Chapter Storm 13
KASSIDY
__________
Six months after Kassidy's death. . .
The plan was set in motion. Stylo, Noah and I sat still on the basement floor. We haven't spoken in a moment as we let it all sink in. We had a way to be free.
"How do we start?" Noah asked. Stylo looked over to him and sighed, then his eyes looked over to me.
"Kassidy has to stop suppressing her power. And as soon as she does she needs to open up a link with Anais. Not Wren." He said sternly. My eyes widened a bit.
"Wait." He blinked at me.
"Why can't I open my link with Wren? I understand that I need to talk to Anais but I haven't talked to Wren for so long. And you were the one who said I had to start this plan with talking to him." I pointed out.
My heart aches just thinking about him.
Stylo raised his shackled hands in defense and gave a dry throated chuckle.
"I know what I said, but you don't understand." I raised my brow, signaling him to continue. He rolled his eyes and sighed.
"You can't open your mind link with him, but, you can meet him in the Other Plain." My heart jumped with joy at hearing that I can see him again.
"Really?!" I jumped up to give Stylo a hug when the force field trapping him zapped me back again.
"Ow!" I rubbed my head and my sore butt from the crash.
"How is she supposed to travel to the Other Plain if she can't leave Purgatory?" Noah's skepticism made a point.
"You can't use your magic and Kassi here hasn't had a power up, so how is this gettin' done?" The death stick in his mouth bobbed with each word he spoke.
"First," Stylo looked to me and made a move to stand up but fell over. The heaviness of the chains anchored him to the dirty basement floor.
"Kassidy has to release all of her power like she did before she got sent here." Noah had a confused look on his face as he looked in my direction.
"All of your power? What other power could she possible have?" Noah's face scrunched up in more confusion at the new information.
Stylo looked at me with judge ridden look. His mouth was gaped open as he stared at me.
"You haven't even told him?" His eyes shown with slight anger and confusion towards me.
I shrugged my shoulders and threw my hands up in a defensive manner.
"I have a half-shift, as we all know. Then another shift that corresponds with the half-shift when I'm able to grow wings." Noah's mouth dropped open, his jaw went slack with newfangled knowledge.
"And then my full shift into my wolf. I never got to do a full shift due to me dying, but I seen Ben's shift and it was incredible." My eyes zoned out of the conversation and went back to that fateful day that I died.
Seeing the enormous wolf stomping ferociously through the Forrest was an awing sight. The way Ben's body radiated and crackled with the red lightning bolts of power flew through the air was insane. His eyes shown with vengeance and wrath as he stepped and crushed down on enemies was far beyond my imagination.
"Kassi-" A voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
My shook my head and rubbed my eyes and looked in front of me. Noah has my hands grasping my face and his hazel stared into my soul.
"You good?" He asked. I nodded blankly and shook him off.
"Can we continue with our plan plotting now." Stylo rolled his eyes and sighed.
"We don't have much time. He keeps taking more of my magic by the minute. We need you to unleash all the goddess like power you have and get the hell out of here. Because the second you get to the Other Plain, the closer you are to Wren and the others." Stylo stated.
I nodded and closed my eyes.
The power in my body was silent for a while, probably since I had kept it locked away until today. I called it forward from the mental binds I kept it in and felt the familiar hum.
"How long will this take, Sty?" Noah asked softly. I heard the shackles moving a bit and assumed he shrugged.
"Not long." He replied.
My body felt fuller with the fiery current rushing through my veins. My body hummed to life with each passing second as the flames became more immense in my body and began to leak out.
The wind in the basement began to wirl and swirl around me in a heated cyclone of power. My gums aches with the protruding canines that elongated from them. My claws extended and dropped with scorching lava droplets upon the floor, burning small sizzling holes through the solid concrete. My hair flowed up towards the sky in a blazing current with each flickering strand.
I had no idea when I discovered that my hair had set on fire, it just decide to happen when I had grew flaming charred wings.
Speaking of wings, the black tank top I had been wearing tore and shredded as the black flaming wings made their presence made. The fluttering appendages shivered and crackled with freedom, loving the fact that they were set loose to flap and soar.
I didn't know when my eyes had closed, but when they opened, the world seemed so much brighter. My eyes scanned and calculated each and every aspect of the basement where were being held. From the dust bunnies in the corners to the minuscule drops of sweat beading on my friends faces.
Noah's eyes were wide in astonishment at the transition while Stylo's eyes had just widened a bit and his mouth was gaping only a tiny bit before he noticed me looking at him and shut his mouth and huffed crossing his arms.
A giggle escaped my lips at the display of childish behavior and I stood up to stand on my own two feet. The feeling of my power surging through my body made me feel like myself again. I even felt Jana in the back of my head, gently nudging her snout against my cheek. A small smile graced my lips at my other half.
I missed her.
And now it was time for me to stop missing him and talk to him.
