Alpha's Fated Slave Mate

Chapter 43 Sleeping together

And my residence, on the other side, near the outskirts of the city.

"Miss Kasha, all the details of Puro City will be sent to you later." Mede said and led me into the manor.

All the items in the manor were more expensive, and the halls and bedrooms were more luxurious than the rest of the place.

It didn't take long for a middle-aged man to walk into the hall; he was the butler Mede had found.

The butler also brought over the information of Puro City in the recent years and put it on the table.

"Puro City has a total of two mines, one is an iron mine and the other is a coal mine. But because of Sword's incompetence, the two mines have stopped working long ago." Mede handed me the documents while sorting them out. "We've also gotten a general idea of the situation in Puro City in the past two days, and we can't imagine what the city has gone through to be in such a state of disrepair." Carlton said, shaking his head.

Throughout the afternoon, Mede and Carlton told me about what they had learned in Puro City.

"Tomorrow we'll do pre-mining tests on the two mines first, then recruit workers to mine if everything is okay, and then we'll trade to the other cities." I said to Mede and Carlton.

"Mills City needs a large supply of coal, and after the disruption of the coal mine in Puro City, we can only buy from other cities, the distance is far and the cost required is relatively much higher." Mede said to me. "So you asked me to be the lord of the city, actually for that coal mine?" I asked with a smile.

"That's just one of the reasons, the most important thing is that you are the most suitable." Mede smiled back.

"Well, I can sell coal to Mills City, but you have to remember to pay, you can count on a cheaper, friendly price." I said to him.

"Carlton, she's moving in the direction of being a financial junkie now." Mede looked at Carlton and said, but with a smile on his face.

But the biggest problem now is still the civilians on the outskirts of Puro City.

Mede told me that Puro City has been governed by Sword's family for hundreds of years, and has also been divided into several different classes.

The outermost civilians are the lowest class, their status is more like slaves, so Knox will choose to use them as living shields after they take over Puro City.

Upwards are the general population, with workers and warriors also mostly coming from among them.

Further up are the more honored people, merchants or officials.

The lives and deaths of the commoners are not even cared for in this city, they are like ants in the dark, living their whole lives to create benefits for the upper class.

I suddenly remembered my father once told me that he didn't like the city, not only because there was no freedom in the city, but also because the people in the city had different hierarchical divisions. Although his wolf pack also had a hierarchy, those people preferred to call him by his name directly, and he also thought that was more intimate.

But the only way to change the city the way it is now is to enable the civilians to live a better life.

Mede and Carlton and I spent the whole afternoon talking about Puro City, forgetting about dinner.

"Kasha, can we have dinner now?" Melia asked as a small head popped up at the entrance to the hall and looked at me.

"Sure, I'm sorry I forgot, let's stop here for today and we'll have dinner together." I said to Mede and Carlton as I stood up and walked over to Melia. Melia had changed into a fine dress with a bow on her back that swayed with her as she ran.

She hadn't asked me about her mother, but I knew that she was hiding sadness and longing in her heart.

Melia looked just as beautiful as her mother, with long eyelashes, snow-white skin, and light blonde curls that made her look like a walking Barbie doll.

At the table, Melia sat next to me as she stared at the fruit on the other side of the table.

"Want a taste?" I asked, smiling down.

"May I?" Melia asked me carefully, afraid she might say the wrong thing.

"Sure." I place the cut fruit in front of her, and Melia smiles sweetly as she lowers her head and begins to eat the fruit.

Mede and Carlton will also be staying here for a while.

After dinner, the housekeeper had asked the maid to organize their rooms, and Melia's room was next to mine.

She didn't seem to want to be close to anyone else but me.

I also didn't tell her that the wolf she stabbed that day was me.

When I returned to my room, I realized that I was tired and sleepy, and my body was as heavy as if I had a big stone on it.

When I was ready to sleep, there was a knock at the door.

I opened the door and there was Melia, holding a small pillow, standing barefoot on the carpet at the door, wearing a pink nightgown and looking at me with clear eyes.

"Kasha...... can I sleep in your room?" Melia asked, looking at me accusingly and hugging the little pillow in her arms tightly.

"Yes, and very willingly." I replied with a smile as I knelt down and stroked her head.

Melia walked into the room with her pillow in her arms, looked around, and finally made her way over to the couch next to me and climbed onto it.

"Are you going to sleep on the couch?" I asked as I walked over and looked at her.

"Yes, I'll get beaten if I sleep on the bed." Melia said to me as she sat on the couch, holding out her arm for me to see.

On the outside of her arm, there were a few bruises that had healed, but I could imagine what it was like when she was hurt.

"What's going on here?" I asked, looking at her.

"Mr. Smith and his housekeeper can hit people, Kasha, will you send me back to him?" Melia asked looking at me with a look in her eyes that told me she didn't want to go back at all. "No, but you have to tell me first, who is Mr. Smith?" I inquired of her.

"It's an old man with a bad temper, but he's very rich and a lot of people work for him." Melia replied.

"I see, but the couch is not a good place to sleep." I said with a smile, reaching out and picking her up.

Melia was six years old, but her body was so light that you could barely feel her weight in your arms, very skinny.

But even so, her skin was fair, and her mother had worked hard to take care of her.

I put Melia on the bed and let her sleep with me.

"Kasha, is it true that I can sleep in your bed?" She was as excited as if she had gotten an unbelievable treasure.

"Of course, not just today, but every day from now on." I said with a smile.

"Kasha, thank you." Melia laughed heartily.

While lying in bed, she was too excited to sleep.

"Kasha, will you always be there for me?" Melia asked.

"Yes, because I have no more family and no more friends, we will be each other's family from now on, so now, is there a little girl who wants to hear a story before bedtime?" I asked with a smile to Melia. Melia lay quietly beside me and listened to the story, that I had also heard from my father.
