Chapter Unknown 22
KASSIDY
__________
Where did I go wrong? I went from celebrating my birthday, to dying in an accident, to coming back to life with some cool fire, to finding out my crush was my mate.
To top it all off he is the complete opposite of me, he has water and ice, I have fire and lava.
Plus he's a Demon-Werewolf hybrid and can destroy everyone in his path.
So where am I in my life right now?
I'm currently standing behind everyone in the street covered in blood due to being stabbed, while also being threatened by my Alpha who had always had it out for me.
And, Wren has his hand wrapped around Brayden's neck trying to strangle her for hurting me, my friends and twin brother are also here.
Oh yeah, almost forgot.
My brother can inhabit my powers whenever they are forced into dormancy.
My life has been flipped upside down.
Now, where did we leave off?
Oh yeah, right at the part where I'm being threatened.
"Your mate dies." Alpha Alex smirked at Wren while his hand was still clamped down into the Alpha's daughter's neck tightly.
Wren hesitated, but let go of her neck, dropping a gasping Brayden in the ground.
"If you touch my Mate, you die..." Wren growled.
His eyes were getting darker and darker and the air shifted in demeanor.
Something is wrong, again.
Wren dropped to his knees and began to pant, and growl all at the same time. His head was to the ground as his body shook. The Alpha had a wary look on his face and pulled out his phone. He dialed a number and put the phone to his ear.
"We have a problem...." he waited for a response.
I looked over to a heaving Kash and nodded my head in the Alpha's direction. He smirked at me and his eyes glazed over, and so did the Beta's.
Why was he contacting him for?
Oh, the Beta never wanted to hurt any of us in the first place. The day of my punishment he didn't try and hurt us, instead he warned Kash. I wonder if he would still be willing to help us out.
I turned my attention back the Alpha's phone call and listened in.
"He's growing darker than you said he will... What do you mean leave?! We can't just threaten them then leave them without punishment. We had a deal, Stylo. I keep the girl in check for you, while the boy goes to my daughter to be re-mated, are you going back on your promise?" What in the world is he up to now?
He and Stylo made a deal, to re-mate Wren and Brayden?
For what?
What could he gain by working with Stylo?
Wren's deep growl reverberated through the ground and my body. Dark vibes rolling off of his body.
I looked at Ben and his blazing red eyes held worry for his younger brother in them. I didn't know that they had another transition to their shifts, but I was wrong.
"Wren, please calm down." I slowly walked forward to get closer to Wren.
He was heaving now, his skin had heat waves rolling from it, his voice was deeper and deeper dropping so many octaves it sounded ground shattering. I took another step and he tilted his head at the sound of gravel crunching under my foot.
"Stay away, Mate. I don't want to hurt you again." His voice was so broken and cracked, it didn't sound like my Wren.
I took another step and held out my hand. His head snapped up so fast I thought he was gonna break his neck.
"I said stay away!" His eyes met mine and I broke down.
There was no white in his eyes, it was completely inky black. His irises were a crimson bloody red color with streaks of the inky blackness swirling within them. I gasped and a lone tear left my eye, he was completely different. My Wren was almost gone and things just couldn't get any worse from here.
But I was wrong.
Wren kept heaving and heaving like he couldn't get enough air into his lungs. Ben rushed over to us and Kash pulled me away from Wren.
"Wait! No, let me help him, let me help!" I screeched at the top of my lungs.
Tears streaked my face, sobs wracked through my chest while my Wren was in pain. He held his chest and continued to heave.
"Kassidy, we can't help with this. He is dangerous to everyone here, including you." I kept scratching against his hold.
"I know what he did to your arm." Kash sighed into my hair. I stopped my struggles and shook my head.
"He didn't mean to do it, Kash." I reasoned with my twin. He shook his head and sighed again.
"That's what make it worse, Kassi." Wren's growls became heavier as we got farther away from him.
"Come on, dad got all of the civilians to the shelter, the girls are already on their way there." I couldn't just leave him behind like this.
