Azian Prince of Dragons

Chapter 21 — Ena and Maria

Abigail's POV

Anna and I exchanged looks as the woman before us gave us a big smile.

"And just in time! A day later and we would be living here no more," she explained.

"I uh..." I began stuttering. For a great witch I was really bad at speeches or meeting new people.

"You must be Abigail!" She said pulling me into a hug, "oh you look just like Emma, prettier, but the features are still there," she said holding me at arm's length.

I smiled widely nodding. I loved being compared to my aunt, she was a beautiful woman in her time.

"Emma. She is..?" She trailed off, a sad expression in her eyes.

I nodded slowly, "yes, five years ago," I replied suddenly finding interest on the floor.

The woman nodded, "I knew something had happened when I felt the presence of a Great Witch with a different aura from Emma's," she sighed crossing her chest. A small gesture we do to make peace with the dead.

"And who is this?" She asked smiling widely as Anna outstretched her hand.

The woman laughed pulling her in for a hug instead.

"We usually hug here," she explained when she finally let go.

Anna smiled," I'm Anna," she introduced.

The lady nodded taking a glimpse of Anna's bump, "agh, a little witch on the way aye?" She asked grinning wildly.

Anna smiled back shyly rubbing her bump. A habit she had gotten accustomed to.

The woman looked back up at me, staring straight through me.

"What are they?" She asked slowly.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, I turned around to see what she was looking at but only saw the yellow cab parked on the side of the street. "What?" I asked

She breathed out painfully slowly not straying from my gaze.

"The two boys you have with you," she explained.

I was surprised she even noticed Azian and Edwin. She hadn't even spared them a glance since we arrived.

"This is Azian and that is Edwin," I introduced.

She tried to look at them but winced quickly averting her gaze back to me.

"What are they? They are not werewolves or leeches or winged men, I cannot read there aura either, the oldest one has too many colors and the youngest..." She paused, "Has all of them, so I ask again. What are they?" "They are uh..." I trailed off wondering if I could trust her enough, I mean I didn't even know her name.

"What's your name?" I suddenly asked.

She blinked twice and then smiled, "agh, I'm so sorry, how rude of me, Ena, Ena Rods worth, member of the witch council in the Neut realm," she introduced.

I nodded knowing I could trust her.

"May we come in first?" I asked

She shook her head laughing probably embarrassed,

"Sorry, it been quite a while since we've had proper guest, especially ones as important as you. I would offer you a seat but as you can see we don't have chairs," she replied as she showed us her home.

She was right, there was not a single piece of furniture in the house.

"Ena!" Someone yelled from the top of the stairs, "Ena!"

"Yes Maria...I'm down here!" Ena yelled back.

"We should go, clearly your intuitions were wrong because no one has co-" a woman said coming down the stairs.

The woman paused staring down at us.

She was a light skinned chocolate brown with bouncy curls all the way to her shoulders.

She had that perfect naturally glowing skin and that natural body with beautiful curves. She looked twenty-five to twenty-eight.

"I can't believe they're actually here," the woman said taking another step down the stairs.

Ena smiled, "I told you to never doubt my magic."

Maria raised her hands up in mock surrender, "lesson learned," she said finally standing before us.

"Abigail, Anna, Edwin and Azian, this is my younger sister Maria, "she began, before turning to Maria, "Maria meet Abigail the mother witch, her friends Anna, Edwin and... Azian," Ena introduced as Maria hugged each one of us warmly. She suddenly paused in front of Azian and Edwin, "what are they?" She repeated the same question Ena asked.

I glanced at Anna who nodded slightly.

"I, uh, they, they are dragons," I explained.

Ena's eyes bulged and Maria s mouth hang open.

"Dragons?" They both said at the same time.

I nodded nervously, they probably knew of the prophecy as well if indeed my Aunt had visited them, which I'm sure she did, judging from her current expression.

I just hope they would have a positive reaction to all if this.

Ena swallowed, before nodding slowly, she glanced at Maria who also glanced back at her.

"So Emma had been right all those years ago, the dragons are alive," Maria concluded.

Ena paced around the room slowly," the little one, he is the prophecy child, isn't he?" She asked solemnly.

"The golden dragon?! No way!" Maria exclaimed her eyes trailing to Azian and got locked in his gaze.

She shook her head slowly her lips trembling as a shaky hand covered them, "oh no," she whispered.

I swallowed hard, they definitely were not taking it well.

"He is a golden dragon, the golden dragon," I confirmed.

Ena's head snapped towards my direction as those words left my mouth.

"I knew it, his aura is too strong. I can't see it at all, he is very, very powerful, too powerful, I sensed it the very minute he stepped into our world," she shook her head slowly pacing around the empty room. "How...why? The golden dragon? You do know his destiny right?" Maria questioned folding her arms.

Azian tugged at my dress, probably not liking this conversation one bit.

