Becoming the Alpha (Amethyst Pack BK2)

“Shh, you’ll wake them up!” I hear a loud whisper waking me in the night as I feel the bed dip beside me.

“They are deep sleepers” Daniel chuckles as I begin to hear him and Carla kiss.

“I swear to god if you two are getting it on beside me I will not be happy” I growl as I open my eyes to find Carla straddling Daniel on the bed.

“Uh…” She murmurs, looking at me with a blush.

“It is…6 am and you two are doing THIS in bed next to me! Are you serious?!” I shout.

“Shut the fuck up!” David growls from the ground as he snuggles closer to Liv.

“Sorry Serena,” Carla mutters but doesn’t move.

“You’re ridiculous,” I laugh as I jump out of bed, wincing a little as I climb over David and Liv on the ground.

“I couldn’t help it, Serena! You know what the mate bond is like!” Daniel calls out after me.

“You’re washing the sheets! Good luck David while your twin fucks his mate beside you!” I shout as I hear David grumble as he rubs his eyes.

“What the fuck Daniel?!” He cries out as I giggle shaking my head before heading downstairs.

I walk outside to get a bit of fresh air as the grounds are quiet, most people still in their beds asleep as I sit on the porch steps.

“Little early for you to be up isn’t it?” Vance sits next to me with a soft smile.

“I was woken abruptly by Daniel and Carla getting it on next to me…” I groan.

“You’re joking…” He grimaces and shakes his head.

“I wish I was,” I laugh as I look up at the sky, it looked gorgeous as the colours were beginning to change as the sun rose in the sky as I took a deep and calming breath.

“Serena, I will be going back to The Pit today, I need to keep running the café. I can’t stay here forever,” Vance says.

“But it’s not safe!” I exclaim.

“I can’t afford not to Serena, we all still have livelihoods and the café is mine. I will be going back with Tony and Pauline, she will place a spell on the café to keep us safe and we will come by the packhouse when we can. We also have our bond Serena, you are my alpha don’t forget” Vance places a hand on mine and squeezes.

“If anything happens to you guys…” I gulp.

“We will be fine, stop worrying.” He hugs me into his side.

“I’m scared Vance, so fucking scared.” I murmur.

“I know, but you are turning into one of the best alpha’s I have ever seen, you love your pack with every inch of your heart, you want the best for everyone and you would risk your life to save another. We’re all scared, we have a huge battle ahead and it’s not going to be easy, there will be casualties which is why we need to work together as one. Train the packs, bring in the hunters, find other allies and take Yusif and the others down. We will do this Serena, I believe in you. But for now you have to stay calm, be yourself. Take it day by day.” Vance says as I nod.

“Thank you, Vance. Just promise me you’ll be careful,”

“Of course I will, plus I have hunter training too Serena don’t forget. Plus, everyone seems to be afraid of what Pauline can do. She’s an amazing woman with her magic,” Vance smiles.

“It’s a shame she will turn and lose her powers,” I nod.

“She might not lose them. No magic wielder has ever turned before, we don’t know if she will lose them or not,” Vance says.

“I guess we just have to wait and see,” I sigh, my head resting on his shoulder.

“Indeed. I’m glad you came into my café Serena, the day we first met I knew you were going to turn my life around. You’re family to us and we all love you,” He squeezes me tightly as I smile.

“You helped me more than you could ever know Vance, I love all of you too,” I smile as we both just sit there quietly for a while before the packs begin to slowly wake up.

“Good morning! How are we all this morning?” Lucien saunters out the house with a grin on his face.

“Peachy, why are you so happy?” I raise a brow in question.

“We are alive! You survived an alpha challenge and it’s a beautiful morning!” He smiles.

“Weirdo,” I roll my eyes and giggle as he shoves me playfully.

“Race me,” He smirks as I grin, shifting quickly before he laughs and shifts taking off quickly as I pounce after him, racing him.

“Come on slowpoke!” He laughs.

“I’m still healing!” I growl as I push myself harder, wincing a little, but pushing through the pain as my wolf was helping me heal quicker.

“Never going to catch me!” he looks back behind him as his eyes go wide as I am catching up to him.

“Want a bet,” I laugh as I run beside him, nudging him as we run through the trees.

“Alpha,” Two pack members nod as we whizz past their patrol.

“Good morning!” I call back as I laugh, chasing Lucien.

He begins to slow down as I have to skid to a halt as he shifts, leaning against a tree.

“You’re getting quicker,” He pants.

“You’re getting old,” I smirk as I bounce about playfully as my wolf as he shoves me away with a smile.

“I can’t believe you’re nearly twenty, I remember the day you were born, just a small little girl, big rosy cheeks and the most amazing eyes, the pack fell in love with you from the moment they heard about you and yet your father kept you from them all. We all understood, of course, but they were jealous they couldn’t see the alpha’s child as a wolf. Your father should never have kept you from your wolf,” Lucien sighs as I shift and sit on a log next to him.

“We can’t dwell on the past Lucien, the path we took must be the one we needed or the guardian would have steered us away from it,” I answer.

