Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Crystal’s PO.V
“Relax girl… you are putting me on edge. This is not the first time that we have been going out of the pack,” I scolded Luna, who was pacing restlessly at the back of my mind.
“I can’t relax, Crystal. I. I.. I am having a feeling th… that something unexpected is going to happen tonight,” she answered me in a restless tone. We were on our way to the Crescent Moon Pack. Vincent wanted to come with me, but due to the prince’s earlier visit, he stayed behind as he had to finish so much work with William.vt had two warriors with me who will go back to the Blood Moon Pack tomorrow morning after leaving me to the Crescent Moon Pack.
“Everything will be okay and nothing is going to happen, Luna. It’s not like we are hot capable of keeping ourselves safe. Moreover, Theo is going to meet us midway. We will be okay,” I tried to comfort her, but she didn’t stop pacing. I gave her time to calm down, She sighed aloud after some time, and sat down.
“Why is he coming? He can send Nate to pick us up,” she asked me in a calm tone, and I rolled my eyes.
“He said that he is not comfortable with me traveling alone (I emphasized the word sarcastically) at this time of night,” | told her the reason Theo gave me over the call. She scowled and put her snout above her paws.
“You should rest now, I proposed to her.
“I also wanted to rest, pup. But this anxiety is taking a toll on me. I really don’t know why I am having this nagging feeling, which is putting me on the verge, she answered me in a sad, and restless tone.
I smiled and opened my eyes. I looked outside and sighed. It was almost midnight. The moon was shining brightly in the clear night sky. It was almost the end of summer, and the weather was neither too hot nor too cold. I loved this kind of weather. I moved my face out of the window and closed my eyes, feeling the light coldness of the air against my face.
I was glad that the prince was coming a few days earlier than his expected visit to my pack. It gave me a reason to go away from Adam earlier. I didn’t want to see him and his luna. The mate bond between us was already severed, and I had no regrets about accepting his rejection. He didn’t deserve me. He was full of himself, and I hated his greed for power. I was really thankful to Alpha Adrian for keeping the secret about my powers from Adam too.
I could tell him that I was not a weak wolf as he thought about me, but I chose not to when he told me why he wanted to take Rachel as his chosen mate. Luna and I were yet to find all our powers, but I didn’t want a power–greedy wolf as my mate. I would rather like to stay mateless my whole life instead of mating with a wolf like Adam.
“I am with you on this,” Luna chimed in between my thoughts, making me smile at her.
“I know…. And the best part is… that we now have enough “us” time together,” I chirped, and she laughed this time.
Suddenly, she jumped on her paws and howled aloud, making me panic.
“What’s going on, Luna?” I yelled at her in a panicked tone this time.
“Brace yourself up, pup…. We are about to get the great shock of our lives, I think,” she answered me in a mysterious tone as her face went serious.
“What? What are you talking about?” I asked her in a confused tone but looked down at my hands when my phone started vibrating in my hand. I smiled and picked up the call.
I
“We are about to reach the point where you asked me to stop for you,” I answered him in a light tone.
“I am already here, princess… and I can see your car,” he replied in a light tone. I immediately looked in front of the car and smiled when I saw his car at a good distance from us.
“You know that I am as weak as you think about me,” I complained, and I heard him laughing. One good thing about Theo was that he had an easygoing personality. He was the future alpha of his pack and also held the reputation of one of the strongest future alphas in the present time.
He could be ruthless at any time. He was also possessive and protective towards me, like my brothers, and I loved the pampering that he offered to me every time I visited his pack. We both hung up, and I scooted to the other end of the car as I had to open the door on that side.
I almost ran out of the car happily as soon as the car stopped. “Theo,” I chirped, and ran towards him, but stopped in my tracks when an intoxicating smell of cinnamon and clove hit my nostrils. I saw Theo also stop in his tracks, and his eyes widened in shock. It was the same state as mine.
“Mate,” Luna suddenly roared at the back of my mind. I felt that someone had snatched the ground under my feet. “What happened, Crystal?” someone asked me in a worried tone, but I was now frozen in my place. It couldn’t be. How could it be? Why was the Moon Goddess doing this to me? How could she do this to me?
I moved back and walked towards the back seat of my car. All I wanted right now was to run away from here. I didn’t want to go through the second rejection. Tears started building up in my eyes, and I sniffed harder. Before I could even reach the door of the car, a jolt of electricity hit all my nerves inside my b*dy, and he fl*pped my b*dy towards him.