"I have to do something, Kash. He doesn't even know what's happening to him, I just need to help him through it." Kash dragged me away some more until we were down a couple blocks away.
Even this far away, I could see how much Wren was struggling.
His eyes were still black around the iris and bloody red in his irises. The Alpha looked worried but pleased at the same time. He was still on the phone with Stylo, telling him everything that's happening to Wren.
Brayden stood up from the ground still holding onto her injured neck, and stepped towards Wren.
"Wren, baby, what's wrong?" And I was starting to fucking lose it, again.
"Leave. Him. Alone!" My voice got slightly deeper. I pulled away from Kash's hold on me and moved forward.
"Wait, no!" Kash ran up behind me and tried to grasp at my hands.
My body began to hum with the familiar life of my powers. Flames danced across my skin, claws grew out of my nails, canines extended from my gums and heat and fire wrapped around my body like a blanket of sorts. Kash pulled away and sighed.
"Damnit, Kassi." He cursed. I move away from him and walked on a personal mission towards Brayden.
"You think that you can actually have him, well guess again bitch." Brayden smirked at me and her claws and canines came out.
Her eyes turned red out of her being an Alpha. But nothing like how Wren and Ben's eyes change. But this time, she held a more powerful dominance to her.
I wonder why she didn't use it earlier?
"What the hell do you want from us?" I shout, I was getting angrier within the second.
I need some answers.
And I need them now.
Brayden tilted her head to the side and smirked again, her gaze went down to Wren and my throat closed and my heart throbbed.
She can't be serious.
"I will get Wren as a reward...but you. I don't know what Stylo wants to do with you, but I know it's not going be any good. Maybe he'll put you in the deepest depths of the ocean, or bury you under cement. Hm, who knows?" She gave a deviously innocent smile to me.
Right now I wanted to punch her in the face, but I need to think rationally about the situation.
How is Stylo supposed to get to me?
Wren continued to heave and his dark energy grew more and more and Brayden took it upon herself to try and touch him again.
All rational thoughts aside, I blurred forward and punched her.
Her body went soaring into the air and she went into a nearby apartment window. Glass shattered and I rushed across the street and jumped in between buildings until I got to her floor.
I heard Kash calling after me, but I didn't care, all I wanted was to see this bitch burn.
Quite literally.
"Oh, you dirty, little whore. Just wait until I get my hands on you." Brayden groaned while she sat up.
Glass shards falling off of her shirt and out of her hair.
I stepped through the window and walked into the apartment and realized, it was empty. Nothing was here.
Huh.
Well good for us, right?
As she stood up, I stomped up to her and kicked her in the chest, crashing her into the wall. Dry wall crumbling onto the dark wooden floors. She laughed at spit out some blood on the floor, then smirked.
"Is that all you got? You pathetic. Little. Pup." She rasped out.
And she's seriously pissing me off.
"Why?" Is all I ask. I need her to keep talking.
While I kick her ass of course.
She sits up and groans. I walk up to her and kick her in the stomach.
"Why do you hate me so much?" I kick her again.
She haunches over and spits up more blood. I gripped her chin in my hand forcefully and make her look in to my burning gaze.
"Tell me why the fuck you and your family despises mine and beat me for just existing. For what, to make a point? That you're pretty, of Alpha blood? What is it?" I punch her in the jaw, a sickening crack rang into my ears.
I'm going to kill her.
I stand over her body. She thinks I'm just so pathetic to her.
I'm not an Alpha, I'm not an average wolf anymore, I'm not anything close to human either.
But yet I'm the pathetic one?
"I've been through hell and back in the course of eighteen years of my life, survived the beatings, the isolation, the depression, the suicidal thoughts in my head from the pain of it all. But I'm strong." I grab the collar of her shirt and pick her up into the air.
"Tell me, what was the motive? Why is all this happening now, and why are you working for Stylo? Do you not know what he did to Wren. Since you supposedly care and love him." Venom dripped with each word I said.
I honestly didn't care anymore.
I'm tired of everyone thinking that I'm dainty and fragile. That I can't hold my own, but I can.
