Ava- Ever Green Series Book Two

Chapter 14

Ava was still awake when everyone else had gone to bed. She lay there listening to the cabin and listening to her friends sleeping but could hear the enemy in the living room trying to get comfortable on the couch. Guessing that’s the downside of having a sensitive hearing. Not caring how she bite Lucius, he deserved it. Eventually, sleep came for Ava as the sun peekingpeekedh the curtain.

Serena was shuffling out of bed and said,” Couldn’t sleep?”

“No, my mind kept racing, and feels weird to be out in the middle of nowhere. If you hear everything, you feel the same way. Hopefully, Selma lets me sleep a bit before getting to leave,” Ava said sleepily and yawning.

Serena didn’t say anything else and left the room.

There was noise coming from the next room. Ava tried to get some shut-eye but it never came. We know the reason was Lucius being here was making it impossible for them.

Ava decided to grace everyone with her presence. She found the others in the kitchen eating.

“Look, who decided to grace us with her presence,” Lucius said sarcastically.

Ava ignored him and grabbed breakfast for herself. Then sat down to eat.

“Selma, what are the plans for the day considering we have Lucius with us?” Margo asked pointing at Lucius.

“We still need to get the information from him. Then we set him free. Because we won’t need him afterward.”

“Are you kidding me now?” Serena asked.

Ava didn’t expect her friend to be like this all of a sudden. The others looked back at her.

“Yes, I do. Serena. It’s for the best. The council will get wind that he was captured if we don’t return him.” Selma said and sighed.

“Well, that’s bull,” Serena pushes back her chair and then leaves the room.

Normally, it was Selma being the drama queen. Ava kept that to herself. Everyone returned to eating their breakfast. Everything was cleaned up by the time Serena came back to finish heShe she had been crying. We all know our situation was stressful for everyone and bound to be buttheads at some point. Selma gathered in the living room.

“Lucius, what does the council do il regarding everything that has happened?” Selma paced the living room

“They know that Ava killed Magnus Weller. They also know that Magnus killed Olga and Albert in cold blood in the living room. My father became a leader and wants to hold a trial for what was done. He sent the vampires on you guys for running.” Lucius replied.

“What about Magnus’s motive to kill Olga and Albert?” Selma questioned.

“He wanted them out of the way. He wanted Margo’s power considering how strong her magic will be once it matures. Killing them was the only option at the time until Ava killed him by protecting Margo.” Lucius revealed.

“I see. Why did you kill Cassandra?” Selma asked stopping in front of him.

“She was another piece that was in the way. She needed to be taken out for the others like me to get to Margo” Lucius replied.

“Why does this whole have to do with Margo?” Selma asked.

“She is the key to a lot of things. She holds a power that everyone wants. I also blame her for ruining everything. Her family blamed mine for a relative that was found murdered. My family had nothing to do with it. So, at every council meeting, her parents were constantly glaring at my father and me. Magnus Weller was the person who killed your distant cousin.” Lucius now looking at Margo, “I followed you when your magic started to manifest itself. You probably already knew that due to the headaches you probably received. I want her magic and I will get it one day in the end.”

Selma was stunned by all of that. She couldn’t believe Margo was the center of it all. For what, she didn’t know. She pushed Lucius towards the door and said, “Don’t come around us again. Please don’t tell anyone you found us.” Slamming the door soon after.

Ava didn’t know what to make about any of the information that was revealed. She could help but get the feeling that they will meet him again soon. It still confused her about Margo being the crescendo and a showdown at her house. It does cause some kind of alarm for everyone. Everyone looked towards Margo

“Why are you all looking at me like that?” Margo asked. She was silent throughout the whole question.

“We need to find out a way for you to be free from the council wanting your magic. We need to find a way to suppress the power we have. It might be the key to helping you keep safe.” Selma suggested. “It won’t be an easy task at hand. We would need to travel to Canada to get to the witch's library to find a spell to conceal you from their presence.”

Ava looked at Selma like she had gotten another head. She never knew there were secret places for supernatural societies to go besides the council. Thinking to herself then the council would think they disappeared for good.

“We need to pack. We’ll leave at night and take the back roads to the Canadian border. Then we head up from there?” Selma told the others, “I still think there’s a Witch Library in Bradford, Maine. We need to look there too before going to Canada.”

They spent the rest of the day packing up the house and packing up the van. They waited until nightfall to drive away from the cabin. Ava knew she would sleep on the road to Bradford which was a two-hour drive from their current location. Ava knew should be thrilled to be in the car again. They were doing this for Margo. She needed their support more than anything.
