickly did my business in the washroom, and after washing my hands, I walked out of there and made my way to the room where Xavier and the man went in.
The door was still closed, so I waited outside. A couple of minutes later, the door opened, and Xavier and the man walked out. The smirk that was previously on the man’s face was now replaced with a frown, and he looked like he was annoyed about something, which filled my mind cloud with confusion.
What went on inside that room?
“What is your name, sweetheart?” Xavier's voice distracted me, and I turned my attention back to him.
“I am Eleanor. Eleanor Amato.” I said, and he nodded his head.
“I am Xavier Costa, the beta of the Full Moon pack, and this is Samuel Derek, Alpha of the Full Moon pack.” Xavier introduced. A sense of dread started forming in the pit of my stomach, but I pushed that feeling down.
Xavier would love us as his mate.
I repeated and turned around to face the Alpha. “It's nice to meet you, Alpha Derek,” I said and extended my hand, and he took mine in a firm handshake.
“My pleasure, and welcome to the pack,” he said, and I nodded my head. “I will meet you at the ballroom, Xavier,” he spoke before he walked from there, leaving us alone.
Nervousness started to slowly creep in, and I averted my glance from my mate’s. “I would love to sit and get to know you, but I guess we might have to attend the Moon Ball right now,” Xavier said, and I nodded my head and started walking back to the ballroom. When we arrived at the entrance, the two warriors bowed their heads at Xavier and opened the door for us.
“Eleanor,” Xavier whispered, and I looked up at him. “Stay by my side and smile,” he whispered before he grabbed my hand and walked inside. Sparks kept shooting up through my arms, making me forget that we just entered a ballroom filled with people.
Xavier and I made our way to various tables, and he engaged in conversations with a lot of alphas while I kept stealing glances at my handsome mate like a love-sick teenager. I must say he was one of the finest male specimens that I have ever seen. He towered a good few inches above my 5’8 frame, and he had a lot more muscles than Gamma Dante. His black hair was tossed to the side, and I had a strong urge to run my hands through his hair, which made it hard for me to keep my hand to myself.
“Eleanor!” I turned around so fast that I almost got a whiplash. My father was walking towards me with anger clearly written all over his face, and this made me take a slight step back. “What the hell are you doing?” he hissed, which made Xavier finally turn around to face us.
“Who is this, Eleanor?” Xavier asked me with a puzzled look on his face.
“This is my father,” I said.
“I am so sorry, Beta Costa. I didn't know my daughter would throw herself at you like this. I had already warned her when we were coming in here.” my father explained, and this made my eyes widen in shock.
How can he say something like that about me when he clearly knows whose the slut in our family is.
“I wasn't throwing myself at anyone.” I sneered back, and this only made my father glare at me.
“Gamma Amato,” Xavier spoke which made my father look at my mate, and his face changed from anger to a neutral look. “I had been intending to talk to you later, but I guess we might have to sort it out now. Eleanor is my mate.”
“What!”
