Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
The sound of the machine echoed around Alexis, and she pondered where she was.
It almost felt like she was run down by a truck or something
She opened her eyes with a soft blink, wincing in pain at the bright light.
“So you
ou are finally awake,” The nurse on the shift remarked, and Alexis looked at her confused.
“What time is it? Where am I?” Alexis asked in her hoarse voice.
“You don’t know? You got lucky. Someone brought you to the hospital half an hour ago. You were bleeding all over the place. Don’t you know not to stay alone when you are turning into a wolf for the first time? How could you be this stupid? Thanks to that man or you would’ve died from blood loss,” The nurse said, and Alexis realized that not much time had passed.
A man saved her? But who was it? She felt like she saw his face, but it was so blurry that she couldn’t make out his features clearly. And what about those men who were following her? What happened to them? Many thoughts ran through her head.
“I… my phone, is it here?” Alexis asked to inform her husband that she was in the hospital or he would recklessly get worried about her and get angry later.
However, as soon as that thought crossed her mind, she remembered those news anchors‘ words and what those men following her said.
“Here it is. Once the drip is over, pay the bill and get your discharge. There is nothing we can do to heal The nurse said coldly before leaving.
With her trembling hands, rather than looking for her husband, Alexis opened the browser.
He was indeed making the headlines.
“The CEO of Augustine Enterprises gets a bit intimate with his girlfriend.”
your wounds,”
“The CEO of Augustine Enterprises is bound to tie the knot with his girlfriend who turns out to be his mate.”
“The girlfriend is the fated mate who saved his life, says people around CEO Augustus,”
Alexis read the headlines and saw the images of her husband hugging the secretary who was now known as his girlfriend.
A mocking smile appeared on her face as rogue tears rolled down her cheeks once again. Everything she did for her love, to get loved, everything felt like a lie.
It took her two years to realize the stark reality of her life. It was never about whether she was an omega or a beta, it was always about Marianna
Even before she was there, she had heard the rumors of her husband being extra caring towards Marianna. At that time she had thought that no bond was larger than the bond between mates and she had urged him to get married to

her.
But it was all her wishful thinking, no?
Her mom was wrong. Not everyone’s mate turns out to be loving and caring. Not everyone’s bond stays lifelong and is a blessing for them.
You were wrong, mom. You were so wrong. My heart… my heart has bled enough for a man who didn’t deserve an ounce of it. I can’t do it anymore, Alexis whispered to herself before she called a cab to return to the house she used to call home.
She paid the hospital bills and left meticulously, her dress still stained with her own blood as her heart hardened.
“M–miss,” The driver stuttered when he saw her state, but she just asked him to get going.
Once in front of the house, Alexis smiled at her fate in mockery.
“You always hated returning to this house because I stayed here for so long and you despised me, no? Well, I will change that for you, Alexis went inside the house, entering his study.
Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t have dared to do something like this, but today she didn’t care about anything at all.
She looked at the divorce papers that Augustus had already prepared beforehand.
These were the divorce papers he used to threaten her with all the time to get his way around,
And naive her would always follow whatever he had to say, just in fear of not getting a divorce. But now that she looked at the papers, she felt nothing. Did this marriage hold any meaning!
Alexis looked at the house one last time, her gaze falling on the blood on the ground, the proof of how she bled in these two years of marriage before she boarded the cab straight to the council.
The loud echoing thunderclaps resonated with the storm in her heart as she walked towards the large gates of the council after her journey.
Marcos, who was about to go out of the council chambers to meet one of the alphas for an urgent meet–up, looked at Alexis, who was standing in front of the gates, drenched from head to toe.
“Alexis? Is that you? Oh my What happened to you? Come inside,” Marcos took her inside, surprising everyone who had gathered for their dinner.
She was still dressed in her blood–stained clothes that were dripping wet now.
“Marcos, what’s – Alexis? What is all this? Did you get hurt?” the council head walked ahead as he looked at the familiar girl standing there with a pitiful gaze.
“I am here to announce something. Announce what I should’ve done two years ago,” Alexis said as she looked at all the council members, present in the dining room.
“The announcement can wait. First-“The Council Head started, but he saw the resolute look in Alexis’s eyes and gulped.
This wasn’t the gaze of the same girl who used to smile happily and roam around the council chambers with her father and call him uncle.
It was the gaze of a wounded she–wolf who had been wronged. The council head’s heart clenched painfully as he recognized the pain in her eyes.
“LI. Alexis Dimitri, hereby reject my bond with Augustus Sinister Volkow, the alpha of the Black Moon Sins pack. I, Hereby declare the end of my marriage with Alpha Augustus, Alexis said before she slammed the divorce papers the table and took the pen from Marcos’s pocket.
She was about to sign the divorce papers in the presence of the council head as the ritual should’ve gone Marcos held her hand.
when
“Alexis, what are you doing? This is Augustus we are talking about. We all know how much you loved that man. What happened overnight “Marcos asked but paused when he saw tears in Alexis’s eyes.
A sad smile appeared on her face as she looked at the divorce papers.
Never in her life had she expected that she would be the one to initiate the divorce, but could she really do anything after everything?
“I indeed loved him, but he didn’t.. Alexis didn’t go into details and just signed the divorce papers.
She turned around to leave but Marcos held her hand.
“Where are you going in this storm? You are already weak,” he started but Alexis smiled.
“I am coming out of an even bigger storm. This is nothing,” Alexis whispered before she left.
Meanwhile, at the same time in the Blue Stone bar, Augustus, who was having drinks with his beta and friends, stayed. unaware of all the gossip around him.
“Augustus, what are you thinking about?” Mariannia asked Augustus with her hand placed over his, and the man just glared at her hand, making her retreat immediately.
“It’s nothing “Augustus started, but as soon as he said those words, he felt an excruciating pain in his heart, making him wince in pain, his hand subconsciously going to his chest.
“Augustus! What’s happening!” Marianna immediately shouted, and all their friend’s attention went to Augustus, who held the side of the sofa with a confused expression as the pain intensified.
“Augustus, where are you going?” Marianna tried to get hold of the man, who used his alpha speed to reach his car.
What was going on? The thought inexplicably crossed his mind.
This pain… this kind of pain… Augustus gulped, unsure if what he was feeling was true or not.
He was about to start the car when he received the call from the council hend.
“Hello,”
“This call is made to inform you that the council has accepted the rejection of the mate bond from Alexis Coral,” the council head said before ending the call without even waiting for his reply.
Augustus sat frozen in his place for a few seconds, his knuckles on the steering wheel turning white.
He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
Rejection from Alexis Coral? His mate? Did this woman really leave him after all this time? After all this time of threatening her with a divorce, she left him suddenly.
But why?
He felt a slightly uneasy feeling in his heart, making him clench his chest before he shook the feeling away and drove
Chaquer a
home.