“Have you seen the guardian since your first encounter?” Lucien asks.

“No and to be honest I hope I never do again, I want to control my own destiny,” I answer as Lucien nods.

“When did you get so grown up?” He chuckles.

“Since the day I was told I had to be Lucy Braven and not Serena Baldo, I kind of had to grow up quickly,” I say as he frowns.

“I should never have left you at that house,” he growls.

“It’s ok Lucien,” I take his hand in mine.

“No it’s not, I should have just stayed by your side and then you wouldn’t have suffered like you did.” He begins to pace.

“Lucien! You did what you thought was best! You thought I would be safe there and you trusted those people. You did what you could. Elise just took over and messed everything up! I don’t blame you, Lucien!” I grab his hand and pull him to face me.

“I love you cupcake,” He says before hugging me tightly. Something felt off, like he was hiding something…

“Lucien…What’s going on?” I frown.

“Nothing, absolutely nothing.” He tries to hide it behind a smile.

“LUCIEN,” I growl.

“Don’t so this Serena, I can’t go against your father’s orders,” He groans pacing.

“What order?” I snap.

“To not tell you his plan,” He sighs.

“Then don’t tell me, tell…The tree,” I say as he raises a brow.

“Sneaky…I can’t though Serena…” he sighs.

“NOW Lucien!” I growl, my wolf was beginning to feel the rage inside.

“Ok! He, Vance, Tony, Pauline and Calvin are going to find Craig…I was ordered to distract you while they left…” He says as my eyes widen.

“WHAT?!” I growl as I shift and bolt towards the house as I notice the cars beginning to drive off as I pushed myself harder but I don’t get to them in time as they race through the border. I howl out in anger.

“Stay put Serena!” My Dad calls through the link.

“Have to go back to the café my ass!” I link angrily to Vance as I can feel him wince from my anger.

“We knew you would never let us go if we told you,” Vance says back.

“Be careful, please come home to me,” I whimper through the link to both him and my Dad.

“Train the packs with your Mother and Lucien. We’ll be back as soon as we find Craig.” Dad says.

“You better,” I growl as I feel him shut off the link between us as I begin to pace at the border looking into the distance.

“Serena…Cupcake…” Lucien whimpers as his wolf flat on his stomach beside where I am pacing.

“I…I…I need to go shower and get some food,” I sigh as I bound towards the house.

“Cupcake! I’m sorry!” Lucien calls out.

“What happens if they don’t have enough wolves, what if they get hurt?! We should have all gone together!” I growl as I shift and storm into the house.

“Morning…Woah…You don’t look happy.” Oliver’s smile turns into a frown as he grabs my arm.

“Let go, Oliver,” I growl.

“Alpha, tell me what’s wrong.” He says, so I do and he looks at me before sighing.

“All we can do is train and be ready for if we are needed Serena,” He sighs.

“Then that’s what we’ll do. Prepare the pack for training,” I say as he nods and takes off outside as I head upstairs.

“Morning sweetheart,” Mum says biting her lip looking at me cautiously.

“Don’t even start…” I hold up and finger as she sighs and nods letting me go straight to my room.

“Serena! Where did you go? Did you hear the cars? Who was it?” Carla was sitting on the bed, still entwined in Daniels arms.

“Dad, Vance, Tony, Pauline and Calvin have gone to try and get Craig back…They used Lucien to distract me so I didn’t stop them from leaving,” I sigh.

“They know where Craig is?” Daniel asks.

“Apparently,” I shrug as I begin to grab a bunch of clothes.

“We should have been given the chance to go get him! He’s our best friend!” Daniel growls.

“Don’t you think I know that!” I snap back.

“Let’s not fight each other guys,” Carla sighs.

“Sorry Serena,” Daniel murmurs.

“It’s ok, I get it. I’m pissed too. But there is nothing we can do, we train, we get ready for a fight. Tomorrow we will turn Carla and she will need to train quickly. We have lots to focus on and not enough time to do it. This battle is looming over our heads and I’m scared.” I sigh.

“I’ll work hard I swear,” Carla smiles.

“I have no doubt in that Carla, now get out, I need to get washed up and then get some food before training starts,” I point to the door as Carla chuckles.

“If you’re training is there any point in showering beforehand?” She smirks.

“I…Well…Good point…I’m just going to have a quick wash and get changed. So, if you don’t mind. Oh and Carla!” I call as they begin to walk out.

“Yeah?”

“You’ll be in training today too, someone can teach you hand to hand combat, call it payback for sleeping with your mate right next to me,” I smirk as she rolls her eyes.

“Call it payback” She mimics playfully as I throw a cushion at her head as they walk off chuckling.

Looking into the bathroom mirror I lifted my top to check my wound as I notice it’s fully closed up now, but still a little tender as my wolf was helping heal it quickly. Washing quickly before getting changed into a set of leggings, crop top and a loose t-shirt, I headed back downstairs to the smell of food.

“Dad, can you pass me some eggs please?” I hear Carla call out. Jeremy must be here…

“Good morning Serena,” Jeremy grins from the table as I wave hello before a plate is thrust into my hands, filled with plenty of bacon and sausages.

