After Grandma Died I Gave Up Loving Him by Cynthia Young

Chapter 4

chapter 4

Sheldon was very unhappy with my sarcasm, but also relieved. “Okay, Cynthia, don’t be jealous. I’ll make it up to you later, but now, we…”

He does this every damn time.

He knew very well that whenever he was around Lindsay, I would be distraught for a long time.

But he never changes.

It will just be like now – a bunch of explanations avoiding the important points.

He knows I have a good temper and am easily coaxed.

Worst case, he just gives me the cold shoulder.

Anyway, I won’t be able to bear it and will approach him in end.

That’s right.

Back then, I was afraid that if I threw tantrums or threatened self–harm to get my way, I would lose him.

He knew that if I took the initiative to approach him, it would mean I was just sweeping their situation under the rug. What Sheldon doesn’t know is that right now, watching his mouth open and close, I just feel irritated.

I looked at him in annoyance, “Shut up!”

“It’s fine for you to  Lindsay and sleep with her. It has nothing to do with me anymore.”

“Take your woman and get out of here!“”

Sheldon probably saw the disgust in my eyes and was stunned.

He probably never thought I could have such a bad temper sometimes.

Not knowing what he was thinking, he suddenly lowered his posture and asked, “Cynthia, how is your grandma?” I nodded. “It’s fine.”

She had already gone ahead to the underworld to await me.

My attitude made his brows relax slightly. “Well, I said she is blessed with a long life and will definitely survive. Let her hold on for a few more days, and then I will take you to pick her up in a private plane.”

“Now, stop making trouble.”

Blessed with a long life? What sarcasm!

He saw that I didn’t respond, he said, “Huh?”

I said calmly, “Can you take your leave now?”

His face darkened instantly, and he put his arm around Lindsay’s shoulder and walked away.

“Cynthia, let’s see how long you can keep up this charade.”

I breathed a sigh of relief and my back slid down the wall behind me.

The emotional upheaval had drained all my energy.

I just can’t understand the look in his eyes before he left.

I suddenly remembered when I first met him.

At that time, I was being interviewed for the role of an actor’s assistant.

Sheldon has a bad temper – before I became his assistant, he had scolded and driven away over a dozen assistants. And I was assigned to him just because I looked easy to handle.

Over time, I made things much easier for him because I was perceptive and efficient.

Things became easier for him, so naturally I didn’t have to endure his scolding.

He even praised me, “Cynthia, you are much more useful than those good–for–nothings.”

But in fact, I worked so hard just because I didn’t want to lose a job that paid over 10,000 dollars a month.

Until one time, when Sheldon finished filming and was having a farewell banquet with the crew, I was molested by a drunk producér.

He protected me with a stern face, picked up food from the table and smashed it on the man’s face.

The result was that the film was withdrawn and he had to pay a high termination fee.

But he didn’t seem to care.

Instead, he turned around and apologized to my frightened self, “Cynthia, I’m sorry, I didn’t protect you well.” My heart was beating fast at that moment.

Tears followed.

That was the first time someone was willing to protect me when I was bullied.

I don’t have any parents. My grandma picked me up and raised me.

However, this world never treats the weak well.

As long as you are weak, there will always be people bullying you.

Even though my grandma was very good to me, I was always called a bastard.
