Alpha's Human Luna

Chapter 55

Each stride hurts my calves, then my knees. My sole motivation is a nice bath with bubbles and candles. As I reach the top step, David sighs and swoops down, bridle-style. I fight him. "Let me go, David!" I resist, but even to me, I sound weak. "I'll fetch you the book we were talking about," Jessica says as she moves out of David's path.

My hands tremble on David's chest. "Thanks." I immediately respond before David walks away from his mother and into our room.

"Our connection can only take so many of your objections." David stomps up the stairs.

"My legs," I merely say. I'm too tired to make a snide remark.

Opening the bedroom door, I relax into the mattress, letting out a happy sigh. David chuckles and kisses the top of my head.

"Get a bath. Bubbles?"

"Duh." My eyes are shut.

David's soft chuckle reaches my ears, and I can't help but grin. Soon after, I hear the gushing water from the bathtub.

"Susan?" It's me.

I open my eyes and face the bedroom door. Jessica enters the room with a sheepish grin and worried gaze, seeing I'm carelessly lying on the bed.

"Here," A book is placed near my head. I rise and grab for the book. I can only picture what's inside the soft, chilly leather. "Thanks." I look up at Jessica, but the leather book captivates me. "Thanks. Will you help me when I'm confused?"

The hand on my thigh tightens and runs down to my knee, then back up to my hip. Ripples of water form in the tub. "Of course, baby."

My body and heart are warm., and elegant penmanship fills the entire page span.

January 1658

We form a pack with only four people.

I'm eighteen, and we've got a pack.

And then I look up from the book and see David.

"Wait. Can you read on, David? "Thoughts spin in my head.

"Of course," he mumbles before continuing.

When David gets halfway through his great-great grandfather's journal, the bath bubbles are gone, and the water is frigid.

I never thought humans had a role in werewolf society, but they have.

Yeri often expressed his desire for a mate but never found one.

Then I imagine my girlfriend holding me with her solid but compassionate hand throughout dinner.

"David, Yeri sounds so sad."

David carefully kissed my shoulder with his gentle lips, causing a quiver down my side. And David muttered, "I know."

Yeri seated the pack's twenty members at the new table and Leryserved their fresh stew. David closes Yeri's notepad, and I squirm on David's lap, pleased Yeri met his mate Lery. "We want to know about our pack's history!"

"We've been in the tub too long, Susan,"

David gives me a white towel to wrap over my chest and hide in the corner, but I refuse.

David, clad in a towel and flexing his biceps, pauses and raises a puzzling blonde brow. Why is he staring at me? "What?"I ask, grabbing for my toothbrush.

I start combing my blonde hair, which is matted and dry at the crown and damp at the tips, but David takes my brush. My hair needs brushing. He moves to stand behind me, warming my back, ass, and legs. "It's a mess-" I argue.

David brushes my hair softly, avoiding knots and tangles until it is wholly combed and tangle-free.

David holds my hip and sways our bodies to a rhythm in his head.

Reading Yeri's worries, joys, and wrath offered me a new perspective.

I'll try to convince David to read more before bed.

"What did I realize?"I turn away from David's exposed chest.

"Also, not all wolves mate or may never mate."

David's blue eyes soften, and he releases my hips to gently grip my cheeks with his large hands and cover my lips with his. David still holds my face in his hands and watches me with a softened gaze and a smile.

"I understand it, Susan. Let's get some food," David quips.

I open the bedroom door and go down the hall, then up the stairs, David close behind me.

I turn on my heel, expecting a man to be there, but what the hell?

-A tree?

Does the living room have a tree?

David squints at the floor, sometimes looking up at me.

"A full moon present early."

In the living room, the tree seems to be around twenty feet tall, with perfect branches for ornaments and lights.

"A tree for me?"I mumble, lost in the moment.

This is something I wanted to show you yesterday, but you went to Hunter. I have a few ornament recipes-"

I giggle and thrust myself into David's arms, placing my arms around his neck and clutching him till my arms ache.

David blinks slightly before nodding silently. Our bond warms when I kiss his delicate lips, generating a beautiful feeling between our bodies.

After two days until the entire moon festival, I decided to get everyone's presents and put them beneath the tree.

Perhaps we can light a fire, drink hot chocolate, and read Yeri's diary after decorating?

"I nod, "David asks.

Then I take David's hand and pull him into the kitchen, grinning and laughing.

Crunch.

I pause the TV to look at David, putting more cheese on his cracker and smiling at it, but he stops when he notices my gaze.

"You eat loud."

The bond sizzles, and a flood of heat fill my body.

So I groan and play.

The empty cracker box and crumbled cheese wrapper are on the coffee table in front of us. I lift my head from David's shoulder and lay on his lap. When David begins twirling my blonde curls over his fingers, I moan and close my eyes, falling asleep. Clickety-click.

I softly awakened from my nap, my senses focused on the heat, laughter, and the pine fragrance tickling my nose.

Jessica sits at the coffee table, a camera strap over her neck, her tan hands warm from the warmth.

"Afternoon! Glad you awoke."

"What's up, Jessica?"I massage my eyes.
