Chapter Divorcing 375
Chapter 375 Encounter
Chloe was so shocked that she couldn't believe her ears.
"You know my dad values profit above all else. If I marry Richard, the Jenkins family will back up the Parker family, and my family will definitely be flourishing." "But Richard could be your dad at his age!" Chloe retorted.
Candy agreed, "Exactly. My dad doesn't treat me like a human being at all, or I wouldn't live at the Glory Villa alone and wouldn't go back."
Chloe had some mixed feelings.
When they were in college, Chloe had met Candy's father.
In Chloe's impression, Candy's father was a serious and traditional middle-aged man who was not close to Candy, but he would give her a lot of living expenses.
Whatever happened to Candy, he would always step in and solve it. However, the marriage he arranged for Candy was unbelievable.
Chloe had heard the rumor at the press conference of the Opal Group earlier that Richard had recently planned to remarry, and that the girl was about twenty years younger than him. Turned out it was Candy.
"Candy, to be honest, I don't think it's sensible for you to get married to someone casually."
Even if her family forced her to get married, she couldn't just find a man out there to marry who she'd only known for a few days.
"Of course I know it. I admit I did get close to William at first because I thought he would be suitable for marriage, but I've met him a few times and realized he is indeed quite nice!"
Chloe didn't say anything else, just thinking that Candy seriously had to think twice about this matter.
However, now that William had left, both Candy and Chloe naturally lost interest in continuing to visit the show.
As they were heading towards the front door, they saw Michael walking towards the front door in his understated suit.
This show was organized by the Shawn family, so it was just normal for Michael to be there.
Too bad Chloe bumped into him.
Michael was accompanied by a few people, including Admas and Jennifer.
As soon as Admas saw Chloe, he immediately smiled, "Chloe, you're here!"
Chloe now knew she couldn't leave even if she wanted to.
She glanced at Candy and told her to leave first.
Candy gave Chloe a look signaling a blessing for her.
Michael didn't expect Chloe to come to this show with Candy when she went out today.
It made Michael feel better to see her here.
Chloe followed Admas towards the VIP lounge of the show.
When she sat down, Admas asked, "Chloe, have you been feeling better lately?"
Chloe was stunned, and she realized what he meant by that only when she saw Michael's gaze.
"I feel much better, Admas."
Jennifer was across from her holding a freshly brewed coffee. "Now that you're pretty much better, isn't it time to put pregnancy back on the agenda?"
These people from the Shawn family would talk about pregnancy when they met.
Michael said gently, "Aunt Jennifer, there's no hurry about the baby."
"I'm not in a hurry, but your grandfather is getting older, and he just wants to see his great-grandchildren sooner rather than later."
Jennifer's tone was calm. She was trying to apply pressure on Michael and Chloe with Admas.
"It's been three years. You didn't disclose Chloe's identity before, and now everyone in town knows that you have been married since three years ago, but you've never had any children, so it's inevitable that people will spread rumors."
In fact, Chloe felt that sometimes people from richer and more powerful family backgrounds cared more about having kids.
"Cathy's been out of school for over a year now, and she's old enough to get married. Is she in a relationship? She should hurry up, or she'll be in pain having children when she gets older."
Cathy had been sitting quietly on the side, holding back from taunting Chloe because of Admas' presence.
But she didn't expect Chloe to take the initiative to draw the battle towards her today.
"I'm in no hurry. People are talking about you, but why are you mentioning me?"
Victoria got upset at Chloe's words.
"Cathy is still young. She's just graduated, it's the right time to start her career, so it's too early to talk about marriage."
"Well, Victoria, you're right." Chloe smiled and nodded without making any retort.
Cathy was only two or three years younger than her.
What Victoria was saying now was a contradiction of what Jennifer had just said.
They weren't even unified, as they were attacking each other.
Victoria might have realized she hadn't said it quite right earlier, so she turned to glance at Jennifer, who did look annoyed.
"I know a friend who specializes in this. Why don't you take the time to go to the hospital and figure it out? Everyone will feel a little more relieved if you do it!"
Ben's low voice came through, implying that there was something physically wrong with one of Michael and Chloe.
If they went for a physical examination, Chloe's pregnancy would definitely be revealed.
