Chapter 6 — The Dragons
Saga's POV:
I sat down beside Rebecca, watching eagerly as my son slept in her arms. Tears were streaming down her face. I didn't know what they were really for.
It could be the fact that her sister just died, or that the long-awaited baby was born or that minutes ago she had wanted to stab him for killing her sister.
I still couldn't help but wonder how this angel had sucked the life out of his own mother, but no one could find out that he had killed a fellow dragon at birth. That would only make things worse. My eyes watered a bit.
Queen Adrianna was dead.
My wife. My Queen.
It was true we had been betrothed at a very young age, as we both were halflings of golden blood and was thought to have more potential to create a full-blooded golden dragon.
I was not in love with her, but I did feel some sadness over the fact that she was gone. She was a kind partner, a true woman who deserved her crown. A friend above all else and a wise companion. Her journey had ended so abruptly it was unbelievable.
The kingdom would mourn, 2 months we will weep in the ashes of nature for her safe passage back to Erania, our Patriot god. Queen of gods.
I would get through it, no matter how hard it felt, as would the kingdom. Erania was so kind to let me keep the love of my life who sat right before me holding the light of my dark world. In that moment I couldn't help but feel complete. Yes, I was betrothed to Adrianna as a young prince, but my heart longed for my Rebecca, our hearts long for each other. It was tradition and duty than of love, the union between Queen Adrianna and me.
Nevertheless, I remained faithful to my Queen all the days she was alive. She had known of my love for her sister, but her kindness was that that exceeded all else.
Maybe it was her blessing, as Rebecca is barren and Adrianna was fertile soon bearing my Heir, the heir of realms, the god of all species alike.
It was three years ago when the vision befell me in a dream, revealing that I was to father the dragon prince. The golden dragon prince.
I never really believed the legends, but when it was revealed to me my doubts were quietly erased.
I am the last remaining survivor of the royal family.
My people were slowly dwindling after the battle. Thousands were killed in the Megalos Machi, ten thousand years ago in my great grandfather's time.
After the battle, the few injured that survived hid in the forest. To protect the Dragon species from extinction my grandfather cast a spell on the forest to insure no non dragon could enter the dark forest and no dragon could get out. That was the last thing he did before he died.
At night, the spell covered the whole forest so as to widen our hunting ground. But soon it would be time to rise once again after being reduced to nothingness.
Once a proud race now hiding in the shadows.
Since the Magálos Màchi our numbers had grown, but not as large as before. Just large enough though to cause havoc in the kingdoms but after we lost our loved ones by the thousands, my people thrived off the thought of revenge. Yes, they would wait for the golden prince and take back their lands and slaughter everyone to extinction.
My eyes narrowed as I looked back at the baby still asleep and being cradled in Rebecca's arms.
I felt his power as the strong winds he mastered blew around me through the cracks of this once beautiful palace my royal ancestors used to use as a place of leisure.
The main palace was in some other land, legend says it floated in the sky, a wondrous sight. I had never seen it before though, but if it was half as magnificent as this one then it was a sight!
I growled through my teeth thinking of what I had missed in my lifetime because of the rest of the supernatural beings.
It pained me to think how long my people have suffered and now we finally had the power to end their races.
My son would shatter them and smite each one of them down just as they did to our people.
They all would pay. I would make sure of it.
That is if my son was really a golden dragon. I had no doubt.
Though there were some dragons who questioned if he was really a golden dragon, I knew it would show once his transformation began.
I rubbed his little face as he slept, I was content with him. He was beautiful, a sight to behold with those big beautiful blue eyes that reminded me of Rebecca and slick golden hair, he was the definition of a god.
Suddenly a gust of wind blew by and as I looked up I saw four men standing before me. They were all identical, quadruplets to be specific. I growled at them at the invasion of privacy, "Hydras! "I commanded standing up, running a hand through my long dark locks.
"Your majesty," they replied bowing all at the same time. They had a tendency of doing things at the same time because of their connection.
