Beta Mates

As she made her way to the office she wondered what would be the result of the meeting. She didn’t know this pack and wondered if she would have a say in her future or if it would be an Alpha decision. She knew she would not be happy if her opinion was not taken into account. She tapped on the door which was slightly ajar and Shane called for her to come in. Adam was already present and seated. She took the seat next to Adam while Shane set at his huge scarred desk. Shane stood up and walked around the corner of the desk to Kara. He inhaled deeply, “Its funny, he said the scent is still there but weak. Do you block your scent? There is another stronger scent of peonies and spring rain. The lighter scent smells of roses and vanilla.” No I am not blocking my scent. That would take special herbs that I don’t have in my possession right not. You said roses and vanilla? Shane nodded an affirmative. I think I have an answer to this riddle if you will excuse me a minute, said Kara.

She jumped up and left the room without a word and the men just looked at each other curiously and shrugged. She came back five minutes later with a purse and a pair of shoes in her hands. Could you please scent these Shane? He came near and inhaled deeply in their direction. "Yes that is the scent of my mate." Kara smiled broadly and exclaimed "the mystery is solved. My sister breaks in my shoes for me because we have the same size foot and she took my purse and was using it when I was home recently. I actually made her unload it this morning so I could use it on this trip which is why her scent is so strong on it." Shane growled lowly and demanded she call her sister and get her here immediately.

He stalked away and she looked at Adam with surprise. Adam explained that Shane has been hunting for is mate since he has been eighteen and had almost given up. She turned and walked towards the exit and continued to the patio area where she pulled out her cell phone and called her sister. “Katie, guess what?! I found your mate in the Sickle Moon pack. He is the Alpha named Shane. “ Katie let out a squeal that almost deafened her sister. “Please warn me when you do that!” Winced Kara “you almost broke my eardrum!” Kara filled her in on all the details and explained about the mate mix up. Katie was thrilled to hear that Kara also found her mate. "Shane wants to meet you as soon as possible, how soon can you get here?" Katie checked with her mother and said she could be there in a couple days. "Send me a picture of my new mate and yours too. I want to show Mom and Dad. Mom will be over the moon with the news!" “Are you kidding!? laughed Kara, “she probably has your wedding dress all picked out and has suggestions for names of your first born.” Katie chuckled in agreement. They finished up with directions on how to get to the pack and hung up. It will be nice to see my sister again so soon, thought Kara. She will be very pleased with her mate.
