Chapter 6
Ella’s POV
Instead of wasting my time delivering some badass dialogues about making them pay the price for their wrongdoings, blah blah blah. I quickly jump to finish off the next rogue. The first two kills were easy as they were still trying to figure what’s going on.
Not that I am complaining or anything, but they are really dumb and slow for being the bad guys.
When I was dealing with the third rogue, I heard someone shifting. From my peripheral view, I see them attacking the other rogues.
I barely missed my neck being chomped off when the rogue shifts in mid-fight. Dodging his attack, I plunge my claw deep into his stomach and pull my hand upwards, slashing him from his belly to his chest.
As soon as he falls to the ground, I hold his head. Then placing my foot on his neck, I pull it with my full might and separat his head from his body.
By the time I am done with him, I turn around to find that the other wolf has finished the remaining of the two.
The wolf’s body starts to shake as he begins to shift. Looking away from him, I give him privacy as I try to judge the situation. My eyes land on severely injured werewolves, and my heart squeezes inside my chest just thinking about the pain they are going through.
There are nearly twelve wolves in this room, and each one of them is battered and bruised badly. Some of them almost look dead, while some have half shifted, unable to handle the pain.
There are several torture devices on the ground, some of them I have never seen in my life before. Small pair of arms wrap around my middle, causing me to tear my eyes away from the heart-wrenching scene.
Some tears slip from my eyes as I look at Tammy, who is tightly hugging me while crying softly. Placing a hand on her head, I try to comfort her while a burning sensation forms in the middle of my chest.
“Alpha.” I see Steven limping towards me, wearing one of the rogue’s pants. His bare upper body is covered in fresh scars. Some of them look severely infected.
I instantly realize he is the one who helped in killing these wolves.
Tammy stands beside me as she looks warily at Steven. But when he gives her a small friendly smile, she relaxes a bit.
“Did you find anything on what’s going on?” I ask, wiping all the emotions off my face.
“Not much, but I guess they are trying to build an army of wolves.” He slightly frowns when he shakes his head because of the wound near his neck, “They take the wolves who are not able to survive their torture, leaving the rest to go through the same torture the next day.”
“They sacrifice the weak ones to the so-called evil spirit, as their leader believes with every sacrifice his power will increase.” A guy who is leaning against the wall speaks. “Motherfucker is a sick bastard. He wants a create army of the strongest werewolves to rule over all the world.”
“He is Brody, and he is beta of the Red River pack.” Steven introduces him, “He was one of first few people who these rogues kidnaped.”
Agonizing scream snaps our attention back to the injured wolves, and without thinking about anything, I go to them and kneel in front of them.
Gradually, the burning sensation begins to increase. It is like a ball of warmth expanding from the center of my body and covering my entire body.
“No, Alpha.” Steven steps towards me; his eyes slightly widen in panic, realizing what I am about to do. My pack members are aware of the blessings my family has. They are also aware of the cost we pay whenever we use our powers.
Even though I have got the power of healing from mom, this doesn’t mean it comes without a price.
“I will be fine,” I reassure him without looking at him.
Placing my hand on the heart of the first wolves, I focus on the warmth and guide it towards my palm. Closing my eyes, I imagine the warmth traveling to his heart and healing all the wounds.
He shifts back into human form beneath my palm while sharp pain travels across my body.
Ignoring the pain, I move to the next wolf, again repeating the same thing. I can feel myself losing my strength, but I know I have to free them from this pain.
Lastly, I stand and turn to Steven with all my might, remembering even he needs my help.
“No, I will not allow you to heal me.” He adamantly shakes his head.
“You will not be of any use if you are hurt.” Swallowing the pain, which I am feeling, I hold his hand between mine.
Before he can protest, I begin healing him. By the time I heal his last wound, my entire body is littered with the same injuries that these wolves carried a few moments ago.
My legs lose balance, and I find myself falling due to exhaustion and pain.
“Ella.” Steven catches me before I can hit the ground, “Shit, are you okay?” He gently places me on the floor while holding me.
“Yeah, I am okay.” Swallowing, I clench my eyes, trying to fight off the pain, “I just need some time.” Exhaling from my mouth, I blink rapidly as my eyes prick with tears.
Since healing is not my blessing, so whenever I heal someone, I have to transfer their injuries to my body. So, technically, I don’t heal the wounds; I alleviate their pain by collecting their injuries on myself.
So now, when I have healed these people, I am feeling their every pain. Not only the physical but even the emotional pain that they have gone through.
Silent sobs escape from my mouth, and my heart becomes heavy with sadness reliving everyone’s pain and hopelessness.
Blaze howls inside my head, feeling hurt and angry at the same time. Like me, she feels the pain these people have experienced while the intense feeling of revenge is also brewing inside us.
The fury which I am feeling intensifies when I sense a new presence nearing us. There is something maleficent about this person which is stirring something deep inside me. A part of me that I have never let overtake me is demanding to be out.
My wounds start to close as the feeling of anger washes over me while my wolf growls vivaciously inside me.
“Everyone of you is free to go into hiding until it is safe to come out because I can feel the enemies are approaching.” Standing up, I look at everyone.“I promise I will not let any harm come to you.”
My wolf is getting anxious with every passing moment. She is demanding blood because we have felt what horrible things these rogues have done to them.
“We are not hiding.” One of the guys I have healed steps forward, “We all are warriors, we will die fighting, but we will not surrender or hide.”
“We will follow your command, Alpha.” Steven bows his head while looking at me.
My heart swells with pride as everyone nods their head in agreement.
These people have just met me, and they are blindly trusting me to lead them. At this moment, there is no doubt in my mind that the decision which I have taken rashly was wrong in any way.
The feeling of obligation which I have earlier felt makes sense now. Even though I hadn’t met these people before, and I am not their Alpha still, I will do everything in my power to protect them. Now, when they have put their trust in me, I will not let them down.
“We will fight to kill.” Looking everyone in their eye, I declare, “We will finish every one of those who made us and our loved ones suffer.” My voice filled with determination and a promise.
