“You’re still here,” Julian said flatly, a slight edge to his voice.

“I’m still here,” I said lightly.

He cocked his head to the side. “Why?”

I shrugged. “Just keeping your sister company while you went to get her a drink.”

Julian’s shoulders dropped, relaxing just slightly. Not completely, though. Because I knew he caught me staring at her. And I knew he knew what I was thinking.

He didn’t have to worry about me, though. I understood Gemma Briggs was off-limits.

Maybe one day, he would give me the green light.

But until then, I’d behave around his angel of a sister.
