Chapter 9
"For what?"
"After reaching a certain level, they will be able to choose between protecting our land and affording human tasks. "
"I'm a Beta, and Davis is an alpha."
"And Susan, you are alpha's mate, a Luna."
My eyes widen.
"Me?"
Neme gives a slow nod.
"Humans don't have the same feelings as wolves. The wolf's senses are very sensitive. When we first meet and become closer to our mate, we feel a little drawn towards them."
Hearing this, I begin to question Hunter's statements.
"There's no way, no how," I mumble, hoping they'll laugh and tell me it's all a joke, but it doesn't work.
Without a doubt, this is not the case. I start to feel a pang of soreness in the middle of my rib cage.
"He didn't say," I remark as I look down at the wooden table with just sadness and uncertainty in my eyes. "I speak in hushed tones."
Neme lets out a gasp. "David didn't want-"
"However, he didn't mention anything about Hunter!" I scream.
"It demonstrates his cowardice and mateship!" I scream.
I get out of my chair and rearrange it in the dining room. I'm in pain as I go out of the dining room and into my room. Damn it!
When I get into my room, the first thing I do is head straight for the large bed. The blankets are in tatters, and numerous pillows have been strewn on the floor. I pull the cover-up to my chin.
Everything that I've learned is fresh in my memory. I'm curious as to where Alison and Jessica fall on the scale. Everything makes clear now.
What David and Hunter were thinking when they didn't want us to depart.
The surprised and impressed expressions on everyone's faces in the dining room.
Understandably, I'm ashamed since I never thought werewolves could exist, but I can't seem to escape the feeling that creeps up my spine and into my neck, and then into my ears.
I close my eyes and think about everything for a few minutes while I look into the darkness.
David is standing in the doorway of my room, his arms wrapped across his toned chest.
With perfectly coiffed black hair and piercing blue eyes. I slouch against the headboard, my face flushed.
The entrance to my chamber is marked by the raising of David's brow, as if he is paying close attention to me.
I give him a smirk. The fact that David is already aware of what I'm going to say isn't shocking at all.
"How come you didn't inform me? You saved my life, but you didn't tell me why. You are allowing me to be completely uninformed and an idiot! After all, if you're an Alpha, strong and deadly, and you can morph into a freaking wolf, why didn't you tell me I was supposed to be your mate?"

He doesn't say anything, just looks at me. I rise to my feet and go over to him.
"You're a coward," A werewolf who is too terrified to tell her human husband about her werewolf status.
"Hunter, your Beta, informed Neme, but you, as an Alpha, did not. "That's what a coward does,
Even though I'm just a few feet away, I can feel his wrath building. David clenches his fists. He then takes a deep breath and looks me in the eyes. "Sorry." His blue eyes are cast downward as he leans forward.
I look at him with a surprised face. I wasn't expecting him to accept my apology. Is this some kind of rant? Yes. Is there a chance of death? Probably.
A man who seems to be powerful and intimidating one minute and then feeble the next stands before me. I approach him with caution, hoping that he would not get furious.
"I was afraid of being rejected. The possibility of rejecting one's mate exists, but the emotional damage is far worse."
"You will never be able to love someone as much as your partner. No way in hell. The reason I didn't tell you is because I was afraid of your rejection and the following pain."
We're still close to one another. David's body heat is palpable to me. Whatever David has to say about Lunas is taken into consideration. What she'd do to help the women and children.
"Can you tell me when my Luna Ceremony is?" I'd want to know more.
"As soon as you're ready."
My brows furrow with concentration. It's impossible to predict when I'll be ready for the Luna Ceremony.
I like to think of myself as a wolf. I can't imagine what it would be like to be human and then a wolf.
"How are you doing?"
I inquire. He lifts his brows in concentration. "Wolfing?"
David's eyes widen as he nods his head. "The first adjustment period is frequently the most difficult, but your body eventually becomes adapted to it." Pain is seldom experienced. Humans have wolves living inside of them. Conscience exists in animals, just as it does in people.
David's gaze is drawn away as he talks. He scratched his head back, almost as if he were embarrassed.
"Depending on the situation, your wolf may experience certain emotions and have a strong urge to conduct specific actions."
"Which?" I'd want to know more. I get a tingling sensation up my spine. I'm not obtaining all of the information once again. I take a deep breath and walk back.
"You're not going to tell me?" I'm perplexed, so I enquire.
I tap him on the chest. If you choose to communicate with me, please tell me everything. Don't just start telling me everything and then stop talking to me.
I go right by him and up the stairway. Jessica is cleaning kitchenware in the sink of her apartment.
"Tell me what my boy got up to last night." She carries on with her cleaning.
When Jessica sees the sponge, she laughs and sets it on the stone. She gives me a kind grin as she turns to face me.
"Can you tell me where your mate is?"
"He watched for his pack, making sure their needs were satisfied and their houses were warm in the winter. He was assassinated by a Rogue. "I get a shudder. My chest tightens when I think about it." Jessica smiles and nods.
