Chapter 75

Chapter 75

Nikolay:

“What do you mean that you’re going back there, Nikolay? The woman deliberately keeps annoying you…”

“She is still my wife and the kids need to see me around them. I have to do what I have to do to keep them knowing that I am around them. If I am going to tell the judge that I want the kids, then I am going to have to be sure that even they want to be with me.” I said, stopping Ashley. There was a lot that I was going to have to do, and though I doubted that she cared, I knew that I did. I wasn’t going to allow Katerina to take the kids.

“Nikolay, you know that if she wants to take kids, against you, she will not be able to do so. You are known and you are a stronger influence; the judges are bound to listen to you.” She said, taking my hand in hers. She ran her fingers over mine, gently massaging them. “Please, Nikolay, don’t go away. I don’t want you to be by her side. She just keeps annoying me when you go.”

If

you are talking about what happened in front of the paparazzi, it is not going to happen…”

“I am talking about the pictures that you both constantly have posted, whether it is the dining table or you as a ‘family‘. I know that it is to influence, but…”

“It is going to be over soon, my love. But you are going to need to be patient. I know that you are growing tired of being patient and I understand that it hurts you, but I don’t want you to do something that you are going to regret. It is something that would affect the two of us, not only you.” I said, stopping her. I cupped her cheeks, forcing her eyes on mine. “You were patient for this long, what is going on now?”

“I didn’t have her taunting me every other minute. And I wasn’t as attached to you; you know that, Nikolay.” She said, making my eyes soften as I ran my finger over her jawline. I leaned in, connecting my lips with hers in a gentle kiss. She smiled into the kiss and wrapped her arms around my neck, wanting to deepen the kiss. I didn’t want her to press on the topic, nor did I want her getting me excited enough as not to leave.

I pulled away, and she frowned, glaring at me.

“Ashley, come on,” I whispered, shaking my head at her. “This is harder on me. Don’t make it more

difficult.”

“I am scared, and I keep growing scared whenever you head to her. I don’t want you to keep going to her place and I don’t want the two of you to be under one roof.” She said, shaking her head. “She is just playing a game to take my place in your heart, and I don’t want that. She is your past, and I don’t want her to keep coming back as a future.”

“She is not going to, Ash. YOU are my love, and you are both my present and my future. The

relationship between her and I has been over for years now, and you of all people should know it.” I said, wanting to calm her down. The last thing that I needed was for her to be arguing with me, and I didn’t want her to be on a verge and edge. “Promise me that you are going to be calm. I don’t want you arguing with anyone and I don’t want you to create an unnecessary fuss with others. Go to the gym go and get your nails done, and start preparing yourself. The two of us are going to be having our best nights together soon enough and you are going to be my bride. I doubt that you are going to want to be looking angry or upset when that happens.”

“But I can’t help it. Nikolay. When I know that you are going to be with her, when I know that she is getting her way with you. I can’t help but find myself growing angry and I can’t help but find myself wondering what would happen next. I fear you not coming back, and I…”

“One thing that you don’t have to be afraid of is me not coming back.” I said, stopping her. “I will always come back to you. That is one thing that I want you to keep in mind, my love.”

She studied my expression for a moment before she nodded, taking a deep breath as she did. She took a step back and motioned for me to head to the door.

“Just like that?” I asked, raising an amused eyebrow.

“You want to go to her. Go ahead and leave. Please, don’t keep her waiting. She is going to keep looking for you, and I don’t…”

“Ashley.” I said, stopping her. She looked down at her feet before looking me in the eye.

“Do you promise me that you are not going to look at her over me? You won’t see her as better than I am?” She asked, voicing out her fear. I smiled, shaking my head at her. I was going to teach her how to be the woman that she was supposed to be. I wasn’t going to leave her as the mess that she is in, especially if she was to be my wife.

But I wasn’t going to be foolish enough to tell her that. Instead, I smiled and took her hand in mine, kissing both her knuckles as I did, letting my lips linger there for a few moments before pulling away to look her in the eye.

“I have one woman in my life,” I said, making sure that I had her complete attention. “And that woman is you. She will always be

you, do

you understand me, Ashley?”

She smiled, having heard what she wanted before she nodded as she took a step back, allowing me to head to the door.

“Good, then you can go.” She said, making me chuckle. “I am being serious, leave before I change my mind. Because I seriously will.”

“Alright, baby girl.” I said, and she smiled. I walked toward the door and she opened it for me, watching as I walked out of the house before she closed the door. My smile faded in an instant, and I released a breath that I didn’t realize that I was holding.

“I am going to be sure to shape you to be the woman that I want you to be.” I muttered. “For now, I am going to have to take you for what you are. At least, until I am done with this divorce series…”
