Awakening The Unknown

Chapter Unknown 08

KASSIDY

_________

I stood as still as I possibly could. I didn’t want to set him off. He sniffed the air and growled lowly under his breath again.

"Mine.” His voice was distorted and much more scary sounding than his usual deep voice. My throat hitched as the words left his mouth.

Mine?

Holy shit.

I think we’re mates. . .

I didn’t have any time to prepare for it, my body lifted from the ground at lightning speed. I was thrown into a hard chest. The smell of rain and pine overtook all of my senses. Shivers racked through my body and my body relaxed into his. His nose was buried into the crook my neck. Tingles of heat spread over my body, sinking into every nook and cranny.

“Wren?” I called into his chest. His chest rumbled with another growl, I guess he doesn’t want me to talk.

His arms wrapped tightly around my waist and my skin heated more when his fingers would slightly graze my exposed skin.

His nose trailed up the length of my neck until he got to my jawline. He placed a small kiss under my jaw and pulled away a bit.

Just enough to look into my eyes.

A small dimple gracing his cheek, pearly whites spread widely in his mouth at my blushing state.

So beautiful.

His eyes were an entirely different color than mine.

They swirled with a light sea green blueish green than was surrounded by his original obsidian green.

Since my arms were awkwardly on top of his I slowly wrapped them around his back, and gave him a shy smiled.

My cheeks flushed as he gave a knowing smirk and stared straight into my eyes. It was so intense I had to look away, I knew if I looked any longer I’d be putty in his big hands.

He pulled and raised one of his hands and gently lifted my face with his fingers and made me look into his eyes again.

“Look at me, Kassidy.” His voice was soft but had authority leaking from each word.

I looked into those raging green eyes again and felt myself slipping again.

Get it together Grayson.

You can’t let him tell you what to do!

But that voice though.

“Wren, are you like me, did you die too?” Slightly taken back by his stiffened body and gave a small nod. He pulled away, but still kept the space between us at a minimum.

His raging eyes swirling in an indecipherable emotion.

I reached for his face, trying to rub the pad of my thumb across his cheek, to comfort him, but stopped myself. Before my hand fell to my side again, he caught it in his own and placed it on his cheek.

Intense sparks ran through my body, heat spreading across my body, a cooling sensation thrumming through his too.

I pulled my hand back at the intensity of the skin contact.

Maybe he really is my mate. . .

Wren’s aura went to a beautiful golden color with hues of turquoise and fuchsia, mixing together perfectly.

My fire started to poke through my pores in my arms and hands, indicating I was gonna burn something up soon.

He seemed to take notice my skin around those limbs change fiery orange and red, he then reached out his hands and carefully grasped my hands in his.

A cooling sea green moisture pooling the pores in his arms, eyes changing to his galaxy colored abysses.

The sea green liquid seeping from his body in small comforting waves reached my skin.

Stopping the most dangerous flames known to all, but now my arms were drenched in the graceful waves animating from his touch.

I stared up at him in awe.

Words from Solanis whispered into my mind;

Your light, my sweet child. You’ve finally found him, now, it’s time you both learn to complement each other’s abilities. Your light stops the firey fierceness of your soul, your darkness heats the scorning cold of his coldest ocean depths. Love him, control him as he is to you. I’m always here my sweet child.′

His hold eased on my hands, still looking into my eyes.

“You know what this means, right?” Asking me in all seriousness.

I nod slowly, still shaken by her message, and him hearing it too.

We stood there for a while before I got the courage to speak to him.

“What does this mean for us now? We can’t just ignore the fact that we’re now mates and be all cool and normal with each other?” I whispered, but if he’s a Revolutionary like me, he heard it as loud as a scream.

“We can go back to school together, sort all this shit out. I need to make it clear to everyone in that damn place that we’re together. Especially to your Alpha’s bitch of a daughter. That girl thinks that everyone who looks at her wants to bang her.” He muttered and sighed.

“Sounds familiar to me.” I grumble out, dropping my gaze back to my fiddling thumbs.

“Hey,” Wren says pulling my face up to meet his gaze. “I may have had my share, but you won’t have to worry about any of that anymore, okay?” He grabbed my hands in his once more.

“Trust me, Kassidy, please.” His eyes pleading me.

Does he actually want be with me?

Probably not, he only sees me as another of his rare species.

‘Kassidy I actually want to be with you. And believe it or not, I respect the fact that we’re mated. If the goddess wants me to be paired with you, I will.’ Wren’s velvety voice filled my mind.

“We can mindlink each other?” I asked.

Well then.

Some conversation later. . .

“Wren?” I call.

“Mhm.” He replies.

“What are we?” I nervously ask. Picking at my nails for some sort of distraction.

He pauses for a second in deep thought as we walked the lonely early morning streets.

His eyes twinkling in mischief.

“We could be whatever you want us to be. Such as you being at my house every hour doing...extra curricular activities.” He smirked those perfect plump of his, his voice dropping down an octave in a suggestive tone.

My face turned beet red at his innuendoes.

He just laughed and walked ahead of me with long strides.

“Hey wait up, your like a damn Olympic speed walker.” I say out of frustration and breath.

Even with these new abilities, I’m still a fat ass at heart.

With one step, I blurred me way through the wind up to him.

“Can I ask you a question, Wren?”

He looked deep in thought and nodded his head. I took a deep breath.

“How, and when did you die?” I asked. He immediately tensed with sudden discomfort.

“I crashed my bike.” He answered with a distant pained glint in his eyes.

“When I got up, I had a hell of a lot of cuts and a broken arm. A piece of the rear view mirror was lodged in my upper abdomen...” I never seen him so distraught before.

I usually only seen him as an arrogant asshat, but I just hold him.

“It’s okay. I died in an accident too.” I told him. He stepped out of my arms and gave me a questioning look.

“You died in an accident too?” He raised and incredulous brow. I nodded and sighed before spilling the beans to him.

“I tried so hard to take the piece of glass out, but it was like something was pushing it down even further. I knew something bad was gonna happen, just didn’t know it was gonna happen to me.” He laughed humorlessly while shaking his head.

I stopped walking when I seen a street side bench. I grabbed his hand in mine, and sat down. I looked into his eyes and spoke to him.

“Wren, I was stabbed there too, but I was in a car with my best friends. They had a cut here and there, but I got the worst of it. Before we crashed a shadowy figure was on the road. He came out of the blue, then he disappeared. When we pulled off again, there was something we crashed into, flipping the car over. I flew forward in my seat and got a huge shard of glass stuck in me. Anais was using her magic and Jordan was pulling it out, but something pushed the shard in. Ultimately, killing me.” I finished.

I looked to Wren to see him with scrunched up brows.

He looked like a gaping fish, then he looked like he was jealous.

“How is that you dying sounded cooler than when I died?” He gave me an accusatory look and pointed his finger at me.

Wren, is one dumb fuck.
