Chapter 63
Chapter 63
(2 years later)
Nikolay:
“Must you go?” Ashley, my new secretary asked, shaking her head at me as she lay in my arms
I ran my finger over her waist, gently massaging it, and she sighed, knowing my response. I didn’t want to go, but I knew that I had to.
“The house is a mess as it is, and you know that Katerina is already doubting my long days and nights out. I owe it to the kids to at least be at home when they wake up.” I said, and she pouted. I smiled as I leaned in, connecting my lips with her temple. “Don’t worry, malyshka, one day, it is going to be as the two of us want it to be. But for now, we are going to be patient. There is a lot in stake and even Katerina knows of this affair, we can’t put things into court when she has proof of it.”
But
you said that she didn’t care.” Ashley said, and I nodded.
“As long as no feelings are involved, she chose more things to take care of. But you know that feelings are getting involved, malyshka.” I said, and she bit her bottom lip. I smiled and got up from the bed, knowing that she would be trying to make a fuss out of it.
And though, respecting Katerina, I didn’t tell her when I was seeing Ashley, she was well aware of my relationship with her. It just bothered her when it became too much as it ended up with neglect toward my ‘responsibilities‘ at home.
“One day the two of us are going to be together, and no one, not even her is going to stop us.” She said, and I nodded. I put my clothes on, knowing to leave. Alejandro, my driver, was already waiting
for me in the car.
“It is going to be as we want it to be,” I said, keeping my words vague. I wasn’t going to promise her something that I didn’t want to keep. I had my own peace and I didn’t intend to ruin it over a hookup.
“I really do hope so.” She said, and I nodded.
I walked toward the door, smiling at her one more time before closing the door. My eyes
hardened, and I walked down to the car, spraying my perfume as I rid myself of her smell. I didn’t want it to be the first thing that my wife smelled when I got home.
“Do you want us to go anywhere before heading home, boss?” Alejandro asked, and I shook my head. I wanted to go home. I had my break in the office after the long day earlier. I didn’t need to stay out any longer than necessary.
“No,” I said, looking out the window. It was getting dark anyway. “Take us home, Alejandro…”

Chapter 63
I smiled as I walked inside the house to see my wife, Katerina, sitting with our son and daughter,
our twins, in her arms.
She looked up at me, and I nodded, giving her a quick wink, not wanting her to wake them as I knew that they were asleep. She looked at my messy hair knowingly, but she didn’t bother commenting. It has been this way for a while now anyway,
I kissed the crown of her head, and I couldn’t help but smile when she leaned in toward my touch. Her eyes met mine for a second and I ran my finger over her cheekbone, massaging it gently.
“How are you?” I asked, my voice softening.
“I am well, and you?” She asked, and I nodded. I leaned in, kissing my children as they slept on the couch. Our voices were above a whisper, but the two of us knew better than to raise them. Waking the kids up was the last thing that we needed.
“Did they give you a fuss?” I asked, and she shook her head. I smiled and nodded, lifting our son, Andrew, in my arms. Katerina stood and wrapped her arms around Bianca. The two of us walked toward the room and laid our children on their cribs.
I nodded at the maid to take care of them before turning to my wife whose eyes met mine. She smiled, and I took her hand in mine, not wanting her to see the bruise that was on my collarbone. The last thing that I needed was a fuss right now. It was late enough as it was by now.
“Are you okay, Nikolay?” Katerina asked, noticing that I was quiet. I nodded, smiling at her before guiding her toward our bedroom.
The two of us walked inside, and I couldn’t help but find myself smiling inwardly as I was thankful to be back. The day was tiring enough as it was.
“It was a long day, that’s all.” I said, shaking my head as I tried to dismiss the topic. The last thing that I needed right now was an interrogation. Her eyes studied my expression, and she looked up at me for a second, raising an eyebrow.
“Do you want me to prepare a bath for you? You know, it’s been a while since the two of us have enjoyed one together. I think that it would do us justice, don’t you agree?” Katerina asked, pointing out the obvious. It was only when she asked that I touched her. My needs were satisfied elsewhere
anyway.
“Not tonight, malyshka.” I said, making her frown. “I really need to rest. And I know that our activities often end up being too long. But I wouldn’t mind you preparing the bed for us as I get out of the shower? A cold and dark room, a cozy night.”
“Alright.” She said, smiling at me. “It would be ready when you’re out.”
I nodded, taking a step back before walking toward the bathroom.
A small smile forming on my lips when I saw a text from HER.
