Chapter 29
The wretched masked dude is taunting me in my brain.
Then I scream and all I see was black.
I fainted...
Hours later
I open my eyes and look up at the broken concrete ceiling above me.
I attempt to move my head, but a searing agony rises and rushes down my spine, forcing me to hiss.
I groan in anguish as the same ache rushes down my spine. Suddenly, a creaking sound followed by heavy footsteps stops me in mid-scream.
When David's head appears in my line of sight, I let out a relieved sigh. He crouches and kisses my cheeks. His brows are furrowed and creased. I raise my hand cautiously.
"You're finally awake, Susan." David sighs. He kisses my nose. I let out a fearful sob and cry.
My cheeks and neck are flushed. David quickly consoles me. He gently brings me into his lap, and I nestle into the crook of his warm neck.
"I-I feared!" I yelled.
"Never again. I swear."
David softly takes my head and adjusts it so I can see his face. "I'm not sure why, but it will end, Susan. No one harms my Luna."
My body relaxes, but I worry about how David will find this guy. How could he get into my thoughts?
"Soon you'll know. Yuri will clarify."
Eda? The door creaks open, and Yuril ooks at David and me and grins.
"This is Eda, who assisted you early this morning."
Yuri approaches, grins, and pats the nape of my neck. My cheeks heated since I'm still on David's lap, but David doesn't notice because he was focused on Yuri.
Yuri's touch on my neck causes me to sweat. The heat dissipates as she removes her hand, nodding her head and pursed lips. I rapidly assess her. Yuri wears a tight black top and a flowing white dress. Yuri approaches Eda and offers me a liquid containing glass. I take it from her and peek inside, seeing liquid.
"It'll relieve your neck," Yuri tells me, pointing to my stiffness.
After I push myself to swallow, I choke. The drug is vile. Like asphalt, it tastes like a damn bottle of booze. Tingling in my brain indicates the vile drug is working. "Thank you," I speak to Yuri without vomiting the drug.
David then gets me from his lap.
"Will you explain?"
Yuri frowns at me. "I am Eda, chief of my tribe of magic".
Yuri sees David. "I've known David for many years. I rushed to aid David's friend when I heard he was in danger. Witchcraft was used."
Wind enters the room, lighting Yuri's black irises. A magical air and light fill my gulp. I haven't thought about magic, and it gives me goosebumps today.
David touches my hip. His touch inflames my body. My body tingles and longs for his hand to move. Move all over my body. Focusing on Yuri.
"Yuri, here, tried to keep you motionless. That's when I started mixing materials to get him out of your head. It had to be moved." Eda softly touches the same region on my neck. "I'm come to get you." "But mind and brain are distinct, Susan. The guy was attacking your mentality, not your brain. Things should return to normal." Yuri says, smiling, to calm me.
"Thank you," I say to E Yuri.
"For the sake of Allies, Luna."
"Your neck should be cured in a few hours," Yuri says.
David pinches my hip "ok."
"Relax, Susan."
David caresses my face as Yuri exit the quiet bedroom.
I'm worried he'll haunt me. I hold David's huge hand to keep him still. David's beautiful eyes follow me. In the next moment, he falls down next to me and stares into my eyes.
"I can't even imagine my life without you!"
"Wait, Alpha."Yuri cautions us before leaving. David opens the door. When I go outdoors, my jaw drops.
This is not how I imagined Eda's clan. Everywhere there are houses constructed of dark wood that are falling and crumbling. The pointed rooftops have chimneys with black smoke billowing. When we leave Eda's tribe, the smoke diminishes and the perfume of pine fills my senses.
"How far are we?" I wrinkle my brows as I inhale the clean aroma my body is grateful for.
"Hunter will pick us up in half an hour." His deep voice sends chills on my arms.
We walk too much.
Long enough for the chilly wind to give me goosebumps,
After several yards, I spot a familiar car. Knowing I would soon have a warm bed and dinner motivates me to go faster.
"You know what I'll do when we return?"
David smiles at me. "Wait, Susan."
I groan, grabbing the door handle. I slam the door, get inside, and crawl to the other side so David can join me. Hunter turns to face me.
"You scared us all, Susan, especially Neme." Hunter says. He then turns and starts driving.
Closing my eyes, I lie back on the seat, allowing myself to rest now that I'm at ease. A hand coils around my knees, squeezing the body area. I feel safe and secure. And if I opened my eyes, I'd be crying. Then I'll retire to bed after a nice lunch prepared by your darling mother. I said.
As the hand on my knee moves upwards towards my hip, it ignores my waist and is lifted off my shoulders. I raise my stiff neck to make David comfortable, then lay my face on his chest, eyes closed.
I can feel his toned stomach through his shirt and hear his heartbeat against his chest. I grin, nodding off till I get home
When I get out of the car, I find Jessica at the front gate, her face distorted in worry. It's just that I'm wary of being tired.
David shuts the door behind me. David pecks my temple as I raise my head. A lengthier kiss on my temple than usual causes my gray eyes to shut. I grab for his hand and grasp it as we go towards Jessica. Jessica greets me with a loving, motherly embrace. My arms reach to her waist, my gray eyes welling up with tears.