“Plate of food as an apology?” Lucien grins at me.

“It’s a start,” I roll my eyes as I sit up at the table.

“Serena” Someone calls out.

“Yeah?” I answer.

“Serena…No one spoke…” Lucien frowns at me.

“Serena…” The voice calls again as I watch that no one said a thing.

“Who is this?” I call back in my mind.

“Help… Serena…Help me…”

“Who?!” I push again.

“Serena, what’s going on?” Jeremy asks.

“Someone is calling out to me, it’s not someone from the packs though. They want me to help…I don’t understand how this is possible…” I murmur.

“Craig…What if it’s Craig?!” Carla cries out as my eyes widen.

“Craig?!” I call out, but no one spoke again.

“Anything?” Daniel asks as I frown and shake my head.

“Until we know exactly what is going on we need to keep going with the training today, concentrate on bettering the pack. We will deal with this if it happens again,” Lucien says as I nod slowly.

“Can you reach him?” I link to Daniel as he shakes his head.

“Out loud for the rest of the table who can’t hear your thoughts please,” Carla grumbles at us.

“I was asking if he could link to Craig,” I roll my eyes at her.

“What does the link feel like?” Carla asks.

“It’s…kind of like you’re tethered together, kind of like the cup and string you’d play with as a kid to talk. But you can feel every emotion, you can feel the persons pain in their voice,” I said.

“Does it get overwhelming, having so many people tethered to you?” She asks.

“It can if you don’t learn to block the general talks in people’s heads,” Lucien says.

“So, you could hear anyone right now if you wanted?” She smirks.

“Alpha’s can hear every single thing in their packs minds if they wish. Normal wolves can only hear if they really concentrate on one individual but the other would feel their intrusion” Lucien answers.

“So you can hear anything Serena?” she smirks.

“Yes…Why?”

“Do it, please,” She giggles.

“Can’t you just wait until you’re a wolf. How is me doing it giving you any enjoyment?” I raise a brow.

“Please, just do it on…Oliver…” She laughs as I roll my eyes as I open the link to Oliver searching for his current thoughts.

“Stupid horny wolf, stop thinking about the alpha like that! She’s fucking gorgeous I get it but she’s not ours! God, I’m getting hard just thinking of her” He growls in his brain as I back out quickly, a blush in my cheeks.

“Oh my god! Was he thinking dirty things?!” She laughs noticing my blush.

“Was who thinking dirty things?” Oliver chooses this moment to walk into the kitchen as I almost spit out my drink as Carla looks at me with a huge grin.

“What was he thinking?” Daniel said with amusement through our link.

“The gist is, he’s horny, he thinks I’m gorgeous and is getting hard thinking of me…How the hell do I deal with that?” I raise a brow.

“We were just talking about the wolf links, explaining how alpha’s can hear everything if they wanted too,” Carla says with a shrug as I notice Oliver glance at me.

“Well, you don’t have a mate any longer, you could deal with it any way you wanted,” Daniel wiggles his eyebrows at me as I spit out my drink with laughter.

“I hate you sometimes Daniel,” I laugh.

“Was there something you needed Oliver?” Lucien smirks at me before turning his attention to Oliver.

“Yes, the packs are ready when you guys are to start their training,” Oliver smiles.

“Great, have them warm-up and I’ll be outside with the others shortly,” Lucien nods.

“Alpha?” Oliver looks to me for approval.

“You don’t have to ask for my approval Oliver, Lucien will be running the training, not me, I will be training with you all,” I say.

“You are my alpha Serena, I will always ask check with you,” He murmurs as I hear Daniel snigger.

“Something funny Daniel?” Oliver asks.

“Oh, no, nothing,” He shakes his head turning to Carla trying to hide his laugh but I can see his shoulders moving up and down.

“I’m going to kill you,” I growl in the link between us as he bursts into a fit of laughter, so much so he leaves the room, Carla following quickly after him.

“What on earth was that about?” Oliver frowns.

“Ignore him, he’s delirious,” I roll my eyes.

“Well…I will meet you on the field alpha,” He smiles and walks off quickly.

“What the hell is up with Daniel?” Lucien asks.

“Don’t ask,” I say as I get up from the table and put my plate in the dishwasher before walking out the kitchen slowly.

“Oliver wants to bone the alpha!” Daniel laughs from the lounge as I walk in swiftly before smacking him over the head.

“You’re such a child,” I smirk at him.

“You and I both know he hasn’t got a chance, poor guys going to be using his hand thinking of you every night,” Daniel laughs.

“GROSS! Daniel!” I smack him again as Carla giggles behind him.

“At least you’re wanted, you could have the pick of the pack,” She smirks.

“No thanks, no get your arses outside for training,” I smirk as Daniel groans.

“But I just ate!” He groans.

“You’re a werewolf…We don’t get indigestion, our body works it off too quickly…Get a grip,” I laugh as he groans and takes Carla’s hand and walks out the house.

This was going to be a long day.