Brayden tilted her head and smiles down at me.
"What he did to Wren was a sacrifice. But in the end, it benefits he and Wren." She shrugged like it was no big deal.
I slammed her into the wall by her neck.
"I'm not in the mood for this shit, especially not right now."
How does Wren transforming into a Demon benefit him?
He will kill everyone here.
"He was physically in pain you dumbass. If you actually paid attention to what the fuck was happening you would have noticed that he was holding his chest for dear life during the next part of his transition." The arrogant smirk on her face immediately wiped from her as soon as the words left my lips.
Oh so now she's concerned about his health?
"What do mean next part of his transition? There's only supposed to be one transition of his abilities. Nothing further..." She trailed off.
A pained expression slapped itself onto her face.
What the hell is going on here?
"What? He kept changing after his first phase. His eyes had no white, it was black while his irises were a darker red. Then what the hell was happening to my mate!?" I felt a pang of utter sadness nip at my heart.
He was in pain and he wasn't truly supposed to be.
Brayden looked at me in disbelief. Tears rimmed her eyes and she shook her head at my statement.
"N-no that can't be right! He said that there was only one transition. He could die if there was anything more to it. Either he dies, or we all die..." She shook her head again.
She grabbed my hands and pushed me off of her. I fell onto my butt and looked up at her.
She ran her hands through her unruly hair and paced around the room with a limp.
"I have to ask him. Because Wren's full power and ability are locked away."
Brayden scrunched her nose at an idea popped in her head.
"You." She pointed at me.
"What do mean me, what did I do?" I am so confused right now.
I stood up and wiped myself down. I looked at my bare feet and seen lot of cuts and dirt on them.
I need a bath.
I hear Wren's growls and his heaving. They sounded so hard to make, like he was sick. He kinda sounded like a dying whale.
"It's so simple really. It was always you, Kassidy. You trigger things in his head. You unlock everything messy in his head, if you continue to be around him, you are gonna be at fault. Not Stylo, or anyone else." She pointed a broken finger at me.
No.
I started shaking my head now.
"No. I will not go anywhere without him by my side. I need him. That's how we work. I get mad, he calms me. When he's angry, I calm him. That's how it's supposed to be." I clench my fists in frustration.
We aren't getting to the point here!
"Kassidy, whether you like it or not. You will be his downfall, and when he finally crumbles," she leaned close to my ear.
"I'll be the one to pick up the pieces."
I can't stand her voice anymore.
It seemed like slow motion, I attacked her. My right hand clasped tightly around her throat. My feet pushing hard off the floor, while running towards the already broken window.
With Brayden in front of me, I break the window more so, pushing our bodies out and flying down to the ground.
"Oh my God, Kassidy!" Kash's roaring voice met my air filled ears as more wind pressed us closer to the ground.
While still in the air, I punched her in the face with my free hand. I made sure I had my flames on full blast this time, even though I can't fully control them yet.
With my fist cocked back, I pummeled her face with my blazing fist, while the other hand was squeezing the life out of her throat. I felt a rush pumping through my veins at seeing her bloodied face, missing teeth, burnt clothing.
She looked disastrous.
And I was the one who caused it.
In the heat of the moment, I didn't realize that we were inches away from the ground. I pulled her broken body close to my livid with anger one and pounded into the ground. The explosion sent a ball of heated smoke into the heap of graveled rocks with our two bodies.
I coughed at all the smoke and gravely dust that floated through the air around us. I glanced at Brayden who's withered and bruised body was right next to mine.
She looked like shit.
Good.
Brayden groaned and moaned in pain while attempting to sit up. But my mind wasn't occupied by thoughts of killing her again.
It was on Wren.
I stood up and brushed my clothing off. I heard voices calling out our names, getting closer to the large crater in the ground now.
"Where is she?" A deep monotonous voice filled my ears.
Wren was done shifting?
"Mate? Are you okay!" He called out.
I coughed some more and waved the dust away.
"Yeah, I'm fine. But she isn't." I called out.
