Chapter Divorcing 374
Chapter 374 The Second Wife
Candy nodded immediately. "Right. If you don't believe me, you can ask Chloe. She can testify for me!"
Chloe was suddenly cued, and she could only smile awkwardly.
"Candy did take relationships quite seriously. She never started a relationship casually, and she did it all for marriage."
Candy nodded. "I've always thought I should be serious about relationships. I'm probably too stupid for that, so I get cheated on all the time."
Chloe was speechless.
"Chloe knew I was hurt for a long time over a relationship before that."
"Right, she was so upset that she cried for weeks. That man cheated her on her money and her affections, and he was just fooling around with her, but she was innocent enough to take it seriously." Candy smiled awkwardly, "Mr. Clark, you don't think I'm stupid, do you?"
"How could I? There aren't many kind people these days."
Chloe felt that it would be against her conscience if she stayed any longer, and she was afraid that Candy would ask her to help with the lie again.
So Chloe was going to lie that she had to go to the restroom and just run away.
She had just come out of that hall and walked for a moment before bumping into James.
She raised her eyebrows. "Mr. Dale, are you interested in cooking?"
James pursed his lips. "I'm just here with my friend."
Chloe saw Wesley not far behind him.
"Are you and Wesley close?"
James and Richard seemed to be on good terms when they were at the press conference for the Opal Group earlier.
"Kind of, we're all friends."
Chloe was obviously not satisfied with his explanation, but she curled her lips and nodded without asking any more questions.
"Did you come with Michael?"
Chloe shook her head. "I'm also here with a friend."
At that moment, Wesley finished talking to the person next to him, and he walked over towards James. "Ms. Nelson, what a coincidence!"
Chloe nodded slightly with a smile on her face. "Mr. Jenkins."
James was going to take Wesley up to the second floor, and before he left, he looked at Chloe and said, "Smith said he had something to discuss with you, and you'll be at the Bright Moon International on time on Monday."
Chloe was stunned slightly, thinking, "What does Smith want with me?"
Wesley and James went up the revolving staircase. The next second, Candy appeared at Chloe's side. "Chloe, why did it take you so long to go to the restroom?"
Candy followed Chloe's gaze to the stairs.
She suddenly saw a man and immediately dragged Chloe around behind a pillar on the other side as if she was hiding from someone.
"Candy, leave me alone. I can't lie against my conscience."
If Candy didn't experience many relationships, there wouldn't be many experienced people in the world.
"Alright, he has left. I won't let you lie anymore."
When she said so, Candy's eyes showed a hint of loss.
"Why did he leave?"
Hadn't he only been here an hour or so?
"He's so busy, and he has to run the whole restaurant, so it's inevitable for him to have an urgent emergency."
Candy was generous and didn't get angry at all.
"Candy, tell me the truth. Are you playing around or being serious about William?"
Candy felt helpless. "Of course I'm serious. My dad had been urging me to find someone to get married for a long time, and he even told me that if I didn't have anyone to choose from, he'd arrange for me to go on a blind date, so could I be unserious?"
Chloe was surprised and thought, "So she was serious about it because her family is pushing her to get married, right?"
"Was your dad going to set a blind date for you? Who would that be?"
Candy was so annoyed at the mention of it, and she took Chloe's hand and took her to sit in a lounge chair on the outdoor balcony.
"You'd never guess it if I told you. My dad is crazy enough to make me marry into the Jenkins family!"
Chloe was stunned, thinking, "But isn't it Wesley's family?"
"Are you going to marry Wesley?"
Candy thought for a moment. "I wish it would be Wesley, but my dad asked me to marry Richard as his second wife!"
"What?"
