Alpha Bond

Chapter 28

Ella’s POV

Oh Goddess, no!

He can’t shift now.

He has gotten all the high-ranking guardians’ attention. The way he is behaving is raising suspicions. I can sense something is happening with Oliver. His energies are suddenly looking dull, almost nonexistent, while the other powers that are surrounding him begin to strengthen.

A sharp pain ran across my neck, making me inhale through my teeth.

Turning my face back to the fight, anger flares inside me when I see blood dripping from Elena’s neck. A growl rumbles from me, ready to finish Alto for hurting her, but noticing his limp body on the ground, I regain some of my control.

Alto’s wolf jaw is completely broken, and it seems like someone has turned his jaws in opposite directions. If he hadn’t just tried to kill my sister, I would have felt slightly bad for him. But then he deserves this.

Elena’s face has the same calmness which, somewhere, terrifies me. But her eyes are still of her normal grey shade, which means that she is in control.

My eyes again move to her neck as my heart clenches painfully, looking at the huge gash running from her neck towards her collarbone. My hands twitch, wanting to reach out to her and heal her.

She snaps her head in my direction and shakes her head, realizing what I am thinking. There is no trace of pain on her face while her eyes are blazing in anger.

Clenching her jaws, she turns to Alto’s wolf and grabs him by his scruff. Picking him up, she slams his head back on the ground and continues to slam it until he shifts back.

Carelessly throwing him on the ground, she walks over his body and goes to Oliver. And the next thing which happens literally blows my mind, and at the same time, it leaves me speechless.

Walking up to him, she wraps her arms around his neck and presses her lips against his. I think more than me, Oliver has gone into shock because his trembling stops, and he goes completely still.

"What is she doing?" Blaze sounds as confused as me. ”Do we have to share a mate?"

I internally cringe at that, but let’s wait and see what is going on.

“It’s okay, Emerson.” Elena smiles at him, “I am fine.” She grabs his hand while Oliver still seems shocked. But gradually, his shock wears off as a different emotion replaces it.

He slightly looks dazed, and the energies around him begin to diffuse.

“Are you both mates?” Burton asks, looking at them. And just like that, everything clicks into my mind.

This girl’s mind is explosive. I love her and the way her mind works. She just broke whatever pied piper shit was happening with Oliver in front of everyone, and no one can even doubt her as she perfectly played the mate bond card.

I am having a difficult time keeping my face straight while Blaze is laughing, finding all this incredibly amusing.

“Yes.” Elena nods her head, “But since we both aren’t sure we wanted this mate bond, we decided to keep this secret until we figure everything out. But his wolf reacted when he saw his mate being attacked, so I had to comfort him.” She shrugs as if it is not a big deal.

There is alertness in her eyes even though she pulled off a nonchalant act.

Imagining a protective circle around her, I form a protection around Elena. I want to form a protective circle around Oliver as well, but then it would alert whoever is after Oliver, and I don’t want that. So, for now, I will just protect Elena, and Oliver can look out for himself.

“You should have informed us.” Burton glances at Oliver.

“I don’t think so, Guardian Burton.” Elena quickly steps in, “This is our personal matter, and I would appreciate you should not try to involve in it because I am not someone who allows anyone to interfere in my personal life. Since we both are not really thrilled to find out this mate bond, and probably have some serious decisions to make, so we would appreciate some privacy.”

“Now, since I have won. So from now, everyone is allowed to train without any discrimination.” She looks at the females, then back to Burton. “Announce it along with my victory, Sir.” The way she adds that sir in the end almost sounds hilarious. It almost seems like she is insulting him respectfully, which she probably is.

But what is impressive is that despite being severely injured, she is holding her up pretty well without showing any signs of discomfort or pain.

“Since Elena Whitmore has defeated Guardian Alto in the fight, everyone will be trained in the same manner from now, and even females will be trained as the full guardians.” He announces, looking not very pleased with the outcome of the fight.

“Stop.” I groan, feeling a little sick, “I am sure it was not that bad to kiss him.” I grabbed her hair away from her face as she continued to throw up while I silently gagged.

“Shut up, Ella!” She gags, and then another round of throwing up starts.

The moment we have entered the room, she headed straight to the bathroom and started throwing up.

I have even joked about she got pregnant just by kissing Oliver, and she didn’t find it funny as much as it sounded to me.

“It was disgusting.” She rinses her mouth with cold water and then brushes her teeth.

“I almost felt like I kissed Noah!” She shivers with disgust as a repulsive expression appears on my face as well.

Noah is Uncle James’ son and our cousin. So after thinking about kissing him, I can totally understand Elena’s feeling.

All the humor leaves my body when Elena groans in pain when she removes her t-shirt. The gash on her neck looks nasty and still hasn’t properly healed. That bastard almost chewed her collar bone.

Removing the rest of her clothes, she gets into the shower, and soon bathroom fills with steam as she only loves to shower with hot water.

I grab some pajamas for her as I wait for her to come out so I can help her.

Blinking rapidly, I try to keep my eyes clear of tears as watching her hurt is shattering my heart. I can’t bear to see my sisters in pain. It almost feels like I am the one who is suffering.

Pressing the heels of my palms to my eyes, I wipe my tears as I hear her stepping out of the shower.

It is all my fault that she is hurt. I failed to protect her.

“Stop, Ella.” She wraps the towel around her body, “Stop blaming yourself. People do get hurt during fights, and it is not a big deal.”

“You are hurt, and it is my fault.” Shaking my head, I slip down from the marble top counter of the sink and place my hand on her shoulder, “I should have protected you.”

“Breaking news.” She whispers dramatically, forcing me to roll my eyes, “You are not the protector.”

“Ella is the leader.” Stepping back, she slightly bows her head with her signature smirk, “Elena is the protector.” Bringing her palm in front of her, she creates a ball of fire in the middle of her hand.

“You fulfill your responsibility to lead people in the right direction, and I will fulfill my responsibility to protect you by taking care of everyone who comes in your path.” She smiles and winks at me.

Even though there is lightness in her tone, the seriousness in her words is not something that is hidden. She means each and every word, and I don’t have any doubt she will burn the entire world to keep her family safe.

“Sometimes, you make me feel so undeserving.” Sighing, I run my hand through my hair, “I feel I am not capable of the Alpha position... It should be you who deserves to take over after dad. Because without you, I don’t think I can manage anything, and Alpha needs to be strong.”

“Who says you are not strong?” She shrugs and towel drys her hair with the small towel, “You are strong, Ella. The only difference is that we are stronger when we are together. And that’s how it will always be.”

“Mom and dad’s strength is divided into three of us. You, me, and Thea.” Placing her hand over her injury, she closes her eyes to heal it. Even after a few moments, nothing much happens; only some of the scratches heal. “Alone, we are nothing because we are incomplete, but together we are the strongest so are our powers.” She grabs my hand and again places her other hand over her wound, and this time it instantly heals.

It is so amazing the way she puts my insecurities to rest. Whenever I question myself, she comes with an answer that makes me trust myself again.

“We complete each other.” She untangles her hair and silently admires herself in the mirror, “I strengthen you when you lack, and you are the light to my darkness. Just like Thea is our sanity when we lose ours.”

“Am I right, or am I right?” She raises her eyebrows while a genuine smile graces her lips.

Nodding my head, I pull her into a hug. I let my feelings of gratitude reach out to her through our bond. I feel grateful to have her and Thea because I know even if the whole world turns against me, they are the ones who will always be with me.
