Chapter He very much enjoyed his job 20th Oct 2180
The ACME INC Building - Baltimore
“They’ve not moved for over 12 hours.”
“So, where are they?” Dmitry said.
“They’re in Switzerland. Sort of near Davos. Looks like a farming community. No big towns nearby. In fact there’s bugger all nearby.”
“So you think they’ve come to a stop for a while, then?” Dmitry said.
“Looks that way.”
“Stake your life on it?”
“Er ...”
“Only joking,” Dmitry said.
“So, what, er ...? Are you going to send team 2 in now?”
“Well ... you’ve said now’s a good time, so I think I’ll have to take your word for it,” Dmitry said.
He could hear the heightened breathing of the other man down the comms line.
“Send me the precise coordinates,” Dmitry said. “And send them to team 2 as well. I want you there as well. We’ll all meet up in three hours precisely.”
“You want me there and ...”
“I want us all there,” Dmitry said. “To avoid fuck-ups, and to maximise operational efficiencies.”
“Er ... right ... see you there in three hours precisely then.”
Dmitry clicked the call closed.
He laughed at his own little joke.
He had been quoting from his own job description on the ACME INC staff web-site, where he was described as ‘acts in a roving manner, often working on-site to maximise operational efficiencies.’ In practice, his very presence served to put the shits up everybody, no matter what level they worked at within the company.
He laughed at the thought.
He very much enjoyed this job.
He really should have done this shit much sooner in his life.
Maybe then he would have lost less blood; had less scars.
But then he’d enjoyed that shit as well.
