Chapter Divorcing 359
Chapter 359 Stand by Chloe's Side
Felix pointed at Lucy with a displeased look.
He didn't like this girl at first sight.
Felix thought, "If my son really sold the house for her, I would disagree."
Owen said, "Dad, Lucy's family is in trouble. That money can come back. I can still buy the house back then!"
Chloe shook her head beside him.
She thought, "Is Owen stupid or naive?
Villas in the north of the city have always been popular. Plus, the price is low now, so no one will sell it once they have a chance to purchase it.
By the time he wants to buy it back, the price will have multiplied several times."
"You rebellious son! That was given to you by your grandmother before she died. You promised in front of your grandmother that you would guard that house. Now you've done this. Do you still have your grandmother in your heart?"
Owen was also a little embarrassed.
That house had been bought with his money and his grandmother's pension.
He thought, "I did say I would guard it. But it's not that I don't care about my grandmother now. I just use it temporarily for emergencies."
"Dad, I said I'd buy it back."
Felix pointed at him angrily. "Tell me exactly what you did with the money."
He thought, "Even if Owen did it for this woman, there has to be a reason!"
"I've already used it. There's no reason!"
Owen was obviously reluctant to talk about it.
He had gone to sell the house and completely forgot that there would be a text message to his parents.
If he'd known, he'd have unbundled their cell phone numbers first.
He hadn't gone to his friends or his parents because he didn't want them to know about it to look down on him.
Seeing that things were getting a little out of hand, Lucy took a step forward and softly said, "It's my fault. Owen sold the house to help me pay back the money. I owe Chloe that money." Chloe didn't resist rolling her eyes at Lucy's mention of her.
Lucy tearfully turned her head to look at Chloe. "Chloe, I really didn't realize that house was that important to Owen. You just said the house might be gone soon. So can you give us our money back and I'll find another way to pay you back afterward?"
"You're not sick, are you?" Chloe didn't hold back again.
She thought, "I finally got my money back, and Lucy wanted me to take it out before the day was over.
Am I crazy, or is Lucy crazy?"
Seeing her talking harshly, Lucy burst into tears. "Michael, please. I'm begging you. I don't want to make things that difficult for Owen. Can you let Chloe help us buy the house first?" Michael frowned tightly, thinking things were ridiculous today.
"No."
He refused without hesitation and chose to stand by Chloe's side.
It surprised Chloe a little.
Chloe had been all ready to hear him tell her to be generous and give the money back first.
She even thought of a retort, and none of it was used.
Lucy, of course, was stunned.
"That IOU was well thought out by you when it was written at the time. You were supposed to pay it back. As for your current dispute, it has nothing to do with Chloe." Chloe raised an eyebrow and thought, "Why do I think he's suddenly gotten smarter these days?"
"Michael..."
Lucy looked at him a bit incredulously.
She thought, "Is he really going to be this indifferent to me now?"
"Lucy, don't beg him. I'll earn this money back somehow."
"How are you gonna earn it?"
