Beta Mates

She ran quickly to the edge of the clearing and stripped down behind the trees and changed into her wolf and took off running. Adam started to go after her and the Alpha and her brother stopped him. Kane held up his hand and said “let her calm down and cool off. Her wolf is savage and hard to control so just let her run a while. How angry she is right now she could do damage to you easily and would regret it afterwards. “ “She is a powerful Beta and will be fine on her own.”

Kara felt the wind on her face and heard her paws running through the forest path, she was trying to calm down and put her thoughts in order. She knew how the pack males were with not waiting for their mates and just taking satisfaction from willing females in their pack but she had always hoped that her mate would not succumb to temptation and wait for her. She has waited for him and will go into the mating a virgin. Not that she hadn’t had opportunities to be with others in her journeys but she felt strongly about keeping herself for her chosen mate. It angered and saddened her that her mate did not choose to feel the same way. Maybe it has something to do with her being three quarters wolf instead of pure wolf. Her father is a pure breed but her mother is half human and half wolf.

She was also terrified if she admitted to herself about the situation where both the Alpha and the Beta thought she was their mate. She is a one mate sort of wolf and didn’t want to even consider a double mating. There was a mystery to explore in that situation because the Alpha did not act the same way Adam did. They were both gorgeous specimens with the Alpha having black hair and blue eyes and a tall rugged build close to six feet seven inches tall where Adam was around six foot four inches tall and the burly build of a warrior with short blonde hair cut in the military style with stunning jade green eyes.

At least he is handsome and looks like an underwear model she thought. Then she thought angrily why should I care? I can’t trust someone like him. Maybe I should just deny his claim and go back to the Savanna pack and mate with Cage. He was a gorgeous guy that was also a Beta and her human side was attracted to him. He was the one she was tempted to succumb to the most.

Damn him! she thought, why does this have to happen? I have resisted temptation and worked hard to be a better person and wolf and now it is thrown back in my face! My wolf Mia was whining in my head so I let her send me her message. She doesn’t want me to reject their claim because it has been so long. She doesn’t want to risk losing her mate permanently. Just wait and let him and his wolf prove themselves to us. He doesn’t have to mark and claim us today.

Kara sighed heavily, I’m not happy with the situation but you are right. There is no reason to punish you or his wolf just because he was a jerk and made bad decisions before I came around. But be warned, I will not make it easy for him! Just then she looked up and scented the sour stench of rouge wolves blowing on the wind. She shifted back into her wolf and howled a warning to the hidden warrior. The warrior mind connected with the Alpha and let him know the position of the rouge wolves and to send backup.

There were three wolves moving towards her growling with their heads between their shoulders. I’m sure they think I’m an easy target thought Kara. She met them and let her wolf Mia take over. Mia tore into the shoulder of the first wolf that reached them and he circled and tried to rip away from her sharp teeth. Mia is a large wolf for a female and since she is a high ranking Beta as well she is a formidable wolf. She continued to attack the rogue and managed to get a neck hold and ripped out his throat. She turned and started attacking the second rogue while the warrior was holding his own with the third. She faked a dive and grabbed and broke the rogues front leg with a savage bite. She turned and slammed into him and knocked him off his feet and ripped out his throat. In the meantime the warrior from the pack also brought down his enemy.
