I stand at the doors with Lucy on one side and Casey on the other.

Zander is talking with Ricky. Owen hands him a paper and Jake leans around Ricky and says something. The other Alphas are looking at me. I wish they would stop.

Everyone takes their seats.

Zander leans on the table. “Quinten, stand.”

I try to keep calm as I rise to my feet. Wes stands with me. I hang my head.

“I have read your statements, Quinn. Though it’s disappointing to say the least, it’s this councils decision to include your addiction into your defense. Though, not an excuse, we understand how it could cloud the judgement of a mind as unique as yours. We also have to include your age as a factor. You maybe hyper mature, but it’s the medical examiners opinion that you still harbor the child mentality of your actual wolfs age. This also could affect the decisions you make.” Zanders tone is deep and authoritative.

I breathe a shaky breath and nod.

“Some council members wish to also include the capture of the Lycan Killer. We commend you on that and wish to thank you.” He says.

I glance up and nod again.

“We understand you are standing before us today to plead?” He asks.

I clear my throat. “Um…Yeah…Yes.” My eyes quickly meet those of the all the Alphas.

“And how do you plead?”

“Guilty…Your highness.” I choke.

Anne’s quiet cries hit my ears and I breathe deep, trying not to break myself.

“Fine.” He looks around the table and back at me. “Quieten Preston. For the crimes of assault and battery of 25 Phoenix Citizens, 3 years incarceration in the Phoenix City Prison Unit. Maximum Security.”

The room rises in mumbles and my mother joins Anne in her cries. I turn to meet Paiselys eyes who’s trying so hard to be brave. My dad is scrubbing his face.

“Order. Order in the council room.” Zander waits for everyone settle down. “For the charge of evading capture and breaking out of the PCE holding Unit, 6 years house arrest in Phoenix City's group home for men. You will be electronically tracked and suppressed with psychological assessments and addiction recovery every three months. Your wolf will be allowed 3 hours each month to run with an electric net collar and armed escorts in a designated area. This sentence will stand until such time you are deemed no longer a threat. When you leave here today, your Lycan will be suppressed and your DNA blocked. Do you understand the sentence as I’ve explained it to you.”

“Yes. Yes, sir.” I choke.

“I’ll give you some time to say goodbye to your family, then you’ll be escorted to the medical wing of the prison to be processed.” He eyes me. “You’ve come a long way, Quinn. A far cry from that little boy I met 10 years ago. I hope you take this time for some deep reflection and realize that you are much more than what you think. There’s still a lot of hope for you and your family. Take this time to figure out where you want to be and who you want to be.”

I stand and face him like the man I’m supposed be.

The Alphas stand. “Council adjourned.” Zander says solemnly.

I turn around and my family is already lined up behind the barrier.

My mother and Anne hug me. Crying on my shoulders.

“I’m sorry, mom.” I mumble. I wish I could hug them back, but I’m still chained.

She holds the back of my head. “It’s ok, baby. We’ll try and visit as much as we can ok?”

I nod as the lump in my throat gets bigger.

My dad grabs my head. “It’ll go quick, son. We’ll be right here for waiting for you. Just be strong. You can do this.”

“Ok. I’m sorry, dad.” I rock my head on his shoulder as he holds my nape.

“I know, son. I know.” He holds his head to mine.

I pull back and try to hold back my emotions. It worked until it was Paisleys turn. She grabs my cheeks and kisses me while she cries on my lips.

“I’m so sorry.” I mumble.

“I’m sorry, too.” She squeaks. “I’ll see you everyday. I promise.”

I nod as she holds my forehead to hers. “I don’t want to go. I can’t.” I hitch.

I chuckle a bit and she wipes my eyes.

Wes leans in. “I'll put in the appeals. See if I can’t knock this down a bit more, but we do have to go now.”

I stand straight. “I’ll see you later?”

“Better believe it.” My dad holds Paisley to his side.

I look over my family for the last time for a long time. Lucy grabs my arm and pulls me from the table and I’m escorted through the council room to take the long walk to prison unit.

Once I’m administered the Lycan suppression serum, I’m fitted with a collar and put into my maximum security cell to begin the first night of 1095 nights staring at these four walls.