In a split second, Wren blurred down the sloped crater and rushed to me. He grabbed me up into his arms and just held me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, while one of his arms was around my waist and the other around my back.
"Don't do that to me again, okay?" Wren's voice went back to his normal Demon voice.
Deep and rasped into my ear.
I snuggled closer into his embrace, wanting to stay there forever. But there were more pressing matters ahead.
Pulling away, I placed my hands on his naked chest and looked into his eyes. The whites of his eyes were in a glazed greyish color, his iris went back to blazing red.
Thank Goddess.
"I need some answers, Wren." He nodded his head in agreement. He looked passed me with furrowed brows.
I turned around and followed his gaze. Brayden wasn't there anymore. Only a small piece of paper.
"What is it?" Wren asked from behind me, glaring at the spot where she was supposed to be.
"I don't know." I answered back.
I slowly walked towards the piece of paper and squat down to pick it up. When I did, I let out a horrified gasp.
"Mate, what is it?" Wren came over to me and wrapped his arms around me.
I was shaking like a leaf at the message on the paper.
Wren grabbed it and growled into my ear.
"I will kill him. Do you understand, Mate? I will kill him, even if it's the last thing I do." I looked back down at the paper and cried again.
Why would he do that?
Why the bunny head?
I already watched Wren destroy a bunny today. What's up with killing bunnies?
Wren kissed the top of my head and spoke.
"Let's get you home, okay? We'll ask your parents if they know anything." I nodded my head into his chest and he picked me up and carried me in his arms out the crater.
Kash was pacing angrily and muttering incoherent sentences to himself while Ben was trying to calm him down.
As Wren made it out of the crater, everyone snapped their gazes to us.
"Oh my God, Kassi! Never do that again, do you even comprehend the fact that you gave me a damn heart attack?" Kash went on and on about his poor little heart.
It lightened my mood a bit.
But those words and that bunny head still have a fresh place in my mind.
"We found something in the pit." Wren ground out, still furious about the message.
Kash looked at me and gave a sad smile. He looked at Wren with a more serious expression.
"What was it?" Kash asked. Wren opened his fist with the paper and passed it to Kash.
When he read it his eyes flashed with my Revolutionary colors. He was furious too. Kash passed it onto Ben and he looked the same.
Great.
Now we have three psychopaths with extreme powers who are ready to kill.
What a great day to be me.
Kash looked at me again.
"Let's get out of here. Brayden and the Alpha have already left when we're distracted by the fall. I'll mindlink everyone and tell them all to meet at the house. I think Anais could help with her witchy powers in this one." The two brothers nodded in silent agreement and we went off to my house.
__________
The walk home was silent. Everyone was stuck in their own thoughts. Most likely thinking of ways to kill the Alpha, his daughter and the man they work for.
Stylo.
Once we reached the gravel of my driveway, I smelled the delicious aroma of lasagna and garlic breadsticks wafting into my nostrils.
Good thing Mom cooked.
Kash grabbed a spare key from under a bush and unlocked the door. We were greeted by concerned faces and big plates of food.
Dad looked at me and gave a small smile.
"You kids get cleaned up and come down for dinner. You need to eat," Dad looked at Mom who was setting plates all around the dinner table.
"And we need to talk."
We all nodded and went up the stairs.
Wren and I used the upstairs bathroom while Kash and Ben went downstairs.
"Should we tell them everything?" I asked Wren as pulled off my sweater and pants. He turned on the shower and looked back to me.
"Yeah, they may have answers we need. And don't hold back anything, they should now the problems we have been dealing with." Wren answered.
"Get cleaned up, I'll wait for you in the room. Do you want me get you some shorts and a sweater?" Wren asked and I nod as he left and closed the door.
I stood up from the counter and went into the tub. I cleaned every inch of my body twice. Scrubbing blood, dust, dirt and grime off my body.
I washed and rinsed my hair and condition it too.
This was well deserved after the day I've had.
Wrapping a fluffy towel around my chest, I walked out the bathroom and into my room.
Wren was standing by my window, staring into the yard in viewing distance.
