Absolute Chaos

Chapter 20.

“Woof, woof”, hearing two short barks from his dogs, Kaydir stood,

“Stay here,” was all he said to Maia and quietly closed the door behind him. His two identical sisters, Kaija and Kaiya stood in the shadows of his hut with their good friend Rakim.

“Kaydir....what is wrong!?.” Kaiya asked their triplet. He knew his sisters would immediately come to his aid, tying his anklet to either dog was their way of communication in an emergency.

Whispering quietly, he explained what he knew before they all went inside to see Maia.

Maia had wrapped herself as best she could in one of Kaydir’s flax wraps, she was still sitting on his bed cross legged. She got along well with Kaija and Rakim, however clashed a little with Kaiya, they didn’t see eye to eye on most topics, especially the subject of boys.

“As Salaam Alykum.” Maia bowed her chin towards her friends, them bowing in return. Kaydir thought she looked so small and defenceless sitting there on his bed.

“I have told them you need our help, we are all happy to do so,...what can we do Maia?.” Kadir’s deep green irises burned into hers with the most profound intense emotion.

Fresh tears swelled beneath her eyelids as Maia replied.

“I need to find Raijen and ...um Amaunet,....she is Raijen’s friend....I think she is in Raijen’s home, I do not know were Raijen is....we need to find him before Lykus.”

The friends quickly discussed what they would do. Kaija would go to Raijen’s caves and bring Amaunet to Kaydir’s hut, while Kaydir, Kaiya and Rakim head to Otamia’s boarders, back to were they had left Raijen and Lykus earlier.

“Please stay here Maia, try and rest while we’re gone, you will be safe, the dogs will look after you while I am away.” Kaydir knelt between his hounds whispering something only he knew into each dogs ear, their ears standing high, then moving in front of Maia.

Both dogs ignored her pats as she scratched their soft heads, standing fully alert, protecting her.

As the friends left Kaydir’s hut, Maia grabbed Kaija by the arm and spoke softly to her. Her eyes widening as Maia told her of Amaunet’s pale skin and hair, asking her not to be alarmed when she finds her. Kaija nodded sternly before she silently slid into the shadowed long grass.
