Chapter 30
The bedroom looked the same as always, but it was the small changes she noticed that revealed she was dreaming. Sitting up in the bed, Lisa glanced around the darkened area, picking up the subtle differences. The first clue she noticed was the temperature. There is no heat from the blanket covering her or the air spouting from the aircon. Moving silently, she got up from the bed while keeping an eye all around. Her mind screamed to wake up, but as hard as she tried, the dream still clung to her. A soft blue hue pierced the curtains, another sign this was not the real world. Moving closer to the window, Lisa slowly reached for the material and noticed it had no texture as she grasped it. Counting to three in her head, Lisa yanked it open, and her mouth dropped open in surprise. The usual mountains and woods were gone, replaced by darkness. Not the standard black, but one far darker, and by her feelings, more dangerous. Nightmares have plagued her for years, but this one felt different, more natural but still a dream. The blue hue she had seen disappeared the second the curtain was drawn open, making her scan the rest of the room. As her eyes swept over the furniture, the same color poked out from beneath the bathroom door, shining brighter.
"This is just a dream.” The words reassured her, but it was useless. With more will than she had, Lisa tiptoed over to the door, gently wrapping her fingers around the handle. Knowing this nightmare might not end until she investigates, she pressed down until the click sounded and the door opened an inch. The color instantly brightened, casting her skin in a blue tint. Pushing all the way, the door swung open to reveal the bathroom, but no color. Stepping inside the darkened bathroom, a puzzled Lisa glanced around, unable to find the source: until she caught her reflection in the mirror.
Stepping closer until the edge of the counter dug into her stomach, she leaned closer to her image, shocked by what she saw. The blue hue was now emanating from her reflection while a devilish smirk plastered on her face.
"How?" muttered Lisa.
"Because you are not strong enough to handle the power,” the reflection answered.
Lisa jumped back from the shock of seeing the mirror talk. The wall slammed into her back hard, knocking the air from her lungs. Then, with a deep breath, Lisa glued her eyes to herself, her smiling self.
"Did I scare you?" asked the girl in the mirror, her smile doubling.
"Why am I dreaming this?" Lisa posed the question to herself, and she answered.
"This is not a dream, Lisa. This is the moment that I become myself again. The weak will falter while the strong will survive."
Frantically rubbing her eyes to wake up, Lisa peeked through the gap in her fingers, disappointed to find the other girl still smiling at her. "Who are you?"
"What does he see in you? Pretty, yes, but not smart."
As the gears clicked into place, Lisa's automatic response is stepping back, but the wall blocked her. The woman in the mirror might look like her, but after yesterday's little adventure, she had learned a great deal about this woman. "Rebecca."
Rebecca mockingly clapped her hands. "Well done. Maybe not as stupid as I thought."
Lisa slowly edged closer to the woman, noticing as the distance lessens, the blue hue darkens, gaining intensity until only the sink stands between her and Rebecca. Scanning her eyes over the woman, Lisa absorbed the details. Their face and hair seemed the same, whereas Rebecca was slightly thinner, not Lisa's broad hips.
"I know I am beautiful but staring so much is weird." Rebecca mocked.
"It is uncanny.” Dragging her gaze back up, Lisa connected with Rebecca's gaze, noticing one big difference between them. Her eyes seemed cold and dead. She might have a smile showing, but it was fake, for her soul was darkness and evil incarnate.
"Yes, yes. We do look alike, but you are a sloppier version of me. I am the original, the true mate for Roger,” spat Rebecca.
"If you want him so bad, then take him.” To hear his name drudged up their fight and the anger towards him.
Rebecca's smile widened. “I will have him, but I need something from you first."
Lisa tilted her head, "And that is?"
"My body back.” The fake smile suddenly vanished, replaced by a scowl, baring her teeth.
The unexpected shift in mood caught Lisa off guard, but she still had one thing that Rebecca did not. "You forget that I am alive, and from what Nix showed me, you are dead. A mere figment of the imagination. The memories must have stuck with me, making me have this nightmare." Stepping away from the mirror, Lisa smirked at an angered Rebecca. "I am going to wake up now, and you will disappear."
"Not if I have anything to do about it."
The blue hue brightened dramatically, instantly blinding Lisa. Trying to cover her eyes, she stepped back, slamming into the same wall again. The light suddenly vanished, leaving Lisa only seeing black behind her closed eyes. Hoping Rebecca is gone, Lisa lowered her hands and opened her eyes.
"Goodbye, Lisa."
The flash of Rebecca's fist was the last thing Lisa saw before darkness consumed her.
Shooting up in bed and away from the dream, Rebecca blinked a few times to adjust to this new world but found her sight to quickly adapt to the darkness, even catching the small details of the dresser across from the bed.
"My, my. You have been keeping a secret."