Together they became one.
We dragons did not all look the same. In fact, we were all very different from one another. There were many types and kinds of dragons. Hydra for example was my right-hand man or rather men.
Born quadruplets, their brains had a deep connection to one another. They were some kind of telepaths, communicating to each other using their minds even if they were a thousand miles away from each other.
Their shared Dragon was a means of communication.

They were good for spying as well as very quick. They had the speed of a Vampire, one moment here, the next gone.
Unfortunately, they were also among the last of its species, because Hydras were very rare type of dragons. They were only two hydras left, the other young hydra's, also known as the Tydron's were still toddlers and though they had the same ability, obviously because of their age they were somewhat useless for now and very mischievous.
Hydras became hydra when their dragons manifested combining their four bodies into one big dragon with four heads.
You cut one head off and two would grow back. Hydras could not turn to a dragon if one was missing, they had to be united. Louis, Reye, Pete, and Gavin were their names, but no one could really identify which one was, we'll accept me, my wisdom was far too much to be cheated. Either way, we just called them hydras.
They liked it as well.. It unified them.
We had about a hundred different species of dragons but before the Magàlos machi, there were thousands. Now those species were smothered out of existence.
Each dragon fell into one of these categories, despite being crossbreeds:
1. Fire Dragons:
There were many sizes of this dragon, but you could tell if you were a fire dragon because of how far you could spit fire ranging from hot air to magma, a hydra was considered a species of fire dragon. These were very useful in battle. 2. Liche dragons:
we had many of these thousands of years ago but now we only have one. He was born eight months ago, he is weak, but his power strengthens him. The power to wake the dead, very useful tactic in battle. His name was Edwin, son to my General. A potential guardian for our future King.
3. Cobalt Dragons:
Like fire dragons, cobalt dragons were quite many. They spat blue flames instead of red, but they couldn't breathe a lot of it at a far distance.
However, they could also do raw magic and had one of the toughest dragon skins. They were also very greedy though and had quick tempers. 4. Revered Dragons:
Much like the liche, these dragons were very much extinct, well I guess kind of.
I myself am half a revered dragon and half golden.
I do not have wings like other dragons but however can fly just as well. My great grandmother, Erania rest her soul, was the very last pure revered dragon. Very wise dragons we are.
We control the air element and the earth element. Yes I do admit can be cruel and harsh at times but luckily my Golden half keeps me safe. Though I do have a temper as well.
The last kind were the:
5. Golden dragons:
The most powerful kind of dragons. They could defeat a great army by itself, had great magic around it.
These dragon we're so powerful that if they weren't a dragon it could have easily been called a god.
It breathed spirit fire, freezes things with its ice breath. Is a telepathy, can talk to the dead, has toxic breath, lava spit and could actually spit out gold. Magic was its birth right as it was whispered magic itself came from the scale of one of these glorious beings.
It had immense power but none of it were as beautiful and majestic as the creature themselves and its large Golden Wings embedded with solid gold.
There weren't any pure golden dragons left, only us half breeds, we were strong yes, but not strong enough, plus our golden side never showed physically only emotionally. But now with a pure golden dragon on our side, we would soon be unstoppable.
As the hydras stood before me there gaze wondered to the baby, a recognizable emotion in their eyes that resembled tears.
"His majesty has finally arrived," they all said at the same time gasping as Rebecca stood up with the child in her arms.
They saw the baby resting on her arms before them as she smiled down sweetly at his tired little face.
The hydras knelt down before him one by one with tears in their eyes.
He was here.
The one they awaited.
I watched as they gripped their chests, hand over heart.
"We pledge our allegiance to you our king for as long as we live," they said lowering their head before the sleeping baby, "May you restore our lands and our people. His Majesty, Prince..." they paused, trailing off. "Prince Azian." I replied.
Azian means power.
Rebecca and the hydras looked at me smiling.
"A fitting name for a befitting prince!" they exclaimed I nodded at my little golden Dragon.