I lifted him up, "I do. I do know his destiny, but Aunt Emma's last dying wish was that I protect him with my life, and I shall till my last dying breath, "I explained as Azian buried his little head in my shoulder.

I looked up at Maria," I had the same questions as you, I don't know why my aunt said that I should. The only thing the said to me was 'reading and understanding are two different things Abigail,' "I replied as I remembered my aunt's words. "What?" Maria asked confused as well.

Ena paused and then suddenly burst out laughing.

We all turned to face her with confused expressions.

"Well, your Aunt, my Emma, was one wise lady. I can't believe...she was... oh goodness..." she said putting her hands on her hips.

She smiled wildly. She had obviously discovered something.

"Your aunt was right, we must protect this boy with our lives," she said turning to Maria.

"What? But the prophecy says " Maria began "The prophecy says, Azian has the power to extinct any race or all of them, but just as it says, he only has the power to do so," she explained.

"I don't follow," Anna put in shaking her head.

"It means he has a...choice" I replied rubbing Azian's back.

Everything began to click in my brain.

"Yes, he has the power but only he can decide what he wants to do with it, " Ena went on.

Maria had that 'I understand what you're getting at' expression on her face as things began to click.

"We are staring at both our destroyer and our Savior," Ena continued looking at Azian in awe.

"Damn, as if being a witch wasn't messed up by itself," Maria replied causing all witches around her to lightly chuckle.

Ena looked at Edwin, "I'm guessing this is Azian's guardian?" She asked.

"Finally, someone gets it right!" Edwin retorted.

The rest of us chuckled.

"Yes, yes he is," I confirmed "How did you know?" Anna asked curiously, she didn't even know Edwin was Azian's Guardian.

"I've read books on the dragons, some the former great witch left on her last visit, it talks a great deal about dragons, how every golden dragon had their own guardian as is common for those of royal standing" she explained Her eyes trailed to me, "and other things about dragons, some suspicions and legends, that sort of thing,"

I nodded, "do you still have the books my aunt left for you?" I asked eyeing the empty house.

Ena chuckled, "of course we do! Anything that comes from the mother witch is kept sacredly and protected. Plus, it is kind of the only thing connecting us to our real home in the sup realm, "she replied.

I nodded still staring at the empty house.

"I see you're wondering why we don't have furniture aye?" Maria asked chuckling at my confused face.

Both Anna and I nodded.

"We were moving to another city, we just came to lock up the house when Ena said she felt the presence of the great witch here in LA, she concluded you were on your way here since Emma would always stop by here first," Maria explained. HONK!

Something rang through the air.

"What is that?" Anna asked panicking, as she rubbed her belly protectively.

Maria went over to the window, "looks like a cab,"

"Mr. Grumpy!" I screeched.

I totally forgot about him.

"Mr. Grumpy?" Ena echoed.

I laughed nervously, "he is the driver that brought us here, we didn't have any money in this currency so we begged him to bring us here hoping maybe you could pay?" I asked.

Ena chuckled, "sure, but maybe he could give us a ride to the subway as well, we must head to the other witches at our new home, will they be happy to see you!" She said closing a window. "Witches?" Anna echoed.

"Yes dear, there a lots of witches in the human realm since nine thousand years ago, witches have been spread all over the world, especially right here in America, but they usually all come together once a year in New Orleans, celebrating the new year after the annual council meetings," Ena explained.

"So, who heads the witch council?" I asked as we all headed towards the front door.

Maria laughed, "there is no king or Queen if that's what you mean, it's a group of five witches, Ena is the oldest of the five though, and being the favorite of the mother witch during her time, I guess it's safe to say that she heads it,"

"Not anymore, now that you're here, you are the queen of the witches so speaking, you are the great mother witch, the most powerful witch alive and great ancestor to mother witch Alessia, and if you are staying like I believe you will see just how special you really are Abigail,"

I nodded slowly as all this sunk in.

I mean I've lead before. I am the protector of Riota. Though I have not been fully declared the official mother witch because if that idiot we call king, my people still look up to me.

However, I still couldn't help but feel nervous given the fact that this was a whole new realm with different sets of witches.

But I would be fine. I had Ena, Maria, and Anna by my side, I could handle to 'rule' this realm.

We were now heading to the cab.

I could see Mr. Grumpy leaning on his car with a bored expression on his face even in the darkness, thanks to the streetlights.

"One last thing Ena," I said before we all reached within hearing diameter of Mr. Grumpy.

"No one should know of Azian and Edwin's real identity,"

"Of course, it would be best for his protection. Then we must do a masking spell on him, just so his aura is covered, or other beings will sense his power,"

Ena explained "Other beings?" I echoed.

Maria chuckled, "one thing at a time your highness, let's not keep Mr. Grumpy waiting," she said pointing at him.

I almost laughed at the scowl on his chubby face.
