Chapter 329 Why Are They Here

Asher couldn't contain himself and grew agitated, his tone becoming increasingly heated.
Owen snapped upon hearing this, "You call it being a manager, but isn't it just supervising them to come up with solutions? What else can I do? You guys can go out wining and dining for cooperation, but when have I ever been out there!"
He thought, "I've always been stuck in the office; even when Michael went on his honeymoon, he handed all his projects over to Asher!
Their relationship has always seemed closer; I'm not oblivious to that fact."
Michael, feeling somewhat exasperated, pinched the bridge of his nose.
He didn't take Owen out to socialize because, since college, Owen had always claimed he was introverted and not good at discussing projects.
"Owen, what's the point of beating around the bush like this? You keep giving me and Michael labels and excuses, but isn't it all just about Lucy!" Asher interjected.
At the mention of Lucy once again, Owen lost control and raised his hand as if to strike Asher.
Just then, the doorbell rang, interrupting their impending scuffle.
Owen paused, realizing that very few people knew his address. Besides Michael and Asher, there was only Lucy.
Immediately, he composed himself and went to open the door for Lucy.
Asher sneered, saying, "Look at him, so spineless!"
All the bad deeds Lucy had done were being exposed today, yet Owen still treated her as a golden goose.
Lucy stood at the door, looking pitiful, tears streaming down her face. "Owen..."
As she came in and saw Michael and Asher sitting on the couch, her words were caught in her throat.
She froze, staring blankly at the two figures across from her.
She thought, "Why are they here too?
I thought only Owen was here; that's why I wanted to come and seek comfort from him.
But now Michael is here too; how can I twist the truth?"
Michael, devoid of any emotion in his eyes, made Lucy feel a wave of panic.
She hurried over, intending to sit next to Michael.
However, before she could, he frowned, showing a clear reluctance to be near her.
Lucy hesitated, ultimately sitting across from him, feeling dejected.
"Michael, do you think I'm a bad woman now?"
Michael remained silent as Asher said, "Weren't you always one?"
Lucy sniffled, saying, "Michael, I can explain."
She hadn't expected Chloe to recklessly reveal all her past deeds, leading to her being condemned online.
"With all the evidence out there, what is there left to explain?" Asher scoffed, his eyes full of disdain.
"Asher, will you ever stop?" Owen retorted.
Michael, his patience wearing thin, finally said, "Enough of this bickering!"

With the recent incident on the overpass with Chloe, his mood had already soured to the extreme.
Though they both still harbored resentment towards each other, Owen and Asher fell silent.

Lucy said, "Michael, I've told you about things in the past; it was my mother's decision; I couldn't control it. As for the note, I genuinely just wanted to check on you to see if you were okay; that's why I had the receptionist give you the note. I never expected it to be exposed.
"As for those rumors online about old lovers, I admit... I haven't completely forgotten our past, so I didn't immediately come out to clarify that we had no relationship."
"What past?"
