Ava- Ever Green Series Book Two

Chapter 6

Ava decided she could not sleep any more that night because of her father’s arrest. She decided to just get up and wait for the news. Her mother was too busy calling her older brother about the news. Although, why would the police arrest my father?

The police were combing the entire house. One cop comes over to Ava to ask questions.

“How did you know the victim?”Mr. Cop asked.

“He was my best friend. I did not know how he died until a couple of weeks. I only know he missing the end of May. Four months ago.” Ava said or could remember,” You guys kept the case quiet. You just suddenly think it’s my father who murdered Henry. Do you have evidence linking my father to his murder?”

Ava got up from walking away. She started to feel angry which would trigger the wolf. Speaking of her wolf, it was dead silent in her body like it existed for a second. Now, it is not even there at all. How weird to be shifting one moment to no wolf the next. The urge was there to shift but it couldn’t.

Ava went by her father’s office and her mother shouted, “MY HUSBAND HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT BOY WHO WAS MURDERED. I WILL CALL MY LAWYER. YOU THINK COMING INTO MY HOME AND SUDDENLY ARRESTING MY HUSBAND FOR MURDER. WHERE’S THE EVIDENCE HE DID IT?!”

Ava had to away from the office doorway. She made it outside and saw all the neighbors on the street watching or being nosy about what was happening at her house. The police made a circle with caution tape. The police had to be looking her something. Her father was still in the police waiting to be driven away. It was weird. Her mother got a hold of Ava’s hand. She squeezed it.

“Your father wouldn’t kill that friend of yours. He would have respected you more than that We do have things to tell you but now it’s the time. We need to prove your father innocent first.” Maria said to Ava. She dragged her daughter to her car to wait for further instructions from the police.

Meanwhile, Thomas was still asleep not realizing his father was being arrested for murder. He would wake up to a call that will change his perspective on things. Now, he would have to deal with his mother and younger sister. Deep down, he knew what his family did under wraps to supernatural creatures in town. I did know his father might have killed the younger werewolf but would not expect his father to be charged for it.

The next morning, Thomas woke up to his mother leaving messages on voice mail. He decided to listen,” Thomas. Please call me back. Your father has been arrested. Please just call me back.”

It was still early when Thomas called his mother, “Hi Mom”

“Thomas?” Maria questioned.

“I got the message. How are you and Ava doing with the news?” Thomas asked.

“Not great to be honest. Ava will be worried by knowing the truth about what our family did to her friend. I still need to tell her so many things. I just don’t want to tell her anything. I am scared, Thomas. Please come home.” Maria sounded vulnerable all of a sudden.

“Mom, you know I can’t just leave campus like this,” Thomas replied knowing his answer will not be received well.

Thomas hung up instead and will call back later. He was on campus and saw people whispering about him. People were staring at him. It was getting to a point where he just emailed the professors that he was sick. He doesn’t have a roommate and is glad at the given moment. He bet his sister going through the same hell he was. It doesn’t make any sense.

Back again to Ava. She was being the talk of the school. Serena walked right passed her in the hallway. The portent traveled so fast that it made Ava a pariah to everyone. She decided to cut school for the rest of the day. She had to find out what her parents are hiding from her. It would be her only chance.
