All it Takes is Love

Chapter 4

Byron watched the girl in his arms sleep and felt true happiness for the first time in a long time. He felt as if he had been just going through the motions for a long time, but now he was truly happy.

There came a tapping at the door, and glancing over, he softly called, “Yes?”

His mother opened the door then stood in the doorway, giving him a puzzled look as she stated, “Byron, supper is ready. Why are you in here instead of in your room? Is that a girl?”

Byron chuckled softly but said nothing.

The door opened wider as his mom stepped inside the room. “It is a girl.”

“Yes, Mom, it’s a girl,” Byron agreed. “Didn’t dad tell you about the girl I found?”

Mom frowned. “Um… yes, well, I think so. Maybe?”

Byron laughed. “Oh, Mom, you are so funny. I found her caught in a hunter’s trap and freed her this morning. Dad told me to watch over her.”

“Okay. Oh, I remember now. Your dad mentioned something about her needing to find her mate so she could shift. He also mentioned something about her wolf being dormant,” Mom said with a smile when she finally remembered.

“She’ll shift tomorrow,” Byron said.

“What? How do you know that?” Dad asked as he came up and stood behind Byron’s mom.

“Because she’s my mate,” Byron answered.

Lynn stirred against him and whimpered a bit before opening her eyes. “Byron?”

“Right here, sugar,” Byron whispered as he ran his hand down her back to soothe her.

Lynn blinked at him. “Hi.”

“Hi.”

“Um… I’m ravenous,” Lynn whispered just as her stomach growled.

“It’s a good thing my mom has dinner ready then, huh?”

“Yeah,” Lynn agreed.

Byron sat up, and glancing over at his parents, he mentioned, “The two of us will be down in a little bit.”

Lynn turned as she realized they weren’t alone. “Oh, hello. I’m Lynn.”

Mom smiled, saying, “I’m Byron’s mother, Angelica. We’ll talk more when you get downstairs.”

Then she and dad both walked out, and Byron let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. He was glad that Lynn meeting his mother had gone well.

Lynn giggled, and he looked down at her as she said, “The look on your face. You looked as though you thought they would throw you out of the house or something.”

Rolling over, Byron leaned over her and kissed her.

Lynn moaned as their bodies brushed, and friction was created.

Tingles ran rampant through his body, and he felt his cock harden at the brush of her thigh against it. Pulling back and breathing hard, he took in her features. She had a softly rounded face framed by straight, pale blonde, fly-away hair—eyes of the deepest blue and lips now swollen with kisses.

He wanted to kiss her again. So, leaning in once more, he gave in to the urge and kissed her once more. When he left her mouth this time, he moved down along her jaw and then her neck. He nipped and lightly sucked along with the kisses.

Lynn moaned and whimpered along with other little noises that drove him crazy with lust and need. Her hands grabbed at his back even as her nails dug in. Her hips pushed up, trying to find relief for the passion rising inside. She was making it harder and harder to stay on planet earth when all he wanted to do now was fly to the moon with her.

“Ah, Byron. Oh,” Lynn whimpered as he moved his leg between hers and rubbed. “I feel like I’m on fire, and only you can put it out. I- I’ve never felt like this before, Byron.”

“Do you like the way it feels?” Byron asked in a passion-filled voice.

“Oh yes,” she agreed with a moan. Then she gazed at Byron, her eyes drooping to half mass as she licked her lips. “I want more, Byron. I want it all.”

“So do I, sugar, so do I. However, it would help if you ate so you’d heal,” Byron told her before trying to get up.

Lynn clung to him and whispered, “Byron, I feel like this is all a dream, and I’m going to wake up and find myself laying in my bed at home.”

“I know you do because I feel as if I’m dreaming too,” he whispered back. “But we aren’t, sugar, we’re going to have our happy-ever-after, I promise.”

Then, picking her up, he carried her downstairs to the dining room, where dinner was set out for them.

“It’s about time you showed up, son. I was beginning to wonder if you were going to make the poor girl fast tonight,” Mom teased.

Byron felt his face heat with a blush. “Yeah, Mom, that was my plan, but the growling bear in her belly would have kept me awake all night.”

Lynn giggled as Byron sat her down in a chair. Then he seated himself before digging into the plate full of food on the table in front of him.

“So, Lynn, my husband tells me you’re from the Simmion Pack,” Mom said.

“Yes, ma’am, but I don’t ever want to go back there,” Lynn informed her.

Byron felt her shudder against him, and he squeezed her thigh under the table. “Don’t worry, sugar, and you won’t have to.”

“How old are you?” Mom asked next.

“Nineteen.”

Mom nodded. “Byron is only twenty-four, so that’s not so bad. I’m guessing you’ve finished school.”

“Yes.”

“Any college plans?” Mom inquired.

“Mom, stop giving her the third degree,” Byron grumbled.

“Byron, how will I learn anything about her if I don’t ask?” Mom asked with a look of exasperation.

“It’s alright, Byron, I don’t mind answering her,” Lynn softy said as she lay her hand on his arm.

Byron huffed a bit as he glanced at her out of the corner of his eye. “I just don’t want you to feel like she’s picking for something to hold against you.”

“I don’t,” Lynn softly said.

“Okay then, if you’re okay with it, then some am I, sugar,” Bryon told her.

Lynn kissed his cheek and went back to answering his mom’s questions.
