Chapter 42
Eleanor Amato - POV
Xavier let out an annoyed sigh before he walked toward me and gently lifted me up in his arms. “Bring her inside, Xavier. I will treat her wounds first.” Eliza said, and Xavier nodded his head and walked inside the store. The moment we entered the room that Eliza and Xavier were in a moment ago, my nostrils were bombarded with the scent of fresh roses and jasmine.
“Wow, your flowers smell really good, Miss. Eliza.” I said, and this made a smile appear on her face.
“Thank you, dear. I think a little magic does the job pretty well,” she said. Xavier placed me on the sofa that was there while Eliza walked towards me with a medical box. “Show me your hand first,” she asked me, and I showed her my elbow, which was covered in blood, mud, and dust.
“What are you doing here, Eleanor?” Xavier questioned, once Eliza was done patching me up.
“I thought you were going to cheat on me again,” I mumbled, and this made him raise an eyebrow at me.
“You know how dangerous it is to come out of pack territory, right?” Xavier asked me, and I saw the anger in his eyes.
“I know, I am sorry. That would not happen again.” I apologized, but it looks like he is not ready to forgive me anytime soon.
“Leave her alone, Xavier. Women tend to be a little possessive at times.” Eliza chimed in. I expected Xavier to say something rude to her, but surprisingly, he kept his mouth shut.
“Who are you guys looking for?” I asked, breaking the silence in the room. Eliza briefly looked at Xavier before she answered my question.
“A girl is missing from your packwhod that is whom we are looking for,” she answered, and I nodded my head.
“Let's get going. I am getting late.” Xavier said, and I nodded my head and slowly got up from the sofa.
“Thank you for patching me up, Eliza,” I said, and she nodded her head as we walked out of her shop. I was about to walk back to the place where I parked my car when Xavier held my hand.
“Where are you going now?”
“To the car. I left it down the street.”
“Forget it, I will send someone to get it later. Come and get inside,” he said as he gently dragged me towards his car. After I was seated inside, Xavier put the car to drive, and we were soon off. The ride back to the pack was filled with tension.
“Don't do anything like this again,” Xavier spoke after a long time, which made me look up at him.
“It wasn't my fault that I was doubtful about you, Xavier,” I mumbled, but he shook his head.
“Listen here, Eleanor,” he said while one of his eyes was focused on me. “I am not going to sleep with anyone till you are here with me. So…”
“Xavier!” I screamed, interrupting his speech. But it was too late, the car collided head-on with the trailer while it rolled several times before crashing into a tree. The airbags were out while the glasses had shattered, and I knew some of them were deeply embedded within my skin.
My eyes were moving in and out of consciousness while I looked toward Xavier to see that he was unconscious. “Xa…Xavier.” I tried touching his shoulder and shaking him awake, but it was of no use.
I felt my entire body numb, so I didn't know the extent of my damage. My hand slowly touched my neck as I brought it to my line of sight, I saw that it was covered with blood. A glass was embedded in my neck, and I was losing a lot of blood as well.
“X…Xavier.” my breathing became shallow, and I couldn't hold my eyes open any longer, so I succumbed to the darkness.
Beta Xavier Costa - POV
I growled as I woke up. My head was pounding while I looked around my surroundings to see that the car was trashed. I tried moving my leg, but an excruciating pain shot through my right leg. I looked down to see that a huge piece of glass was embedded in my thigh. Taking a few deep breaths, I pulled the glass out and threw it to the back seat.
“What happened to mate?” Kyle started to panic, and that was when I turned around to see Eleanor. All the blood in my body drained when I saw how pale she looked. Her clothes were soaked with blood while blood was still flowing through the cut in her neck.
“Eleanor,” I tried to shake her, but she didn't move. With great difficulty, I got out of the vehicle, and that was when I made direct eye contact with a wolf staring at me from the other side of the road. My senses began to alert, and I waited to see what it would do next.
We stared at one another for a long time before it turned around and left. I quickly made my way to the passenger side and yanked open the door. The moment the door came off its hinges, Eleanor fell towards me.
“Eleanor!” I tried feeling for a pulse, but it was very faint.
“We will have to take that glass from her neck.”
“But wouldn't that increase the blood flow?”
“It will, but we have a medical kit in the car, right?” Kyle asked me, and I nodded my head. I quickly took it out from the back and walked towards Eleanor again.
“I am sorry, Eleanor. This is going to hurt.” I said, and I stepped closer to her and gently pulled the glass piece out. Even after I took it out, there was still no reaction from her, and seeing her in this way made my eyes water.
It was all my fault, I should have concentrated on the road.
I cleaned the wound with disinfectant and started stitching it up. Once I was done, I put a bandage around it and stepped back. I looked up at the sky to see that it was starting to get dark, suggesting that rain was about to come.
We need to call for help.
I mumbled and mind-linked Marquez.