“Where are you going, princess?” he asked me in a stern tone. I didn’t look up but at his chest. “L… I thi.. think th.. that I sh… should s.. stay an.. anywhere else f.. for some days,” I answered him in a cracked voice. I tried to keep myself calm, but I was not calm. Luna howled in pain at the back of my mind.
He pulled me into his embrace and wrapped his hands around my waist.
“And why do you think this, huh?” he asked me in the same stern voice. The sparks generated from all the places where our bodies touched each other were so intense that I felt I would explode at any time.
“Th.. this can’t possible… y.. you know that this can’t be possible,” I looked at his handsome face this time, but tears blurred my vision. He didn’t answer me this time but he put my head on his chest. I welcomed this comfort and wrapped my hands around his torso.
“What is going on, Theo?” I asked him in a choked tone.
“I’m not sure, but we’ll find it soon,” he reassured me quietly, but I could hear his frustration in his voice. None of us were ready for this. Luna retreated back into my mind. I knew that she was also sad. This was not what we expected, not even in my dreams.
“Let’s go,” he said and I tightened my grip on him. “Do… do you want… to.. to… re… reject me?” I asked him in a fearful tone this time.
“What? Wh… what are you thinking?” he yelled while scolding me. I sobbed hard this time and closed my eyes. I didn’t want to feel the pain of rejection again, but I felt I was out of luck when it came to mates.
“Let’s go from here. It’s not safe to stay out here at this hour,” he insisted, then released me from his embrace. I instantly missed the warmth of his embrace. He held my hand in his hand and almost dragged me towards his car.
“I.. I can come in my car, you know,” I proposed because I really didn’t know what exactly was going on here. We must stay away from each other until we figure out what exactly was going on. He stopped and moved towards me. I blinked harder while looking at him. He cupped my face and stroked my cheek with his thumb. I could see sadness and confusion in his beautiful hazel eyes.
“I don’t know what game fate is playing with us, Crystal. But you are not staying away from me from now on. If. if the Moon Goddess has given you as my mate, then, I must accept her decision,” he said to me in a calm tone. I just stared at him blankly, not knowing what to say to him.
“Hunter also agrees with me. He wants you to stay calm and trust us,” he told me, telling me what his wolf wanted to say t us. I smiled faintly and nodded this time. We started walking again, and he kept my hand in his large hand. We were cousins, and he had to reject me sooner or later, but I was glad he had no intention of rejecting me. He had to, but that wouldn’t be his will
He let me enter his car first and then entered behind me. He wrapped his hand around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him.
“Close your eyes and rest for a while. I will wake you up when we reach there,” he instructed me in a calm tone.
“Are you mad at me?” I asked him in a low tone.
“No… why would I be?” he asked me in a low and calm tone.
to
“I ran away the next second I realized that.. that, I paused, as I didn’t want to say that word aloud. The driver and a warrior from his pack were sitting in front of us.
“Yes.. for that. I am mad at you. You made me feel that I am not worthy of you by the way you reacted. I could see pain and disappointment on your face.
“I… I felt th.. that I am not the mate you were expecting for you,” he answered me, and I looked up at him apologetically.
“I am sorry,” I whispered to him and he looked down at my face.
“It’s just… I was in shock wh.. when I felt that you are my mate, and you know the reason,” I said to him again in whispers while looking at him apologetically. I blinked when I saw some emotions cross his eyes. My eyes fell on his l*ps, and I gulped hard. I must be insane, as I was thinking about k*ssing my cousin right now. His l*ps were so tempting, and my heart started running a marathon inside my chest. I didn’t feel the bond so strong with Adam when he grabbed my hand before rejecting me. It was stronger than that with Theo.
“Don’t tempt me, Crystal…. It’s really hard for me to keep myself in control, and not k*ss you right now. You know that I can feel your emotions too now, and I know that you also want to k*ss me,” Theo complained, but he teased me in the end, and I immediately lowered my head to hide the blush on my cheeks.
He chuckled and held me tightly in his embrace. I put my hand on his chest and snuggled lightly. I didn’t hear of any mated couples in the past who were cousins or siblings. Aunt Silvia was my father’s biological sister. It made me Theo’s cousin in a close relationship. We couldn’t be mates with each other, Still, we were here together, fighting with ourselves so that we couldn’t do anything that we would regret in the future. I loved Theo but as a brother. I didn’t know if I would be able to love him as a mate. What exactly did the Moon Goddess want from me?
