Beta Xavier Costa.

Chapter 43

Beta Xavier Costa - POV

Small droplets of rain started falling down on us, so I moved closer to Eleanor and pulled her onto my lap. Her body temperature was dropping even though the blood flow had stopped.

Shit! Where the hell is Marquez?

Beep.

I looked towards the road to see three SUVs come to a stop. A couple of moments later, Marquez got down from one of them, alongside a few warriors. “Xavier!” I heard him yell.

“I am here,” I yelled back, and I saw them walk into the forest.

“What happened to her?” Marquez looked scared and shocked when he saw Eleanor, but there was no time to waste right now. Her pulse was already faint, and I didn't think we could keep her like this for a long time. I quickly got up from the muddy forest floor and gently carried her in my arms.

“A trailer collided with my car, and he just left,” I said as I walked towards the SUV with Marquez right behind me.

“I have asked the warriors to do a proper check of the surroundings. I have a feeling that this was a planned attack.” Marquez said, and I nodded my head. As I reached one of the vehicles, he opened the door for me, and I quickly got inside.

“Aren't you going to come?” I asked him, but he shook his head.

“I will come later. You take her to the hospital.” Marquez said as he closed the door, and soon the driver drove off. We reached the pack hospital in under fifteen minutes, and as soon as the vehicle came to a stop in front of the hospital entrance, I got out of the car and gently took Eleanor in my arms.

A few nurses and a doctor rushed toward me, but I didn't wait for anyone to bring a stretcher, instead, I ran straight to the operating room. “Beta Costa, please place her on this stretcher.” the doctor said, but I didn't want to let her go. “Beta Costa.” letting out a sigh, I gently placed her on the stretcher, and soon they wheeled her inside.

I stood rooted to my spot while my entire focus was on the door. I have never felt this afraid in my life, but the thought of losing her made my heart stop beating for a second. “Xavier.” I turned around to see Mom and Dad rush towards me. “Where is Eleanor?” Mom asked me, but I was not able to answer her question.

Instead, I looked towards the operation theater. “Mom, will she make it?” I asked her, for the first time, I felt vulnerable, I didn't know what to do. Nurses and omega were rushing in and out of there, and every time the door opened for a fraction of a second, I saw Eleanor. She looked so small lying down on that huge bed while the doctors were taking out the glass shards from her skin.

“She will be all right, Xavier,” she reassured me as she placed a hand on my shoulder and lightly squeezed it.

“You should go and change your clothes, son.” my dad said, but I didn't want to leave her side. “We will stay here. Don't worry,” he said, and I nodded my head and walked out of there. I went back to my house, and after taking a quick shower, I went straight to the hospital again.

This time, Samuel was sitting with my parents, but there was a third person as well, whom I didn't even want in there. “What are you doing in here?” I growled when I saw Ivan, and this made him get up from his chair.

“Ellie, is in a serious condition in there, so I came to see her,” he answered, but I still didn't want him in here.

“Xavier.” I looked towards Samuel when he shook his head, warning me to stay down. The operation lasted for two hours, and those two hours felt like the longest and most excruciating time in my life.

Click.

When the operation theater door opened again, I looked up to see that the doctor had stepped out. I quickly got up from my place and made my way over to her. “Doctor, how is she doing now?” I asked her.

“We were able to stabilize her and stop the blood flow, beta Costa. But…” she dragged, and I saw a look of sadness cross her face.

“Spit it out, doctor!”

“She has slipped into a coma, Beta Costa. We don't know when she would wake up.” this news made everything around me crumble.

How can that happen? Why didn't her wolf save her?

“How is that possible?”

“Even though you stitched up the wound to prevent the blood loss, a lot of blood had already been lost, Beta Costa. She was hanging on to her life when you brought her here, and that was all thanks to her wolf, but now, I guess both of them have slipped into a coma.”

“When will she wake up, doctor?” I heard Samuel ask.

“I can not tell for certain, Alpha Derek. She can wake up in a few hours, a few days, or even months,” she said, and she had an apologetic look. “I am sorry, but we will do all we can to wake her up sooner.”

“Thank you, doctor,” Samuel said, and she nodded her head before she walked out of there. “Xavier.” I looked at him. “Let's go to my office,” he said, and I nodded my head as we walked out of there, I saw Ivan walking out of the hospital as well.

When we reached Samuel’s office, he opened the door for me to enter, and after we were inside, he locked the door behind us. “Do you know who did this?”

“No, but I saw a rogue looking at us. But I am still confused as to why the rogue wants to kill us.”

“We will find that out. But I want to tell you something else as well,” he began, and I nodded my head for him to continue. “The exact same time you were involved in an accident, a group of rogues attacked our pack borders, and three of the warriors were badly injured,” Samuel said, and a frown appeared on my face.

“Do you think it is a coincidence or a planned attack?” I asked him.
