Beta Mates

“No, we aren’t even related, stated the blonde man. “I am Shane’s Beta, Adam”. “Well the only times I’ve ever heard of double mating is with twins or siblings and I don’t know how to handle one male let alone having two to deal with! ” exclaimed Kara.

As the two men approached closer Kara inhaled deeply and caught the scent of sunshine and the earth after a spring rain. It was coming from the tall, blonde man named Adam. Her wolf was going crazy in her head crying "Mate Mate". "Well my wolf is telling me it is Adam and not giving me any sign of interest in the Alpha." Alpha Shane looked hurt and disappointed. He has been waiting for a mate since he has been eighteen and is twenty six now.

He can still smell his mate on Kara and is puzzled. “Why don’t we let you get settled in and unpacked and have a meeting about this with Adam in a couple hours. Let things calm down and get something to eat and we can come to some agreement.” “Sounds good” said Kara and Adam. Shane started walking towards the pack house to arrange a meal and Adam hung behind. Yes he is definitely our mate, the scent coming off him was clearer without the Alpha around. His wolf was giving him the same problem that Kara was having because his mate was there in front of him. She is beautiful like most wolves are, but curvier with shoulder length curly chestnut hair that has fiery copper highlights and warm brown eyes, he thought.

Adam came closer and stared intently into her warm brown eyes with new emotions swirling through him. He could never put into words the feeling of being able to find his lifelong mate. He pulled her closer and touched her lips to his and felt the explosions and tingles of the mating pull. She moaned softly in his mouth, similarly affected. Before he could deepen the kiss a female werewolf walked up to the couple and interrupted them by addressing Adam. “Last night was wonderful, can we do it again tonight?” He pulled away and glared at the female and Kara caught the scent of her mate all over the intruder.

Kara’s wolf went wild and wanted to take control so she could savage the unknown female for daring to be close to her mate let alone having been intimate with him, which she obviously was by his scent all over her! Kara swung around and confronted Adam, “why does she smell like you and what is going on here? Have you already mated someone else?” Adams cheeks turned red and a muscle clenched in his jaw, “no we aren’t mated she was just available and doesn’t mean anything.” The female wolf smirked and walked away, not phased about his comment at all. After all she was one of the low ranking pack females that just kept the lonely males with no mates happy.

Kara’s temper went off like a bomb and she started yelling at him, “well it might not have meant anything to you to scratch an itch but it does mean something to me!” She stormed angrily away and caught the Alpha walking out of the pack house. “Alpha Shane, may I shift and take a run for a while? My wolf needs to calm down and I don’t know how long I can keep in control.” He knew what had transpired through the pack link so he said “go east and stay near the water and you won’t have to worry about crossing the pack borders.” The Alpha turned and sent a pack warrior to follow at a safe distance to make sure she didn’t run into trouble. Adam grumbled, not liking another male near his mate.
