Chapter 159 

Theo’s POV 

I held Crystal tightly into my embrace while trying to keep myself calm but it wasn’t easy for either me or Thunder. This was a huge blow to everyone, but what could we expect from someone like Marcus? 

He asked Queen Catherine to go back to him in front of her mates, and her pups. He not only humiliated her but also made fun of us at the same time, taunting us silently that we couldn’t keep our families and mates from dangers like him. 

“There must be a way, Theo… there must be a way… I.. I can’t be the reason for their deaths…. They they are the reason that I am alive and living a good life… ho… how can I be the reason of their deaths, Theo…. How can I let them die…. There must be a way to save them.” Crystal wailed aloud while hitting my chest. 

I kept on holding her tightly in my embrace with this pathetic feeling of being helpless in this matter. It was good that Ivory was still unconscious, or else, I didn’t know what would be the situation here. 

Everyone around us was now looking at Crystal with a painful gaze. Catherine was also crying in Kyson’s embrace. She had hidden her face inside his chest in shame. She was also cursing herself for Martha and Warrick’s deaths. I didn’t want to blame her because she never asked Marcus or anyone else to like her. This wasn’t her choice but 

William was also crying silently while looking at his parents with blank eyes. He was still sitting beside Warrick on the bed, holding his hand tightly. Vincent was also rocking her mother’s unconscious b*dy in his embrace while crying silently. 

The same witch that Vincent was holding earlier was now comforting Vincent while holding him tightly by his shoulders. Adam was also crying silently while looking at Martha and Warrick blankly. They were like a parent figure to him too. It was a heavy blow for everyone present in the room. 

Suddenly a faint laughter broke the thick and suffocating silence in the room. I looked at Ruben angrily, tightening my grip on Crystal. She stopped crying suddenly and slowly, her head moved. on my chest. I felt her hands forming fists on my chest. 

“You lost…. you lost, Nelson….. You lost.” Ruben said in a very meek voice while laughing lightly. He was also on the death bed, yet he had the audacity to make fun of us. “Prepare the stake,” Elizabeth announced in a cold tone, making all of us look at her in shock.

“We have to finish this ritual before any of them die, William. You can’t let your parents‘ death vain. They risk their lives for the sake of Crystal and your younger sister. You have to make a decision and have to respect their decision.” Elizabeth said to William in the same cold but stern tone this time.

“There is no way out, Theo. I searched for everything that I can…. This curse is meant to kill the carriers….. Martha and Warrick are not the original carriers. if they die alone… the curse will go back to Crystal and her younger sister….. Resulting in their deaths,” Thunder told me in a serious. and painful tone. 

I felt a pang of pain hitting my chest… this was really a difficult situation to decide in. “Tell this to William and Vincent…. This is about their parents and their sisters… they must know all the pros and cons of this situation.” Thunder said further, and I took a deep breath, suppressing my pain. 

I looked down at Crystal, and my heart broke into a million pieces. I guess Luna also told her about this curse. “I… I made the worst decision of my life… I… I regretted it now. But now, I know what I need to do.” Crystal murmured so low, but I still heard her. 

“You dare, Crystal. If you think that they don’t know about this, it doesn’t mean that I don’t know too, I threatened her, still holding her tightly while glaring at her. She stiffened and slowly moved her face towards me. I scoffed and looked away. Thunder was also angry with Crystal, but he didn’t 

say a word. 

I looked at Elizabeth, and she nodded to me, indicating that she also knew what Thunder told me. “What is it. Theo? What did we don’t know?” William asked me in a stern tone this time. “Don’t.” Crystal stopped me immediately while looking at me with a pleading gaze, but he had every right. to know the whole truth. 

“Thunder and Luna told us that this curse is meant to kill the original carriers. If Martha and Warrick die alone… the curse will go back to the original carriers and it will kill them. So, she decided to kill herself before they die to save them.” I told him the truth without any hesitation. 

His eyes widened in horror this time. The reality hit us hard, but there was nothing that we could do about this situation. “You have to make the decision quickly, William….. Marcus can’t hold for long. Elizabeth urged him in a hurried tone. I also closed my eyes and felt tears escaping my eyes 

Crystal once again started crying and hid her face inside my chest. “We need to make her unconscious, Theo….. She is not in the right state of mind.” Thunder spoke to me in the same tone. but the pain was now dominating his voice. I hardened my heart while deciding to hit her. 

“I am sorry, my love.” I whispered to Crystal while slowly opening my eyes. Crystal also lifted her head up towards me while looking at me in confusion. Before she could understand or ask me anything, I hit her on the back of her n*eck, making her unconscious immediately. I knew that she would blame me after waking up, but this was best for her. 

I looked at William apologetically, but he passed a faint smile through tearful eyes. He understood my actions. I carried her into my embrace in bridal style and went towards the bed where her sister was lying. I put her down on the bed gently beside her sister. 

Suddenly a faint cough attracted our attention. “Mom,” William called in a panicked tone. Both he and Vincent ran to their parents and kneeled beside the bed where they were lying. Both Martha

and Warrick had opened their eyes. Their eyes were now half–opened, and it seemed that it took a great effort from them to wake up again.

too. 

“We don’t have much time left… hurry up, William.” Elizabeth urged William once again. William nodded to her, making me ball up my fists tightly. This was really hard for all of us. I looked at them with blank eyes, feeling helpless. I blamed myself for being selfish here. 

William k*ssed the forehead of both his parents before slowly standing up from the bed. Someone brought two stakes into the room. Vincent also k*ssed their foreheads while crying silently. Martha k*ssed her forehead too, with a faint but peaceful smile on her face, 

Elizabeth instructed us to move away and protect Crystal and Ivory. It might be possible that they gain consciousness in the middle of the ritual and do something to interrupt the procedure, especially Crystal. 

Elizabeth asked her witches to lift Martha and Warrick from the bed and put them on the floor with Marcus and Ruben. Both of them tried to resist, but they were harshly slapped and kicked by the witches. 

Elizabeth and Vincent‘ mate, Emily, came forward and started enchanting something in a loud tone. They were using an ancient language that I didn’t know. No other witch joined them, indicating that it was something that only the royal bloodline of witches knew. Emily was still

I didn’t want to see Martha and Warrick die in front of my eyes. I knew that Crystal would try to go through my memories to see this, but I was also not brave enough to see them dic. mind. 

There were a few more cries in the room, but I didn’t have enough courage to open my eyes and look at them. Everyone around me was crying now. I felt Crystal’s fingers moving inside my grip, but it only made me tighten my grip on her fingers. 

“We have to stay strong for our mates, and our brothers, Theo. William and Vincent are devastated. Crystal still has her biological parents, but they are the ones who are affected the most. They became orphaned, and it was a big blow to both their minds and hearts, Thunder said to me in a cracked, but serious tone.