Stylo sat up straighter and looked at me with a small smile on his face. His eyes had seemed to glean with a new appreciation too.
"Are you ready?" He asked, I nodded.
"Good, now close your eyes and imagine seeing the one place in the Other Plain that is special to all of us. Then let your body drift there, and make sure to only think of the Other Plain." He added.
I gave him a questioning look. My brows furrowed together with confusion.
"What would happen if I think of somewhere else?" I asked carefully. His eyes grew wary and shook with unease.
"You might send yourself to a place you won't be able to escape. I don't know for sure, butt with the amount of power that you possess, you could send yourself anywhere and no one could find you." He says with uncertainty. I nodded my head and closed my eyes.
"Only think of him and the special place in the Other Plain. Good luck." The feeling of a hand clasping with mine made my eyes snap open.
A smirking Noah looked at me with a cigarette hanging from his lips.
"You didn't think that you could get rid of me that easily, did you?" I shook my head and smiled at him.
"Let's go." I nodded my head and watched him close his eyes and mine followed suit.
My power hummed an even louder tune and rushed to Noah and I's intertwined hands and the familiar felling of my body flickering and and pushing through space and time washed over my body.
Noah's hand squeezed my hand tighter in his as we pushed harder to get into the Other Plain.
The feeling of all the pushing and pulling made me nauseous. But I only had to live through it only a bit more until we made it there.
The universe pulled and tossed us like rag dolls, Noah's hand was clutching mine like his life depended on it.
Well, it kinda did.
Who knows what would happen if he let go.
We were pushed one more time before I got the sense that we were there. I could basically taste the Other Plain on my tongue seconds before we fell to the ground skipping across the land.
Dirt and rock made its way into my mouth and the feeling of the rocks scraping against my skin hurt like hell.
I used my claws to try and stop our bounding off of the ground just to fall back onto it. It seemed like Noah had the same idea since he extended his somewhat claws too and gripped onto a nearby low hanging tree branch to stop our skidding.
I gave a thankful nod and smile as he heaved heavily. I coughed out a couple rocks that decided to take shelter in my mouth and brushed dirt and dust from my clothes. My wings twitched with agitation since rocks were stuck between feather clusters.
Noah stood up and wiped himself off before offering me a hand. I took his hand gratefully and wiped the rest of the dust and filth off of me and flapped my wings real good, shaking the rocks from them.
"You okay, Sugar?" Noah asked. His eyes briefly looked me up and down fore injury before he checked himself over. I nodded before answering.
"Yeah, are you?" I asked him. He nodded and grunted softly before mumbling about his cigarettes being smashed in.
I gave a soft chuckled and scanned the area over where we entered the Other Plain. A large indentation, or crater, was made in the ground where we fell. Pieces of burned grass and soil was evidence of me being there. I looked away quickly and looked at our other surroundings.
The sound of rushing water currents let me know exactly where we were.
"You brought us to the Creek." Noah's eyes widened and scanned over our beloved place. He turned back to me, a look of determination settled onto his features.
"Get him and the others here, Sugar." He said. I nodded and gulped thickly.
Just the thought of having them all here, together again had my insides bubbling with excitement.
I closed my eyes and reached for my bond link.
I felt Jana standing behind me as I reached and touched the humming link line. My body buzzed with life at the feeling of the conversant sparks that flowed through my body once again. Jana gave of yip if happiness as we felt Wren and Riot through the link vine.
I felt like I was just over the moon with feeling, my eyes had moistened and a lump formed in the back of my throat at having been given the chance to see my mate again.
A chance at seeing my twin again.
A chance at seeing my friends again.
Then the vine exploded.
The sensation of his presence surrounded my entire being.
His smell.
His aura.
His everything was all around me.
The touch of a cooled hand touched my shoulder and sparks radiated and exploded over the depths of my soul. I was scared to turn around though.
What if it wasn't the person I wanted to see?
What if he is t the same as when I had left him?
"Darlin'." My body quivered at the sound of the deep, velvety voice.
Tears filled in my eyes and my tear ducts flooded with sentiment.
I turned around.
The smell of rain and pine filled my nostrils and sparks shook my entire being like an earthquake.
I looked him over.
His skin was bit more tan. But the muscle ripped through him and made him look incredible. The taut abdominal muscles were sculpted to beyond perfection.
His shoulders were broader and had more muscle mass on them.
His neck was straightened with pride as scared riddled down the columns of the cervical spine.
His jaw line was the same as it was when I was here. A bit of scruff was attached to it now, but more or less the same.
Then I skipped his nose and looked straight into his eyes.
The half crimson-half glowing sea green eyes looked dull and broken.
They no longer held the smile and mischief they used to, but held hate and determination in them.
His hair had dipped into his eyes. My hand reached up and pushed the dark chestnut strands away and held his face in my hands. His larger hands fell to my hips and pulled me closer to him.
"Wren."
