Beta Xavier Costa.

Chapter 12

Eleanor Amato - POV

“When can I start, Alpha Derek?” I asked him. I know I sound too eager to work, but if I go back to that house again, I might start thinking about everything that happened yesterday.

“Your office is all set, but I guess you might have to take a look around the pack before you get started,” he suggested and turned his glance to Marquez.

“Will you be able to show her around?”

“Sure, I don't have any training sessions for the next two hours,” Marquez said as he got up from his place, and I did the same.

“Have a nice day, Alpha Derek.” I greeted him and walked towards the door.

“Eleanor.” his voice made me stop, and I turned around to face me. “Call me Samuel or Sam when we are in private,” he said with a smile, and I nodded my head before I walked out. Marquez first led me towards another hallway where he pointed out Xavier’s office, and my office was right next door.

“Don't you guys have any other vacant places?” I asked Marquez, and a sad look crossed his head.

“It is a custom to always have your mate next to you, Eleanor. And this room has been used by all the previous beta females, too.” Marquez explained, and I nodded my head. Well, I don't think I can completely avoid Xavier after all. We walked out of the pack house, and Marquez led me toward the training grounds where a few people were training. The entire tour lasted for more than two hours, but Marquez was kind enough to not leave me till he had shown everything. “That is all. Do you need to do anything?” Marquez asked me, but I shook my head.

“You should go and do your duties, Marquez. I have already taken enough of your time.” I said.

“Are you sure?” he asked me, and I nodded my head.

“Okay, see you around, Ellie,” Marquez said before he pulled me into a friendly hug and then ran toward the training ground. In the two hours that we were together, we had pretty much got know each other, and he also decided to call me using my nickname.

I walked back to the pack house and walked down the hallway to my office when I saw a woman standing in front of Xavier’s office. From the flimsy dress and the excess makeup, I know that this woman is not here to discuss pack business.

I didn't know I had stopped in my tracks when the woman turned around to face me. A puzzled look crossed her face when recognition soon overcame that look. A smirk was plastered on her face while her eyes were sparkling with mischief. She briefly glanced at the door before she started walking towards me.

“Hello, I am Jade.” she introduced herself and extended her hand for a handshake. I looked at her hand for a couple of minutes when I finally placed mine on hers.

“Eleanor,” I said and quickly took my hand back.

“Of course, I know you. You are Xavier’s mate,” she said in her sickly sweet voice, and for a second, I wondered if I had misjudged her. She closed her eyes and sniffed the air before her eyes opened again, and this time, her smile only widened. “Well, looks like you guys haven't completed your mate bond.” she asserted, but I remained silent.

“I don't think that is none of your business,” I said in a defensive tone, but she shook her head.

“Of course, it is my business. Well, I pity Xav, I told him that he should have just rejected you. You don't even look like the type of girl he fucks.” my hands curled into fists, but I remained quiet.

“Let me out, and I will tear that bitch's throat!” Erica growled, but I held her back because I knew that she was very capable of doing that.

“I don't have time to waste talking to you, excuse me,” I said, but when I was about to walk away, she stepped in my way.

“I think you just go back to your pack, sweetie. Xavier is never going to like you. I mean, look at you.” she exclaimed as she looked at me from head to toe. “You don't even have any curves, and your boobs look almost nonexistent.” she asserted, and this made me roll my eyes.

“Yeah right, and you definitely have boobs bigger than me because they are threatening to spill out of that nonexistent dress you are wearing,” I told her in a monotone, and this made her mouth widen in shock. I bet she didn't expect me to talk back. I walked closer to her till we were only an inch apart.

Well, I am not as innocent as you think, bitch.

“I suggest you don't meddle with me, Jade,” I said in a low tone, which made her take a step back. “Now move the fuck away, bitch.” I said this louder and sidestepped her, and right when I was about to pass Xavier’s office, his door opened, and he walked out.

“Why did you…” he stopped midway when he saw me. I held his glance for a couple of seconds before I walked passed him and entered my office.

After closing my door, I walked to my desk, took a seat, and placed my head on my palms. “How am I going to survive this shit for six months?”

“Didn't you see his eyes?” Erica asked me, but I shook my head. I seriously have no time for her bullshit, either. “He wants us, Ellie.”

“It's just the mate bond talking, Erica. I know you want him, and maybe his wolf might want us, but he clearly despises us.” I tried to explain it to her, but she chose to ignore me and put our block up.

Knock knock.

“Come in,” I called out, and soon the door opened, and a young couple entered. “Please come in. You must be Jane and Philip.” I asked, and they nodded their heads.

“Thank you for having us on such short notice, Miss.Amato.”

“My pleasure, so shall we discuss about your mating ceremony?” I asked them, and a beautiful blush formed on Jane’s cheeks.
