Alpha Bond

Chapter 29

Ella’s POV

Pushing back the sickening feeling inside me, I walk in the direction of Oliver’s room to check on the poor guy. How much I have understood him in these past few days, I can guarantee he must be blaming himself for whatever happened.

He must be trying to find a way to punish himself for kissing Elena. Although I wouldn’t even call that a kiss and neither have they actually shared a kiss, so he shouldn’t have to feel guilty. So to put him out of his misery, I decided to meet him.

I have just turned around the corner when I come face to face with Tammy.

“Ella!” Tammy’s voice brings a smile to my face, which widens the moment she wraps her arms around me. “I am so happy to see you.”

“I am so happy to see you too.” Returning her hug, I smile at her.

“You forgot me?” Crossing her arms over her chest, she frowns.

“How can I forget you?” I pull her cheeks, feeling happy to see the shine in her eyes, unlike the last time when her eyes were filled with fear. “You were my partner to beat that bad guy, so how could I have forgotten my partner?”

“Nobody believed me when I told them that I was a good help.” She pouts, “But I don’t care because soon everyone will find out the truth, and then they will be sorry.”

The churning feeling inside me intensifies, which I have been trying to ignore, but I conceal my uneasiness.

“What are you doing here?” Elena’s sharp voice rings from the end of the corridor as she walks towards me.

“I decided to go on a walk to refresh my mind.” Holding her gaze, I try to read the reason behind her agitation.

“I don’t like her, and she is mean.” Abruptly, Tammy speaks while glaring at Elena. The hate in her tone surprises me.

“Hey! That’s not nice.” I admonish her.

“I am sorry,” Tammy mumbles, a half-hearted apology looking at her feet.

“That’s fine.” Elena shrugs, “Because I am not competing to get the title of the most likable person.”

“But if next time if you decide to come in between my sister and me.” Elena bends down to Tammy’s level to look into her eyes, “Then you will actually find out how mean and bad this Elena can be. But we don’t want to find that out, right? So now be a good girl that you are trying to be and go play with your dolls.”

Tammy looks frightened, and then without saying anything, she runs in the opposite direction. Elena has a possessive nature, so her behavior doesn’t surprise me.

Once she considers someone part of her circle, she becomes possessive about them. Not crazy possessive, but more like protective possessive, if that makes sense.

“Tiny nuisance.” Elena straightens up while rolling her eyes.

“Turd came looking for you and asked me to tell you to go to meet Handsome.” Elena brushes her fingers through her hair, and then taking one strand, she inspects it, “Even though I was thoroughly enjoying his distress but then for a change, I decided to be a better person, so I assured him that I will convey his message to you.”

“Something isn’t right.” Taking a deep breath, I frown because I can feel it in my bones.

I always listen to my intuition because I believe unintentionally, we can sense the danger lurking around us. But we often overlook our feelings because we want to live in denial and wait for something actually to happen. But I am not that someone. If I feel danger, then I need to be prepared to face it head-on.

And currently, everything in me is saying not to let my guard down.

“Nothing was ever right here.” Elena nods her head, and a thoughtful expression appears on her face, “Don’t believe what you see, and don’t trust anyone. Not even me.” She looks directly into my eyes. The warning in her words is not something I would take lightly.

“Do we know who are we against?” I ask because I know she can sense something which I am missing.

“Whom? I don’t know.” She shrugs casually. “But it is something like I haven’t felt before, and it is getting stronger. And we do not like it. No one should be stronger than us.” Abruptly, her eyes turn black as she pouts.

I focus on taking some of her darkness because I can feel it is increasing. Her anger, her pain, her worry, everything fuels her other side. Mom told me it is her coping mechanism, but sometimes she needs support to handle this because these emotions come with powers that can be destructive.

“Please, don’t.” Looking at me, she shakes her head, slightly annoyed with what I am trying to do, “I need it.”

“If everything becomes difficult, you will come to me.” Grabbing her shoulders, I say firmly, “I don’t care even if the entire world is burning and need saving, but whenever you need me, you will come to me.”

Elena always tries to fight everything alone and never lets anyone help her. It really annoys Blaze and me because sometimes it seems like she doesn’t trust us enough to share her difficulties.

“Do your thing, Ella.” She kisses my cheek and smiles, “I will do mine.”

“We need to show them we are stronger than them.” She smirks wickedly, "They are joining forces, so even we have to strengthen our side."

"Elena, do you know something which I don't know." I give her a pointed look, waiting for her to tell me what she has found out.

"It is not something which you need to worry about, so don't focus on trivial matters because for that, you have me." She innocently raises her eyebrows but mischievousness twinkles in her eyes.

“Now go and find your Guardian charming while I try to look for something to kill my boredom.” She starts walking backward and waves her hand, “Love you, Ellie.”

Please don’t do anything stupid.

I have a feeling that everything is about to be changed. And I just do hope it is the change that we need, not the change that will change us.

There is chaos inside me. No matter how much I try to calm myself, nothing is working. Blaze has been growling in my mind, which is making me anxious as well.

She is restless and just wants her mate. I can understand her emotions, and even I want to be with Oliver because it is clear that he needs me. All of these feelings of mine are connected to him.

And I can tell I am only feeling part of what Oliver is going through.

The moment I reach his door, I feel a powerful pull, and at the same time, I feel like I have reached a barrier that is forbidding me from moving forward.

Narrowing my eyes, I look at the door in frustration because I am definitely not in a mood for this. I am annoyed and anxious, and I need to be with Oliver.

When I try to open the door again, I am thrown back into the wall with a force that knocks out my breath. I feel dizzy with the impact causing me to slide down the wall while holding my head in my hands.

Blaze goes extremely silent, and for a moment, I can't even sense her presence.

"Ella!" Oliver roars from inside the room. His voice is filled with anguish and anger, which is enough for me to forget my pain.

Gritting my teeth, I focus on channeling my powers, and even Blaze lends her strength to me. I can sense the forcefield in front of his room, but what surprises me is the golden warmth of energies emitting from this forcefield.

"Is it Oliver's powers?" I ask Blaze while staring at the invisible barrier.

"Yes, they are trying to ward them off and for now even blocking us." Blaze answers as even she study the forcefield through my eyes. "He is trying to fight them off, but they are stronger than before." She adds after a moment.

I recall Elena's words of whoever they are; they are getting stronger.

I don't know how to pass through this barrier, but all I know is that I need to be do it before it gets too late.

These are Oliver's powers, so they will not hurt me. I need to trust on them and let them sense our mate bond.

Inhaling a deep breath, I let my guard down and reach out to my mate bond, allowing the connection to become stronger between us. Instantly, I could see the shift in his powers and felt the golden warmth reaching out to me.

Tentatively, I let them surround me and feel a tingling warmth radiating from them. The power retracts back and again covers the entrance, but I know this time I would be able to pass this barrier. And I am proven right when I am able to touch the door.

Opening the door, I step inside, but I still in my steps when I hear a vicious growl.
