Beast Of The Moon

Chapter EIGHT

North’s P.O.V

She retracted her hand as if I burned her then held her palm like a child and stared at me with wide eyes, “H-How did you do that?” she asked I sat up completely confused by the whole situation, “I didn’t do anything” I said trying to catch my breath as if I just ran a marathon.

In truth, I was over this whole ‘I’m special snowflake’ thing, I hated that I was looked at as strange in this world with my odd behavior and talents.

“That feeling, I’ve never-” she stopped herself, looking down at her hand, looked down at mine and saw golden sparks dancing in my hand, like some sort of magic.

Then I felt a hand grab mine once again, Constance was holding my hand tightly as if her life depends on it. I felt her nails dig into my skin, then the sparks happened again. “Can you feel that?” she asked in fear. I was tempted to yank my hand away out of fear.

I nodded looking down at our hands, then she let go and spoke, “I don’t understand, what is this?” her eyes met mine and all I saw was confusion and fear. Was she afraid of me?

I sat up and said, “Do you think this has anything to do with me waking up early?” she sat in front of me and swallowed hard, then said, “Well, a tradition Lycan is supposed to have advanced strength and speed along with heightened senses but I’ve never seen something like this, so maybe”. I looked down and signed.

I looked at her in fear, “The last Lycan with strongest abilities that I remember was dying man that was over 300 years old”. She looked down and went on, “Back then, Lycan’s used to be created by witches for protection and battles, since they were so powerful”. My chest raced up and down, now I understood why Lycan’s were made, they were the ultimate killing machines.

“But since the werewolf kind has become allies with most of the covens despite feeling bitter towards each other, anyway they don’t really force people to become wolves, in fact, you’re the first case anyone has heard about in years”. That was a shock, I guess it’s not common for a werewolf to attack a human.

“Why are they bitter towards each other?” she looked confused and tilted her head slightly, “You don’t know the story?” I shook my head and she sighed, “I’ll let Connor or Miah tell you that one” she clearly didn’t want to talk about it, so I dropped it and she continued.

“But I don’t know if you have any special abilities or why I fell sparks when we touch, I’m sorry” She paused holding her hand in fear “Have you felt it before?” I asked. She looked down in sadness, “No, this, is unlike any magic I’ve ever come across” I looked over at the window, and here I was thinking this life would be easy, even fun, boy was I wrong.

“But, try not to think about it too much, I promise I will help you figure all this out after you rest for a while, maybe that might help”, I looked at her and said, “So I’m a Lycan just with magic?” she smiled and shook her head, “I don’t know what you are yet, but as I said, don’t worry about” she smiled warmly.

I smiled and nodded, I guess I shouldn’t have judged Constance so soon, she was just trying to help me. “But why are you here?” I asked her while she re-prepared her spell, “What do you mean?” I laid back down and said, “I mean, you’re a witch in a wolf filled house, it’s just a little unnatural” She rolled her eyes playfully and said, “With this war going on, the witches were divided into a werewolf and vampire territories, I was transported here when I was young”.

I frowned and asked, “What war?” she turned to me and said leaning against the table, “The Werewolf and Vampire war”, I raised my eyebrows and she laughed and said, “After I do my spell and you sleep for a bit, I’ll have Miah tell you about the war history”. I wasn’t too fond of broken promises but I didn’t really have a choice.

I simply nodded and closed my eyes, I felt a cold substance lace over my forehead carefully, “Relax North” I heard Constance’s calm voice say. I did as I was told and took a deep breath, then soon my eyes fell heavy and before I knew it, I was asleep.

Constance’s P.O.V

I stared down at North as his eyes closed, I ran over the feeling of when I touched his hand in my mind carefully, it was strange, yet calming at the same time, I felt safe when he touched me. Yes before this boy was very intimidating, I guess that’s why I was so rude to him. I saw his nearly black hair fall over his eyes as his chest went up and down.

I liked the way he knew how to joke in serious even sad situations, I admired that, I was surprised when Miah talked to him like she was his mother. The Miah I knew before was scary and never really had an attachment to anyone, until North that is.

It’s hard to believe a single boy could make such a difference in a person, in fact, he was having an impact on us all, other than basically winning the war for us, yes I’m on the werewolf side. My father and mother were friends with them, but unfortunately, they were taken to the Vampires and I haven’t seen them in years.

I was tempted to stay and wait for North to wake up but I needed to tell them that the spell worked and about the sparks I felt, they can’t be natural, can they? I studied North’s face, trying to catch every detail and see if anything seems out of order.

I didn’t see anything at all, he was just asleep, I nodded to myself and began to walk downstairs. I saw Miah standing at the end of the staircase pacing, once again I smiled at how protective she’s become over North.

“How is he?” she questioned with a worried tone that I wasn’t used to at all. “The spell worked, he’s asleep” she sighed in relief, “But-” her stance shifted right back to worry, “He seems to be very powerful, I don’t understand how or why yet but he’s very different”.

Miah’s eyes widened, I guess the thought of something happening to North scared her, she’s really like his mom isn’t she? Soon Miah’s face relaxed, “It’s nothing to worry about, he’s strong, we just need to train him” I nodded, then she was about to walk into the kitchen when I said.

“Wait, Miah?” she turned to me and folded her arms over her chest, “When North and I touched, we both felt these-sparks, do you know what that means?” a smile grew wide on her face and she laughed out,

“What?” I questioned her, she shook her head and said,

“You’ll both find out soon enough”.

Then she left me alone, questioning everything.