Jumping off the bed and sprinting to the bathroom, Rebecca yanked open the door, ripping it from its hinges. As the door crashed to the floor, she stepped inside to look at herself. Their situation was reversed, for Rebecca stood before the mirror, happily watching a panicked Lisa in the reflection fighting invisible chains.
"What did you do?" said Lisa as soon as she spotted Rebecca.
Wrapping her arms across her chest and leaning against the doorframe, Rebecca lavished in seeing Lisa struggle.
"Answer me," screamed Lisa.
Straightening up and stepping against the sink, Rebecca leaned over. Hands propped on top and a few inches from the glass. "I found a way to take back what you have stolen from me." Then, leaning back and gripping her hips, Rebecca twisted her torso from side to side. "My body."
"It is not yours."
"You are right. But neither is it yours.” Clicking her tongue a couple of times, Rebecca pointed the finger at Lisa. "You have been keeping a secret. But I have to know before I explore this new time, what are you?"
Lisa stopped her struggle at the question, her arms hanging limply by her side. "I am a human. So why is everybody asking me that?"
Raising her right hand, palm outstretched and facing up, Rebecca spoke. "Because you can do this." A blue flame suddenly appeared in her palm, not burning but a simmer of power. Swaying the flame side to side as she watched in fascination, Rebecca explained. "There is a power within this body, coursing through the veins. One you might not have known about, but one I can control.” The flame vanished as she closed her palm before looking back at Lisa, who could only watch in shock. "As I told you, only the strong would survive, but with these powers, I will conquer and rule the world. Starting with Roger."
Ignoring the protests coming from the mirror, Rebecca left the bathroom, stepping over the broken door to make her way to the entrance. As the pleas became quiet the further she got from the room, Rebecca searched the empty halls until the one door came up. Moving the pajamas around to reveal her cleavage and show more leg, she knocked on the door,
Footsteps came from within, louder and louder, ending on the other side. There were a few seconds of silence before the lock clicked, and the door swung open.
"Lisa. What are you doing here?" a shocked Roger asked.
With a soft voice and lustful stare, Rebecca answered, "I am here for you, my love."
"What are you doing here?" a bewildered Roger asks, taking an involuntary step back as if he got punched in the gut. Seeing his mate is unexpected but seeing her with the lustful smile splayed on her lips hit him harder.
Rebecca's smile deepened as she leaned on the doorframe with her hip, emphasizing the hourglass figure she is beginning to love. Then, folding her arms beneath her breast and quickly scanning him up and down, her gaze settled on his eyes. "I missed you, my love. Is it wrong to seek the comforts of my mate?"
The way Lisa is speaking bothered Roger, but only a tiny part in the back of his mind. After their fight, he missed her. Sure, she is lying to him about her background and his old love visiting him, but having her stand before him now, her arousal evident on her scent sparked up his instinct. The need to be close to one's mate, to touch their bare skin, to hear their screams of pleasure. Pushing down the voice telling him to slam the door shut in her face, Roger instead stepped to the side, opening a space for her to enter.
Rebecca pushed away from the door with a final sultry glance over his form, slowly stepping inside, swinging her hips prominently with each stride.
Not breaking his gaze from her behind, Roger shut the door before following her to the bed. Swinging around, Rebecca dropped onto the soft mattress, crossing her legs and leaning back to rest on her arms. The dim light from the lamp cast a golden glow over her form, making her appear angelic.
Roger slowly examined her as he leaned against a chair right across from her. Her body language is different, more open. After a few seconds of lazily trailing his sight from her toes to her eyes, they locked sighs, neither blinking in a battle of silent wills. Another strange occurrence from Lisa. Her gentle personality never needing to fight with his strong one, a great pairing together.
"Why are you really here?" Roger tried again.
Letting out an annoyed huff, Rebecca pushed up and sauntered towards Roger. He tensed up as she reached towards him, softly wrapping her fingers around his forearm. The lustful smirk return as she trailed his fingers over his skin, drawing mindless patterns. "I want to be with you. Why is it so hard to believe?” She purred.
Being this close to Lisa as she touched him, with a look that could send him over the edge, a shot of pleasure burst from his groin, the images of earlier jumping to mind. The explosion of arousal made Roger gasp from shock, inhaling her scent. The usual sweetness of her aroma is different. With her familiar scent came a woodier, muskier part. It was hidden beneath as if trying to use the sweetness to block it.
Rebecca saw the confusion flicker in his eyes for a second, cursing silently at the vampire. Her plan was faltering and seeing his mate had to make the beast reappear, resulting in her already beneath him, screaming from pleasure. With a split-second decision, Rebecca reached for his face, pulling it down to hers. Their lips crashed together as she slightly parted hers, allowing the tip of her tongue to brush over his lips, teasing him to let her in.
