Chapter Rolling hills with moo cows 3:15 pm 19th Oct 2180
Near Davos – Switzerland
The starship was parked in the bottom of a small valley.
They had walked up, very slowly, to a small herd of the orange cows. Close to, their long hair looked ginger. It seemed to glow in the afternoon sunlight.
Two of the cows seemed to be quite placid. The others had wandered off, but these two seemed happy to accept Ginny and Gabriel’s nearness.
Ginny walked slowly closer to one of them. It looked at Ginny with its big moist eyes.
She slowly bent and plucked a clump of grass.
She offered it to the cow.
It didn’t move to take the grass, but neither did it move away.
“Are you ready?” Ginny asked Gabriel.
“You sure about this?” Gabriel said.
“Now’s not the time to question it,” Ginny said.
“I’m ready then,” Gabriel said.
Ginny inched forward, holding the clump of grass in both of her hands.
The cow opened its mouth and took the clump of grass.
“Now ... now,” Ginny said, so quietly that Gabriel could barely hear her.
Gabriel leaned down and snapped Sara’s STU onto the left foreleg of the cow.
He stepped away instantly.
The cow continued munching the clump of grass.
Ginny stroked the side of the cow’s head.
Its eyes followed her movements.
“Good girl,” Ginny said.
