Beta Mates

Adam ran in his wolf form for hours. Even though it was night time he could still see well with the help of his wolfs night vision. Zane, his wolf was unhappy with the thought of someone else touching his mate. Adam remembered last night when he was making love with his mate and how hesitant she was so he knew she was inexperienced and was definitely a virgin. That made Zane feel better. Zane wasn’t worried about Kara killing, he felt it made for a stronger mate. Adam didn’t really have a problem with it either. She did it for the good of the pack and knew her well enough that she wasn’t cold hearted enough to just kill for revenge. He understood her need to protect the pack and supported her training of both the males and females whole heartedly. Times have changed and the packs have to change too or we will go extinct. Adam sighed and turned to go back to the pack. He knew he had to clear the air with his new mate. He felt her pain through the new bond between them when he left. He couldn’t hold anything against her with the potential mating when he did worse with Denise, the pack female.

Kara pulled herself together and went up to her room and washed her face. She felt his hurt and anger through their new bond and it broke her heart to make him feel that way. She had to admit to herself that she loves him with everything inside her now. There is no holding back anymore. She would talk to the Alpha King and see what she could do about helping the pack, especially when the babies started coming. Surely in this day and age she could have the best of both worlds. She took the time to go visit Adam’s sister Missy and play with the kids. She explained to Missy what was happening with Adam and Missy counseled her to be patient. The fated mate bond has ways to work problems out.

Kate was with Alpha Shane in seclusion. She started with her heat cycle just this afternoon so they would be away for a week. She missed having her sister around teasing her. She rarely saw her brother since they got to this pack. He was either hanging out with other unmatched males or checking out the available females when not training groups with her.

She grabbed a sandwich from the kitchen area and decided to take a swim since it was a warm night. She ran up to her room and changed into a bikini, grateful that she bought a more modest one in town. She walked down to the pool area and slipped into the cool water that felt good against her heated skin. It had been a hot and sticky summer day. She swam in the water like a sleek otter and decided to swim some laps to burn off excess energy. She felt eyes staring at her and looked up to see Adam watching her. She looked up at him and huskily said “hi”. He stood with his arms folded and feet apart. His face was expressionless. He stripped his tee shirt off over his head and sat on the edge of the pool in just his shorts. His eyes never leaving her face. “Come here” he growled huskily. She swam over to him and placed her hands on his thighs above his knees. He placed his hands on hers and slid them up to her forearms and lifted her up to give him a kiss. Her lips were cool and tasted like chlorine against his. He pulled her over until she was sitting on his lap. She started protesting because she was soaking him but he growled he didn’t care.

Kara looked up at him and touched his strong jaw. “I’m sorry for everything. I was mixed up for a while but nothing really matters but you and me. You have my heart and soul and I love you.” His eyes met hers and he told her “I’m sorry too, I can’t blame you for something when I’ve done worse to you. You know how I feel about your work. I support you and stand behind you all the way. I’m head Beta of this pack and I don’t think you are a murderer any worse than I or any of my warriors are. We guard and protect the pack.” She could feel the truth of his statements through their bond and she loved him all the more for him being so understanding and supportive of her. She kissed him long and lovingly. He pulled away long enough to tell her he loves her and resumed the kiss that was quickly becoming heated.
