Chapter Chapter Four

[Kin’s POV]

I wanted to let Julius rip apart the Ironclaw Alpha but it would violate several treaties and I had no time for that, the smell of blood was suffocating by the time we reached the door that held my baby. Callum put his hand on my shoulder for reassurance as I pushed open the basement door.

What I saw broke my heart almost completely. To see someone, look so helpless and in so much pain. Ra’ne looked up, a look of desperation in his ember colored eyes, his breathing ragged and forced. I could see the very life fading from his eyes. Julius whimpered as I could now start to sense Ra'ne's intense pain, our bond growing stronger with each passing second.

I ran to him quickly unchaining his wrists and taking his weight as Callum unhooked all the wires from his small malnourished body. Callum unchained his ankles and I scooped him into my arms gently. I could count his ribs and see the bones of his face under all the blood smeared over it. The clothes he had were nothing but thin pieces of cloth worn to nothing and ripped to shreds. I wept at the poor state he was in as I situated him against my chest and walked from the basement.

He whimpered softly but tried to nuzzle against me. “Shhh, baby boy. I’ve got you now, everything will be ok.” I crooned, kissing his forehead as I took him from the Ironclaw Packhouse for good. He was never going back to that place of hellish nightmares. I could hear his breathing stutter and fail a few times, making me run even faster back home to where I could get him much needed help. I needed to get to Arion and fast.

[Ra’ne’s POV]

I felt like I was floating in a dream. I could hear the sounds of people around me. They sounded angry and in a hurry for some reason. It was like there was something wrong. Was I dead? No, I was still in too much pain to be dead. If I was dead I wouldn't be in so much pain.

Where was I? I thought I had been hanging for punishment? If I had fallen asleep, I really would have died because Alpha Grissa had set the electrical charge up to the highest charge before he had left me the last time. I had seen it in his eyes, he was determined to kill me. Just like he had the others.

I felt myself surfacing to the conscious world my Wolf, Skie, tagging along for the ride. He had been so quiet while we had been beaten because he didn’t want to make it worse for me. He had helped to dull the pain for me from the whip but it wasn’t like he could do much else.

We had been beaten down for so long that we were too small to fight back or even try to fight for our lives. It was not something Skie liked to talk about but it was a reality we both faced together.

Finally, I was able to open my eyes, and the first thing I see is the most GEORGEOUS man I had ever seen in my entire life. Even Skie wagged his tail at the sight of this man. I took a ragged breath letting the man’s scent fill my lungs and the world spun in a thousand directions. His scent was so intoxicating, it was like honey and the deep forest. The most tantalizing scent I had ever smelled in my entire life and it made me whimper, needing to touch this man. Something about him made me feel safe, something I've never felt before.

At my small whimper the man looked down at me, his olive eyes filling with relief “Thank the Goddess.” he whispered as he leaned his head down to touch my hand to his forehead. I whimpered again not understanding what had happened as the man looked up at me, his olive eyes gentle as he held my hand still in his warm one. “Good morning, little one. I know this is all a bit disorienting for you but you have nothing to be scared of anymore.” he said, his deep voice so very mesmerizing to me. Somehow I believed him.

His face was chiseled and rugged with a 5oclock shadow. His dark chocolate brown hair was buzzed but it looked so soft and I wanted to touch it so badly. I wanted to run my fingers along the top of his head just to feel how his hair would feel against my fingertips. His olive eyes were set in a face that almost demanded obedience but commanded respect. It was so hot.

‘Ask him where we are Ra’ne.’ Skie pushed, his tiny voice pushing me to speak to this man.

I blushed slightly when Skie spoke to me so bluntly like that. He had always been so pushy, and it had gotten us into a lot of trouble whenever his temper had made him just take over and push people.

I looked up to the man because on this one Skie was at least a little right we needed to at least know what happened to us and where we were. The man was still looking at me his olive eyes still gentle, and patient. It was like he knew I was fighting with Skie and myself. I blushed even harder.

“W-w-where a-am I-I?” I stuttered out; my mostly unused voice filled with embarrassment.

“Well my sweet boy, you are in my bedroom to be more precise. However, to be wider scoped you are in the Packhouse of the BloodStar Wolves.” he replied truthfully.

I was stunned by his words. BloodStar Wolves. The last Ruling Pack that treasured their Omegas. I was frozen in shock for a moment but then I had a burning question. Actually two.

“How? Why?” I questioned softly my hand clutching my chest as I felt my heart pulling toward the man next to me holding my other hand tightly in his own giant one. I felt so small next to most everyone else but not him.

'He is our Mate, Ra'ne. He is supposed to keep us safe.' Skie whispered in my mind getting me to look up at this man again, just with new eyes.

“Sweet one, I was out on Patrol with my Packmates and my Wolf went crazy. He sensed your pain and he took me to you. I took you from that hell because you are my Mate. I have waited so long for you.” he said, his voice soft but filled with a truthful pain I could not quite understand, yet. Something I don't think I would ever truly understand.