Roger allowed Lisa to bend his neck for a kiss, loving the lead she took. Just like this morning. The warmth of her breath cooled the heat from the trail her tong made, her silent beg for his own, making him give in. Opening his mouth, he teased her tong with his, another battle of wills. Rebecca's fingers wrapped in his hair, pulling him tighter. Then, on instinct, Roger's hands slid down her body to rest on her ass, squeezing hard while crashing his rigid member into her stomach.
"I missed this." Rebecca moaned, losing herself in the pleasure.
Suddenly, a blue light appeared behind their closed eyes, forcing them to open as Roger pulled back slightly. "What the hell..." he blurted out.
The power intensified, forming a ball in Lisa's hand that had dropped from his head. "What is this?" Stepping back a few feet, he watched as Lisa stumbled from confusion, watching her hands as the ball grew, casting the room in an aqua glimmer.
"I don't... I don't...” With a panicked gaze, she looked to Roger for help, but all he did was step back more, getting away from the unknown power.
"This is my body." Lisa screeched suddenly as the confused look disappeared, replaced by anger.
"What is happening?" Roger screamed.
A loud hum buzzed from the ball as the size grew, nearly double her head.
"You are not worthy of this gift," Rebecca yelled as her gaze locked on the ball, her fingers spreading wide to control it.
"Lisa, my love,” Roger interrupted, making her eyes shot to his for a second. "You need to control whatever is happening."
"I am," said Rebecca before staring back at the power. "But this bitch won't leave. I own this body now, but she is fighting her inevitable fate." The force stopped growing as the humming lowered to just a constant in the background. The wind whipped around Lisa, making her hair fly in all directions.
Roger frantically scanned the room for ideas, but it was useless. The new ability of his mate is unknown, with the hazard of getting too close to her to help not worth the risk. "Wait.” Finally, her words sunk in, and his stomach dropped. "Rebecca."
A devilish smirk played on her lips as her eyes locked onto his, the blue shadow cast on her features making her look eery and dangerous. "Yes, it is I." As she spoke, the power slowly dissolved, her skin soaking up the energy. "I told you I would return. You were supposed to help me by killing her, but no need.” As the last of the power dissipated, the room returned to normal with the wind stopping and the buzz gone. Then, with the blue shadow gone, the room returned to the lightly lit orange.
The shocking reveal froze Roger to the spot, too shocked to move or say anything. All he could do was listen and take it all in.
Shaking her hands and stretching her fingers, Rebecca cracked her neck side to side, rolling her shoulders up and down, testing to see if she was in charge again. The pesky girl had taken control for a few seconds when she had been distracted by Roger, but she proved to be the victor. Lisa was not gone yet; her irritating presence felt in the back of her mind like an itch you can't get rid of. But soon, with His help, Rebecca will be fully in charge of the vessel and the powers it came with. Rebecca twisted to face Roger with a satisfactory smile, one hand on her hip and the other stretched out, playing with a smaller ball of power.
"Sorry about that. The powers are new to me and will need some time to adjust to it.” Closing her palm, the ball evaporated. Grasping her other hip, Rebecca moved to Roger, still frozen in place. "Now, where were we.” Stopping before him, she reached for his face, trailing a finger down his jaw, leaving a faint line of blue fluorescent. "O, yes. Never send a man to do a woman's job. I thought you loved me, but foolish me. Thinking you would kill this girl to have me back. But no, you had to go and fuck her.” Her voice deepened with anger at the last words. Grasping his chin hard and pulling him closer to her face, Rebecca dug her nails into his flesh. "You are my mate, not hers. This is my body, the one you fell in love with, not hers."
Roughly shoving his face away and stepping back, she twirled around a couple of times. "But I do love this one more than my own. Especially what it comes with."
The more she spoke, the more Roger came to terms with his situation and fought his body to move, but it was useless. "I can't move,” he forced out.
Stopping her display, Rebecca smiled, leaning forward. "But of course. I am making you not move."
"How?"
"Always with the questions." Rebecca rolled her eyes. "Isn't it obvious? This body has a great amount of power, my power now."
"But I would have sensed it." It was all too confusing for him.
"Do I have to spell it out for you?” The smile slipped away, replaced by frustration. Grasping his neck gently, Rebecca twisted him to face the bed, the same bed with beautiful memories. "You taking her virginity unlocked a part hidden from her."
"What is she?"
Yanking him back to face her, fingers clung harder to his skin, her anger visible. "You mean, what am I? The girl you used to know is gone. I am Rebecca, and I am your mate."
"Never,” Roger blurted out.
Blue flames blasted behind her eyes, staring directly at Roger, but it is too early. Closing her eyes and counting to ten in her head, Rebecca slowed her breathing, forcing herself to calm down.
A wolf howl sounded in the distance, making Rebecca's head shoot in that direction. Then, she slowly twisted back to Roger with a devilish smile, her eyes back to normal.
"Seems like our ride is here, mate."
