Chapter 37: He was out of the closet.

Raina Williams.
I had not seen Angelo for a while now, neither had the twins. I understood that he had other things to do like the wedding and
taking care of his pregnant fianc??e. What hurt the most is that he would be doing all these things for her that he never did for
me. He deprived me off that joy. He deprived me of that happiness but he will give her that and all his attention. I had to go with
my parents for all or rather most of my appointments, my swollen feet- he will be massaging Yasmine whenever she requests of
it. I made it without him, i don't need him. I can take care of my kids and nothing else will matter. The way Ashton was so hurt a
week back, it broke my heart. He promised to take him out the very next day with Ashley but later canceled, he said he was
caught up with something.
"Raina ?" Derrick brought me back to daylight. Dressed in his black armani sleek suit and a white shirt, he seemed to look like
the Derrick we all know from the magazines.
"Derrick, I'm so sorry.." I blinked quite a bit. "Please take a seat ?" I offered.
"You can't be this distracted when we have an upcoming day in court." He made a friendly remark or rather a friendly reminder.
"No no no certainly not." I pryed.
"Well then I hope you are ready, after our meeting for the last couple of days you should be." He said in an arrogant tone.
"If you have told me everything that I need to know then I guess I can work with that." I prised on his conscience to open up. I
knew he had told me everything that I needed to know, i just wanted to be sure so that I don't look like an absolute fool in court.
"I have paid for Eric Winters funeral, infact I have even paid his family an amount onto that, to make them stable for a life time."
Derrick muttered proudly.
"Yes, I'm well aware but you have to understand you took away their twenty-nine year old son. Money isn't going to do it. They
might have taken your offer but they still want you in jail." I explained and he only seemed to be mad listening to what I had to
say.
"Those bastards." He muttered.
"You have to control your temper, Remember we don't want the judge thinking you can't."
"I know." He sighed in defeat. "I know.."
"You have to show remorse." I added.
"Yes, show remorse and not get angry by anything stupid they say on that stand. Got it !" He recoiled quietly.
"I have the results on Eric's remains and yes he was high and very much drunk." I said taking out the yellow envelope from my
top cabinet drawer and handing it to him from across my mahogany desk.
"Is it enough ?" He questioned and I knew exactly what he meant.
"No its not enough but that is why I have a witness. His name is Fabio Carazo-" i throw him another file. "Bartender at Lavida
night club, he can testify because he was there the night Eric was at the club. He had a couple of shots and complained a bit
about how his miserable his life was and how he wanted to commit suicide and that's as much as we need to get your name
cleaned up." I gave a triumph smile and he returned a smirk. "We could just say he deliberately walked into a moving car."
"I'm impressed Raina." Derrick stood up towering over my height. "But I will be more impressed after I'm officially set free."
"Damn right, you can count on it." I stifled a laugh. Suddenly his phone started ringing, then I gave him a nod to head on and
answer while I get busy.
"Cherry, honey I'm with my lawyer right now." He forced a smile.
"Yes, oh certainly." He said volubly.
"I will be right there." He said ending the call.
"Raina thanks alot but I have to be on my way. That was Cherry my soon to be fianc??e if I make it out of jail. I will certainly
propose." He grimaced.
"Oh, marriage again." I murmured without thinking, this was going to be Derrick's sixth wife in his entire life. Grayson's mother
had been the second wife it didn't even last for atleast five years.
"Don't be like that Raina, Cherry is different. You know Cherry Macaalay the Filipino actress, you must know her." He gave a
lopsided smile and I didn't want to rain on his parade. I definitely knew her if he was talking about the Cherry Macaalay who had
a graceful body and warm brown eyes but most of all was way younger than Derrick Collins. She had often been on the front
cover for vogue and other online magazines. She was definitely one for the spotlight.
"I know her." I forced a smile.
"She is wonderful Raina." He chuckled to himself. "Grayson and yourself should meet her."
"Well Grayson-" i was interrupted by the door opening. What happened to my personal assistant ?
"Grayson did what ?" Gray walked in dressed in a sleek designer suit. He looked handsome, he took graceful steps towards his
father and I.
"I was just saying you and Raina here should meet Cherry."
"Father, i have told you time and again. I do not wish to meet your flings." Grayson rolled his eyes.
"Now now dear son, this might be your future step mother; better start respecting her now." Derrick said frantically.
"I only have one mother and she is dead." Grayson said glaring at his father who seemed taken back. "You would know that
obviously if you had attended the funeral or maybe if you had actually stuck around in my life." Gray said sarcastically. I felt
horribly bad, was this exactly what would happen if I ever passed away. Angelo would continue his life with his new flings and my
kids forgotten and taken to a boarding school while he lived a perfect life. I wouldn't allow that, he had already abandoned them
while they were alive infact the minute he knew they existed, he wanted them gone.
"Grayson Collins, i am still your father so don't you dare speak to like that." Derrick said frankly frustrated by Grayson's attitude
while on the other hand Gray was fuming with anger, his eyes crimson. This was indeed a touchy subject that I did not want to
intervene in.
"Well father I hope you end up in prison where you belong and i will gladly throw you and your Filipino girl friend an extravaganza
wedding. We will see if she even wants you by then because it's likely she won't and you know what else I'm gay." Grayson
smirked at his father's shocked fret expression.
"What did you say ?" Derrick asked slowly.
"I'm gay and you would be certainly aware of it, if you didn't ship me off to a boarding school in Australia miles and miles away
and alone after my mother's death." He said in haughty but rather fret tone.
"I'm leaving speak to me when you are in your right mind." Derrick flounced out of my office without another word. He seemed
shocked, he seemed taken aback, he seemed hurt beyond anything, he seemed to have regrets that had no solutions, it seemed
his past was following him.
"Atleast now you can now wear dolce and Gabbana without him questioning why?" I mumbled and Gray gave me a toothy smile
before pulling me in for a hug. My bestfriend has just went through his worst fear and it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be.
He was out of the closet, it must have been suffocating.