"I'll be quick, I put some clothes on the bed for you." He turned around and kissed my forehead and took his shower.
I got dressed in my black shorts and oversized gray sweater. My sloppy bun on top of my head was still damp from washing my hair. I went in his bag and pulled out some clean boxers and basketball shorts and t-shirt for him.
Minutes later he walks in with a towel around his waist, dropping from the shower. But right now, I was too tired to think about how sexy he looked.
He grabbed his clothes and got dressed in the bathroom. When he was done we traveled downstairs.
"Have a seat sweetie. The food's warm and ready for ya." Mom smiled and gave Wren and I hugs.
"Thanks Mom." I walked over to the table and sat at the left of my Dad, since he ate at the head of the table.
Wren sat next to me. The other side, Mom sat down to the right of Dad while Kash and Ben sat next to each other.
The girls didn't come over this time.
I could understand why.
They all had families to return home to, but Anais is coming soon. Jordan and Kassandra will be here tomorrow.
Dad cleared his throat and spoke.
"Kids, I want you to know that we are here for you all. I understand that things have been far from normal lately and I'll help as much as I possibly can." Mom reached over and held his hand.
"Most importantly, are all of you okay?" Mom asked looking at all of us individually.
I looked at Wren.
His red blazing eyes were distant, the anger still present in them. I hold his hand and he looked down at me and closed his eyes. He pulled my hand close to him and kissed my knuckles.
"Physically, I don't know. Mentally, I don't know about that either. We all had a rough day with that attack." Kash spoke for all of us.
"Tell them, Mate." He whispered.
I nodded and turned to a confused Dad.I looked up at Dad and began to tell him all about what's been happeningto us recently since he already knows about the Revolutionary stuff.
"The Alpha still has it out for me, and he's working with this dark spirit person. Brayden is trying to be re-mated to Wren. And we have a message from the spirit person." When I was done, Wren pulled out the piece of paper we found in the crater.
He passed it over to Dad with fury burning in his eyes again. Kash and Ben looked the same.
"What's this?" Dad looked confused as he examined the bloody paper.
When he flipped it over his eyes traced over each and every word. His blue-grey eyes turning into a dark infuriated glare.
"Who sent this to you, baby?" Dad's voice was no longer sweet and warm. It was cold and venomous.
I never seen him so mad before.
"His name is Stylo." Upon hearing that name, Dad's whole demeanor went even darker than it already was.
He stood abruptly and his chair slid across the floor.
"Call Diane." I nodded and got my phone and dialed for Diane.
Ring...
'Hello, Kassidy?'
"Yeah it's me, Dad wanted to call you. It's important, Ms. Diane." I tell her.
'Honey, I'm on my way.'
And with that she hung up. I came back into the room and looked at Dad who was heaving.
Mom looked confused as ever and she looked to me.
"What does it say, sweetheart?" She put a warm hand on my shoulder.
"It said: 'I will take you, hang you and torture you until you submit to my will and become my whore. You will be mine to take, and for me to break. The prophecy will not be filled, unless you want to be killed...
XO'." I said the filthy words out loud.
A tear fell from my eyes and the guts lost their shit.
Swearing every word in the book, cursing Stylo's name. Dad was furious to the extend of breaking the wall with his fist and repeated it over and over. Mom whispered into his ears and calmed him down a bit even though she was shaking with pure hatred.
Ben, Wren, and Kash paced around the living room yelling out ways to torture him.
"I should eat him!" Wren bellowed out.
"I will rip him to shreds." Ben growled.
"Do we have acid, Dad?" Kash heaved out.
"No one is going to eat, shred or acid anyone to death, alright?" My dad cleared his throat.
"We'll torture him to death." The boy's all howled in their thirst for blood. Mom shook her head and rubbed her temples.
"They're lucky I love them." She mumbled. I chuckled quietly to myself.
All of the ruckus was silenced by the doorbell ringing. Mom opened the door to see a startled Diane and Anais.
Once we all settled down at the dinner table, Dad spoke.
"He's back."
