Chapter Divorcing 361
Chapter 361 It's Only about Work
Ethan followed her in, saying, "Mrs. Shawn, this is something Mr. Shawn asked me to give you. He said he'd be here soon."
Chloe nodded and took it. She watched Ethan leave before she opened it.
Inside was a pearl necklace and two earrings.
The pearls were very round, and it was obvious that they were of excellent quality.
The necklace and earrings went well with her outfit today.
Chloe put them on in front of the mirror. She was admiring them when Michael returned.
He wore a dark green suit today. To match her, he even had cufflinks made of pearls.
It seemed like he had chosen them carefully.
Chloe wanted to laugh and thought, "It's only for the sake of the project that he will show his love to me in front of outsiders. However, I don't care about it at all now. This set of jewelry isn't cheap and should be worth a million dollars or so."
The Opal Group opted for an open-air lawn for the press conference.
A cool evening breeze blew through, dispersing the heat.
The lights dimmed, and the vibe there was chill.
Chloe entered, holding Michael's arm. She saw James standing under a locust tree as soon as she entered.
He wore formal attire, and that suit gave him a hint of wildness with his standard stocky build.
And he did fit in well with that style.
James saw Chloe and walked towards her.
"Mr. Shawn, may I borrow your female companion for twenty minutes?"
Michael stared at James, his gaze serious. "What if I say no?"
"She is an independent person. Mr. Shawn, your refusal doesn't seem to work. It's up to Ms. Nelson."
"So what did you just ask me for?"
James showed a playful smile. "For teasing you."
Chloe glanced at Michael. Sure enough, Michael's expression was quite gloomy.
Then she let go of his hand and walked towards James.
"Chloe!"
Michael shouted out, finding it hard to believe that she just walked to another man like that.
"Oh, won't you be more sensible? I'm with him for work. There's nothing between us."
With that, Chloe smiled brightly and patted Michael's shoulder for dust that wasn't even there.
Her answer was the same one he had given her when he had stayed with Lucy.
She was getting her revenge now.
Chloe still remembered all that had gone before. She would get her revenge once she got the chance.
Michael stood angry and aggravated, watching Chloe and James walk away.
Following James, Chloe asked him, "Has the chairman of the Opal Group arrived?"
"Yes. He's in the room. I'm taking you to him now."
Chloe had known about the Opal Group but had never met its chairman.
Over the past few years, these businessmen had kept a low profile and no longer participated in interviews as often as they used to.
Now, they rarely showed up and would only go on interviews and programs if they had to.
A normal person who wanted to meet someone like them might not get the chance to do so in their lifetime.
Crossing the lawn, the two of them entered the villa at the back and followed the servants inside up the stairs. They turned several more corners before finally stopping in front of a room.
The carved double doors stood in front of Chloe. As she glanced at the handles, she wondered if they were gold-plated.
"They're not gold-plated, but pure gold," James said so as if he knew what was on her mind.
The maid then opened the door. Chloe followed James in before she saw the man standing with his back to them.
"Mr. Jenkins, I've brought you the person you asked for."
Hearing that, Chloe was somewhat puzzled.
